He is an active young boy, smart and playful. He especially loves to play fetch and tug. Unfortunately, he needs rehoming because his people must move out of the country. Hugo is well trained, intelligent and loves to learn new tricks. He is shy at first but will warm up to people has he gets to know them. He is shy around other dogs and would prefer to be an only dog or in a home with an older and calmer dog. He doesn't do well with puppies. Also, a home with calm teenagers or no childred is a must.  Even though Hugo has lived in an apartment since he was a puppy, his ideal home would be a bigger apartment or even a home with a yard in a more suburban setting, He is not a city dog. Hugo would be a good fit for a experienced dog owner, ideally one that appreciates his playful energy and intelligence, and will provide him with the love he deserves. Fill out an application today for Hugo, and let him bring a ray of sunshine into your life!Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life. Story
&#226&#156&#168 Meet Scooby! &#226&#156&#168 Scooby is now a 9-month-old pit mix, weighing about 40 lbs (and not expected to grow any bigger), and he’s already proven himself to be one incredibly resilient and lovable pup. Scooby’s story started off rough—he was cruelly thrown over a fence as a tiny puppy and spent his early months recovering from surgery. Those difficult days are behind him now. Scooby is fully healed, cleared by the vet, and ready to enjoy life as the happy, healthy dog he was always meant to be. Scooby is the full package when it comes to life at home. He is fully crate trained and potty trained, making him an easy addition to any household. He is dog friendly, loves playing with other pups, and has even met a few cats, doing just fine with them. This sweet boy has a playful, goofy personality and loves to play hard, then settle in close for affection. Scooby is especially known for his love of kisses—if you’re looking for a dog who will shower you with affection, he’s your guy. He’s eager to please, full of love, and happiest when he’s with his people. Scooby is ready to find a family who will cherish him, spoil him with cuddles, and give him the safe, happy life he so deeply deserves. Story
Colt-Carolina/Black Mouth Curr male, ~ 2 yr. (Dec. 2025) Contact rescuebc@hotmail.com for an application. Colt came to Rescue when saved from a high kill rural shelter. The lead Trainer with a Prison Program heard of his need to be saved and saw the talent and great disposition in Colt. He was taken from the Shelter, to be in the Prison Progam. This cross, Carolina Black Mouth Curr will be medium to large and muscular yet slender in build. Their coats are usually short and dense that can be brown, tan, or yellow, with or without white areas around their body. The Carolina Black Mouth Cur mix may have a shy nature at first but will accept its human as part of the pack once it has formed a close bond with them. They may be wary of strangers, are known to have protective instincts with children, and can thrive in a multi-pet household. Colt is medium in size, about 50#. In the Prison Program he has good husbandry skills, crate training, rides in car. Colt's obedience training started, and after he has been with us for a week, his real personality came out. Very happy boy and does have that shy nature at this point in his life. But he's also gone through a lot in his short life and when in a stable, kind environment, he may overcome some of the shyness. Colt's Adoption fee is $350 to help cover the medical costs of getting ready for adoption. For our application, please email rescuebc@hotmail.com Please include your location and a phone number for future communication.
