Story
Meet Betty! This 91lb, 1 ½ year old Cane Corso came to the shelter with another dog through no fault of her own. While it’s clear she once had a home, she’s now patiently waiting for a second chance at forever.According to her previous owner, Betty gets along well with other dogs and even cats. She has also done well with children, making her a wonderful candidate for a family looking to add a gentle companion to their home. Betty has a medium energy level — she enjoys playtime and outdoor adventures but is just as happy to relax and unwind with her people. This sweet girl can be a little shy at first, but once she feels comfortable, her playful and affectionate personality truly shines. She loves to have fun and will happily soak up attention from those she trusts. Betty would do best with a family that understands she prefers to have her own space during mealtimes, as she doesn’t like other dogs around her food. With a little structure and understanding, she will thrive. We do all adoptions with approved applicants by appointment only. If you are interested in adopting, please contact us via FB Messenger or email us at jcasreception@johnsoncounty.in.gov for an application. Story
Meet Moosie! ??Moosie is a 109lbs, 18-month-old, Cane Corso who found himself at the shelter through no fault of his own. He was surrendered alongside another dog, and while big changes can be tough, Moosie has kept his cheerful spirit shining bright. This friendly guy loves making new friends wherever he goes! He gets along well with other dogs, does well with cats, and is great with children. With his medium-to-high energy level, Moosie would thrive in a home that can keep him active with playtime, walks, and plenty of fun adventures.Moosie is crate trained and does well when crated. According to his previous owner, he is not yet house trained, so he’ll need a patient family willing to help him learn the ropes with consistency and positive reinforcement. He’s a smart boy who just needs guidance and routine to succeed. One adorable quirk about Moosie? He can be a bit picky about his treats — he knows what he likes! He does have some food guarding tendencies and may growl when other dogs are around his food, so he’ll do best being fed separately from other pets to help everyone feel comfortable and safe.Moosie is full of love, tail wags, and potential. With a little structure and a lot of affection, he’s ready to be someone’s loyal and joyful companion. We do all adoptions with approved applicants by appointment only.
