MAYA is a gentle giant, an ultimate medical survivor, and a complete love bug.
MAYA is nothing short of a miracle. Over the past two years, this magnificent girl has overcome hurdles that would stop almost anyone else, including major leg and spinal surgeries and cancer. Through it all, her spirit never wavered.
Today, MAYA is one of the sweetest, most affectionate dogs you could ever meet. She craves human touch and loves nothing more than pressing her big, gentle body against you while asking for pets and giving kisses. She will take love, affection, and head rubs until the end of time.
MAYA's walks are slow and on her terms. One guarantee if you walk her: at least once or twice, she will stop, lie down, roll over, and use the grass as a scratch pad for her back. Then she waits for you to kneel down and love on her. When she is ready, she pops back up as if to say, "Okay, let's keep going."
MAYA is incredibly dog-friendly and loves friends of all sizes. She even gets to spend time with our Littles playgroup. She enjoys dog buddies like BLU and YAM, but because of her medical history, her body needs protection even when her spirit wants to play.
👉 MAYA's adoption is a special mission. She requires a fiercely devoted, understanding family who can provide a safe, controlled environment to protect her fragile body. A fenced yard is required so she can move around at her own pace without every bit of exercise depending on a walk. Her adopters must be financially and emotionally prepared for any future medical needs that may arise.
For the right family, giving MAYA safe harbor and true love will be one of the most rewarding experiences imaginable.
