Story
Barkley is a 20 month old Cane Corso Pitbull Shar Pei mix. He was given to me when he was 10 weeks old from the very house who owned his mother, father brother and sister. Our home is the only home hes ever known. Barkley is a sweet boy who does not have an aggressive bone in his body. He is incredibly hyper and a little anxious and who just cant seem to sit or lay still. He can use a family that has the time to play with him, work off his high energy and train him to have boundaries. As of now he cannot be trusted alone in fear that he will damage furniture or other elements of our home. He deserves a better life with a family that can invest in him and train him properly. I wont let him go without that assurance. Id rather keep him and let him damage my home and belongings than let him go to a family unwilling to invest the time in this beautiful boy. We will be moving down to FL next summer - with schedules that would be difficult for him. I want him to find a true forever home.

Story
Madeline Grace, Maddie for short is fun, full of energy, and loves to be cuddled. She loves to eat and requires lots of water. Maddie was born on December 23, 2025. Maddie was given to a friend who then gave her to me because he was unable to care for her. I am finding that I am also unable to care for her due to my long hours at work and her need for extended play and exercise. She needs to be around a family that have active children and time to take her to the park. She is a great listener, smart and very lovable. She enjoys eating shoes so you gotta keep them out of reach😁.

Story
Tiny came in to the shelter as a stray and has been an incredible gentleman since his arrival. He is totally unaware of his size and that tail that is always wagging can be dangerous! Tiny has done a few dog meets here t the shelter and they haven`t gone very well so we feel he will be best as the only dog in the home. If you have older kids they should be ready for slobber we will not adopt Tiny out with small kids. He does enjoy treats and toys but be sure they are BIG dog toys because he`s a BIG BOY.To apply, visit our County website https://www.burlingtoncountynj.gov/1446/Available-for-Adoption, to see what pets are available, noting animal`s name and/or ID number and submit your online application here: https://burlingtoncountynj.formstack.com/forms/adoption_application (copy and paste into your web browser)

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Fill out an Adoption Application Headline: Meet Slim Jim — Your Goofy, People‑Loving Velcro Sidekick! Personality: Slim Jim is a goofy, people‑loving velcro dog who wants nothing more than to be close to his person. He follows you everywhere, curls himself into the tiniest ball imaginable, and can twist into hilarious pretzel‑like positions that keep you laughing daily. He’s full of affection, full of personality, and full of love. He’s an energetic walker who can easily do five miles and still have a round of zoomies left in him, but once he’s had his fun, he becomes a true nap king — happiest snuggled up beside you or tucked into one of his signature curled‑up poses. Slim Jim does have separation anxiety and, at this stage, cannot be left alone. He thrives with someone who is home often and can give him the reassurance and structure he needs. He’s not able to tolerate a crate when left alone, but with patience and consistency, he has great potential to improve. For now, he needs a home where he won’t be left solo and can enjoy the comfort of being near his person. Slim Jim is a loyal shadow, a silly companion, and a deeply affectionate dog who brings warmth, laughter, and devotion to every day. He’s looking for someone who wants a true sidekick — a dog who will adore them endlessly. Favorite Activities: Slim Jim’s favorite things in life are wonderfully simple: long walks, cozy naps, and chewing on a good bone. He loves getting out for his daily strolls and can happily go for miles, taking in all the sights and smells. Once he’s had his exercise (and a round of zoomies), he’s all about settling in for a nap — preferably curled up in one of his signature tiny‑ball positions. When he’s awake and relaxing, a sturdy chew bone is his go‑to pastime. As long as he’s close to his person, Slim Jim is content, happy, and fully in his element. Medical Issues: Slim Jim arrived in rescue extremely underweight, but with proper care and nutrition he has made a strong recovery. He is healthy, gaining steadily, and just needs to continue putting on a bit more weight. He has no ongoing medical issues and is thriving in foster care. What would be the best kind of home: Slim Jim is looking for a patient, adult home that can offer structure, consistency, and plenty of companionship. Because he is a big, enthusiastic 75‑lb lap‑dog who still jumps when excited, he would do best in a home without young children; respectful kids 12+ may be appropriate. He is dog‑reactive and prefers to have his person all to himself, so he is best as an only dog, though a calm, respectful dog may be possible with careful introductions. Cats are unknown. Slim Jim cannot be left alone at this time and needs someone who is home consistently. A two‑adult household would be ideal so he can share his affection and not become overly dependent on just one person. He loves all people and bonds quickly. Before rescue, Slim Jim lived on the streets and had to survive on his own. In the last few months, he has been learning how to be a household dog — and despite his tough past, he shows no ill will toward humans. He is still worried that his next meal may not be guaranteed, so structure, predictable routines, and trust‑building are key to helping him feel secure. He enjoys long walks and currently gets all his exercise on leash, but he would love a fenced yard to explore. A secure 6' fence is recommended, as he is agile and athletic. Although estimated to be around four years old, Slim Jim still has some puppy energy and enthusiasm. He is food‑motivated, eager to please, and will thrive with continued basic training to help him improve his manners (jumping, counter surfing, and leash reactivity). Additional Comments: Slim Jim’s life has changed completely in just three months. After surviving on the streets and having to fend for himself, he is now learning how to be a loved, indoor family dog — and he is blossoming. Despite his tough past, he shows no ill will toward people and greets everyone with affection and trust. He is still learning that meals are consistent and safe, so structure and routine help him feel secure. Slim Jim has so much potential and is already proving what a sweet, loving, devoted companion he can be. With the right home, he will continue to grow into the incredible dog he’s meant to be.Click here to watch a video of Slim Jim.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.
