He is an active young boy, smart and playful. He especially loves to play fetch and tug. Unfortunately, he needs rehoming because his people must move out of the country. Hugo is well trained, intelligent and loves to learn new tricks. He is shy at first but will warm up to people has he gets to know them. He is shy around other dogs and would prefer to be an only dog or in a home with an older and calmer dog. He doesn't do well with puppies. Also, a home with calm teenagers or no childred is a must.  Even though Hugo has lived in an apartment since he was a puppy, his ideal home would be a bigger apartment or even a home with a yard in a more suburban setting, He is not a city dog. Hugo would be a good fit for a experienced dog owner, ideally one that appreciates his playful energy and intelligence, and will provide him with the love he deserves. Fill out an application today for Hugo, and let him bring a ray of sunshine into your life!Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. Story
Meet Scooby! This 6-month-old, 30 lb pit mix has already proven himself to be one incredibly resilient pup. Scooby’s story started off rough — he was cruelly thrown over a fence as a tiny puppy and spent his early months recovering from surgery. But those days are behind him, and he’s now fully healed, cleared by the vet, and ready to enjoy life as a happy, healthy puppy!    Scooby is the full package — fully crate trained and potty trained, making him a breeze in the home. He’s dog-friendly and enjoys spending time with other pups. He’s also met a few cats and has done just fine with them!   This sweet boy has a playful, goofy personality and loves making new friends. He’s eager to please, full of love, and ready to find a family who will give him the happy, secure life he deserves.   Apply to adopt Scooby at www.keytolionsheart.orgOctober 28, 2025, 8:18 pm

Story
Arrow is a Carolina Dingo, a rare Southern breed known for its intelligence and unwavering loyalty. She’s independent but deeply affectionate once she trusts you—a protector, hiking buddy, and gentle soul all in one. Arrow loves the outdoors and would thrive in a home with a large fenced yard where she can explore, run, and relax in the sun. She enjoys car rides and will quietly take in the world from the backseat with those incredible alert ears. She’s house-trained, healthy, and ready for her forever person. Arrow can be protective at first, so she’ll do best with someone familiar with large, intuitive breeds who can provide calm leadership and consistency. She’s happiest in a home with older kids or adults who’ll give her time to settle and shine. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion with spirit and heart, Arrow is waiting to meet you.

Story
Joey is an incredibly sweet, affectionate, and playful dog who loves to cuddle and make his people laugh. However, he is not a city dog—urban life truly overwhelms him. The constant noise, traffic, and commotion cause him significant fear and anxiety, which you can see in his body language: his tail tucks, he shakes, and he becomes visibly stressed even during short trips outside to use the bathroom. Joey has worked with professional trainers, a behaviorist, and is currently on medication to help manage his anxiety, but the environment remains too stimulating for him to feel secure. He does have some aggressive tendencies, particularly when on leash or around unfamiliar dogs, though he adores his 11-year-old Lab mix sister and gets along wonderfully with her. Joey thrives when he has space to run freely—his true personality shines when he’s off leash in an open area, where he’s happy, goofy, and at ease.
