Story
Meet Tilly – aka Tilly Beans! Tilly is a gorgeous brindle girl with a gentle heart and an affectionate personality. She loves being close to her people and is happiest curled up in a lap, soaking up attention. Belly rubs are one of her favorite things, and she'll gladly roll over to ask for more! Tilly has a moderate energy level. She enjoys playing, exploring the yard, and the occasional burst of zoomies once she's comfortable in her environment, but she's just as content to settle down for a nap nearby. One of her favorite toys is a small soccer ball, which she loves to push, toss, and roll around on. Watching her play is guaranteed to make you smile. Smart, attentive, and eager to please, Tilly has already learned Sit, Paw, Down, and Stay. She enjoys spending time with her family but is also independent enough to entertain herself when needed. While she could be perfectly happy as an only dog, she thrives on canine companionship and would benefit from having a confident dog friend. Because of her early life experiences, Tilly is very timid in new environments and needs time to build trust. Loud noises, sudden movements, and new large objects startle her, and she often retreats to her crate, which serves as her safe space. Her ideal home will be patient, understanding, and committed to helping her continue gaining confidence at her own pace. A home with older or no children and another friendly dog would be a great fit. As a young, large-breed dog who is still growing, Tilly's future family should be prepared for the needs and training that come with a large dog. HISTORY Good Samaritans found Tilly abandoned in a rural area. HEALTH Tilly is up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. She will be spayed when appropriate for her age and size. PHYSICAL Tilly has a beautiful brindle color with some fawn mixed in, short hair, floppy ears, and big paws.

Story
Birdie is an 11 month old female who is affectionate, loyal, and loving with the people she knows and trusts. She enjoys spending time with her family. She is energetic, playful, and loves attention and companionship. She has been raised with her canine brother and has a close bond with him. However, she has demonstrated aggression toward our 6 year old spayed female pit bull and has attacked her on two separate occasions. Because of these incidents, we believe she would do best as the only dog in the home. For everyone's safety, we are seeking an experienced owner who can provide a structured environment and continue working with her behavioral needs. We do not recommend placement in a home with other pets or young children. Despite these challenges, Birdie is a loving dog who deserves the right home where she can thrive. She is very smart and can sit, shake, speak, and whisper on command. I know in the right home setting she will be an amazing companion for the right person.

Story
(DOB 07/10/2025) Are you a big-dog lover? Let us introduce Duke. He has a way of looking majestic, regal, and downright dignified one minute, then turning around and being the silliest, goofiest, funniest guy the next. He truly is the best of both worlds! Duke's favorite things include:  Treats. Obviously; who doesn't love a tasty-tasty snack?  Going for walks. And what a handsome side-kick he is; heads will turn!  Chasing a tennis ball. Oh, the simple joys in life.  Kong Armor toys—especially the ones with squeakers!  Sitting on the screened porch and grumbling at the squirrels like it’s his personal responsibility to supervise the neighborhood. Duke can be an enthusiastic “eager greeter,” when meeting other dogs, so he’ll do best with thoughtful introductions and a little guidance to help him practice polite greetings. He even gets excited when he sees his little neighbor, the Shih Tzu, and is always hoping she’ll come out to say hello! As for kids, Duke has done well with his little visitor though did think his hearding skills where needed when he was running and playing around. Because Duke is a big, strong boy who can get excited when little ones are romping, he’ll benefit from supervision or older children. He's not had an opportunity to meet cats at this time. Duke is a big, handsome guy with an equally big personality. Duke isn’t the type to rush up to every stranger with a “Hi! Let's be best friends at first sight!” Instead, he prefers to take his time, observe, and slowly decide if you’re worthy of his friendship.  And when a stranger approaches? Duke’s big-dog bark is just that...a big-dog bark! Once he gets to know you and realizes you’re one of the good ones, that bark fades away and you get to see the sweet, lovable boy underneath. Duke is a smart boy and enjoys learning new things and building his best behavior through positive reinforcement training. His forever family will need to be dedicated to continueing his daily routines. Lucky for you, he loves treats so it makes training more like a fun game! Plus, he is already house and crate trained, too. Are you that very special someone for this big, squishy face hunk? He’s looking for someone who appreciates earning a dog’s trust and knows just how special that bond can be. He's ready to lay his head in a forever home filled with love, kindness, patience, dedication and where he knows he is safe. Open your heart to this big-boy-love and you will be rewarded with Duke's very special, deep, affection. As part of Duke’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet pup, you can email: Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org. If you wish to adopt Duke, you can complete an application online for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website: www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2797624##
