Story
SOS!! Cinnamon Sugar SOS - - she was only given 1 month of foster. Meet Cinnamon Sugar, a 2–3-year-old, 50-lb sweetheart who has spent far too long simply trying to survive after someone seemingly left her behind. Everything about Cinnamon tells us she was once someone’s dog. She is incredibly well-behaved, potty trained in the yard, wonderful on a leash, perfect in the car, and knows exactly how to live alongside people. At some point, the family she trusted disappeared, leaving this incredibly sweet girl to fend for herself. Cinnamon stayed around the same neighborhood, seemingly believing it was still her home. But life there became increasingly dangerous. Feral street pack dogs bullied and chased her, neighbors no longer wanted her around, and recently a loose dog even attacked her. Somehow, through all of it, Cinnamon remained gentle, trusting, and desperate for affection. Thankfully, one kind neighbor has offered Cinnamon a safe foster home — but only for one month. We now have a small window to find this deserving girl the forever family she has been waiting for. Cinnamon is spayed, vaccinated, 4DX negative, fully vetted, and up to date on preventatives. She loves other dogs, has lived peacefully around cats, and is truly the kind of easy, loving companion who just wants to belong. Cinnamon is currently in Puerto Rico, but she can be adopted anywhere in the U.S. Like all of our Puerto Rico rescues, we will arrange her flight off the island to her adoptive family, and her transport is included in her adoption fee. Someone may have abandoned Cinnamon once, but she never stopped believing in people. Now she has one month of safety while we find the person who will finally show her that this time, she is home forever.

IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Florence (Flora), 3 years old, spayed female, Carolina Dog mix, 46 pounds. She is in a foster home in HOUSTON, TEXAS and can transport out of State once an adopter is approved. Florence, affectionately nicknamed, Flora, Flory, Lory, or Sweetpea, is a playful and energetic dog who loves to wrestle and be chased. She would do best in a home with dogs of similar size and energy level. When playing, Flora could play for hours. She loves to interact with another dog in the home, Furman by licking his face. Flora has experience playing with dogs ranging from a 35-pound Cocker Spaniel to a 60-pound Pyrenees mix. Flora requires slow and guided introductions to other dogs. She has shown some leash reactivity, exhibiting behaviors like raised hair, whimpering and barking. Her foster parents have worked with her on this behavior. It did take her some time to befriend the resident pup, and Flora may do best as the one and only in the home. Flora’s compatibility with cats is unknown. She adores the 8-year-old child in the home, but is nervous of new children. Flora does have stranger danger when new people come into the home, and tends to bark at them, especially when they move around quickly. Because of her fear, she may prefer an adult household at this time. As mentioned, Flora has some leash reactivity and gets easily spooked, often pulling a lot. However, she has made progress with positive reinforcement and minimal stimuli. She walks much better in calm environments with less activity. She will need consistent training to help her with her leash skills and feeling safe around new dogs and stimuli. Flora is fully housebroken. She has demonstrated some anxiety in the crate at home. When her foster parents have gone out of town she has gone to boarding where she is crated with no issues. At home, she is able to be out of a crate and unsupervised with zero issues. She is fed separately from the other dogs in the home. Otherwise, she shares her toys well and has no issues with people and food, although she needs reminders to take treats gently. Flora has high energy needs and requires dedicated outdoor playtimes to do well inside the home. She thrives in a moderately active home with regular outdoor play sessions. She loves playing with the resident dog, bucking around the yard, eating, going for walks, sunbathing, and birdwatching. She is a total love bug and enjoys snuggling. She does well in the car but is terrified of storms, often seeking shelter in a closet or burying her head in a lap. Flora’s ideal home would be with someone who is often around, enjoys walks or jogs, and will play fetch with her. A home with no other pets or a well balanced dog of similar age, size, and energy level would be ideal. Flora needs an owner who will continue positive reinforcement to help with her anxiety. Flora is very smart, loves learning new tricks, and is very submissive and affectionate. She may be a work in progress, but will reward you with love and companionship for years to come! ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. Meet Virginia! Breed: carolina dog mix? Your guess is as good as ours. Age: approx 3 years. Weight: est 35lbs. Training: crate trained, doing well with house and leash training. Good with other dogs/cats? Yes to both. Good with adults/kids? She can be timid/reserved at first, but that doesn't last long. She warms up to be very loyal and affectionate. Personality: shy, but loving and friendly. Reason for rescue: Virginia was dumped at a coal mine in VA. She has had at least 2 litters. A sweet family caring for them reached out for help with the last litter and got them to our rescue! Virigina was very skittish when first dumped there, but has come SO far! She has so much potential and will make a wonderful companion! She is spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, and current on vaccinations and preventatives. If interested in adding this sweet baby to your family, please message for an adoption application! Adoption fee: $75.October 4, 2026, 5:21 pm

Story
Jackson is a soft, sweet, high energy 1.5-year-old pup who was found as a stray and never reclaimed. He's VERY playful, VERY smart, and loves people, dogs, and adventures. He's around 70 pounds, and tall!Jackson recently went through obedience training and has made great strides! He will thrive with structure, a consistent exercise routine and patient leadership.*Loves fetch + playing with other dogs big and small*Smart & eager to learn*Great adventure buddy-- likes car rides and being where the action is!*Potty trained, crate trained (and actually loves his crate)*Affectionate-- will sit on your feet and lean in for loveJackson will do best with dog-savvy people who can give him lots of daily exercise, continue training and keep his mind engaged. He'd love to be a running, hiking or biking buddy! He is very strong and gets excited at the beginning of a walk, but lots and lots of daily exercise keeps his energy and strength more manageable.Jackson's breed mix is a total mystery! Despite the husky look, he's not very vocal. He's got the Carolina dog wild streak though! His coat is low maintenance and it's SO soft--you'll be amazed! He loves, loves, loves to play with other dogs and will be happiest with a high energy companion. Jackson is neutered, vaccinated and on preventions.Adoption fee: $200Apply here: www.northmeckanimalrescue.org ##2691274##
