IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Florence (Flora), 3 years old, spayed female, Carolina Dog mix, 46 pounds. She is in a foster home in HOUSTON, TEXAS and can transport out of State once an adopter is approved. Florence, affectionately nicknamed, Flora, Flory, Lory, or Sweetpea, is a playful and energetic dog who loves to wrestle and be chased. She would do best in a home with dogs of similar size and energy level. When playing, Flora could play for hours. She loves to interact with another dog in the home, Furman by licking his face. Flora has experience playing with dogs ranging from a 35-pound Cocker Spaniel to a 60-pound Pyrenees mix. Flora requires slow and guided introductions to other dogs. She has shown some leash reactivity, exhibiting behaviors like raised hair, whimpering and barking. Her foster parents have worked with her on this behavior. It did take her some time to befriend the resident pup, and Flora may do best as the one and only in the home. Flora’s compatibility with cats is unknown. She adores the 8-year-old child in the home, but is nervous of new children. Flora does have stranger danger when new people come into the home, and tends to bark at them, especially when they move around quickly. Because of her fear, she may prefer an adult household at this time. As mentioned, Flora has some leash reactivity and gets easily spooked, often pulling a lot. However, she has made progress with positive reinforcement and minimal stimuli. She walks much better in calm environments with less activity. She will need consistent training to help her with her leash skills and feeling safe around new dogs and stimuli. Flora is fully housebroken. She has demonstrated some anxiety in the crate at home. When her foster parents have gone out of town she has gone to boarding where she is crated with no issues. At home, she is able to be out of a crate and unsupervised with zero issues. She is fed separately from the other dogs in the home. Otherwise, she shares her toys well and has no issues with people and food, although she needs reminders to take treats gently. Flora has high energy needs and requires dedicated outdoor playtimes to do well inside the home. She thrives in a moderately active home with regular outdoor play sessions. She loves playing with the resident dog, bucking around the yard, eating, going for walks, sunbathing, and birdwatching. She is a total love bug and enjoys snuggling. She does well in the car but is terrified of storms, often seeking shelter in a closet or burying her head in a lap. Flora’s ideal home would be with someone who is often around, enjoys walks or jogs, and will play fetch with her. A home with no other pets or a well balanced dog of similar age, size, and energy level would be ideal. Flora needs an owner who will continue positive reinforcement to help with her anxiety. Flora is very smart, loves learning new tricks, and is very submissive and affectionate. She may be a work in progress, but will reward you with love and companionship for years to come! ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt her? Story
Meet Virginia! Breed: carolina dog mix? Your guess is as good as ours. Age: approx 3 years. Weight: est 35lbs. Training: crate trained, doing well with house and leash training. Good with other dogs/cats? Yes to both. Good with adults/kids? She can be timid/reserved at first, but that doesn't last long. She warms up to be very loyal and affectionate. Personality: shy, but loving and friendly. Reason for rescue: Virginia was dumped at a coal mine in VA. She has had at least 2 litters. A sweet family caring for them reached out for help with the last litter and got them to our rescue! Virigina was very skittish when first dumped there, but has come SO far! She has so much potential and will make a wonderful companion! She is spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, and current on vaccinations and preventatives. If interested in adding this sweet baby to your family, please message for an adoption application! Adoption fee: $75.March 7, 2026, 4:10 pm

Story
Jackson is the softest and sweetest pup. He was found wandering the streets and his previous owner never claimed him. We believe he's around 1.5 years old.Jackson loves to play fetch and chase his foster sisters around. He listens to commands and is generally very well behaved. He knows how to sit on command and knows what "No" means. More importantly, he listens to "no" consistently. ;) He would do well with an active family as he has a lot of energy. The first 5-10 minutes of his walks he pulls and is super excited, but calms down after the initial excitement wears off. He has done really well with a martingale type collar and enjoys being out in public and on adventures to anywhere dog friendly.Jackson is potty trained, neutered and up to date on vaccines. Not only is he crate trained, he LOVES his crate. In his current foster home he has the option of being in a large crate, or a commercial sized kennel, and he chooses the crate any time he has a choice. When he's tired of playing, he takes himself to his crate with a chew bone to relax.Speaking of playing, Jackson hasn't met a dog he doesn't like. However he can sometimes be a bit much for other dogs, at first, due to his excited energy. He loves chasing and being chased. He can play a little rough, but only when other dogs are matching his energy. He's a very intelligent dog who enjoys learning and training. He's mastered the "wait" command - to the point where he'll wait patiently while you trim his nails and bathe him. His go-to move when he wants attention is to sit on your feet and lean his back against your legs while looking up at you with his sweet puppy dog eyes. ##2691274##

Story
Meet Athreya. She is a very sweet girl who loves people and other animals. She is full of energy, but also loves to lay around. 75 pounds of love I always say. I adopted her from the Humane Society in August of 2023. She has been with me ever since. She's about 4 years old now. She had lots of energy when I got her, but has mellowed out since then. I have no issues with her. I am needing to find her a new home because our lifestyles aren't necessarily in alignment anymore. I'm never home and she needs more attention than I am able to give her. It has become difficult to constantly find someone to watch her when I'm away. She has a very strong personality. She needs a good home and that could be with you. So if you're interest reach out and lets connect.
