Story
Named for the blind scientist and mathematician Nicholas Saunderson, Nick is a friendly, intelligent 73-lb. Carolina Dog, approximately 8 years old. He doesn't let his blindness slow him down - in fact, he can be a bit bullheaded about accepting help when navigating obstacles. With his excellent sense of smell, Nick prefers to figure things out on his own, thank you very much. Nick is friendly with other dogs once properly introduced, although he does have a preference for females. Before that, he may react defensively, which we believe is related to his blindness. He does well with resident dogs and cats, though he's quite curious about them. Nick loves his twice-daily walks and will stand patiently while you put on his walking vest. He is a strong puller - especially when he wants to sniff something interesting or greet a new dog - so he'll need an adopter with the strength and confidence to manage him. He is house-trained, crate-trained, and up to date on vaccinations. Nick is a determined, affectionate dog who will thrive with someone who understands his unique needs and independent spirit.
