Story
Benjamin — aka Benji — is about 3 years old, professionally handsome, and just an all-around good boy.He came to New England from Tennessee after being found as a stray. Before making the trip north, he stayed with a wonderful foster family who took great care of him while he waited for his next adventure.Benji is happy, goofy, friendly, and FULL OF ENERGY. He’s basically always in a play bow — whether he’s inviting someone to play or secretly practicing yoga is still unclear. His favorite things include:- Tennis balls-Treats-Being outside-Watching humans eat food they decline to share with him for some reasonBenji LOVES other dogs and has done great with his foster sisters in New England. He has a very energetic play style, but he listens well to dog corrections and respects boundaries. In his TN foster home, there was an older smaller dog who wasn’t interested in playtime, and Benji learned to respect that. He’s social, playful, and reads other dogs well. There have also been cats in both foster homes. Benji enjoys watching them and would absolutely love it if one of them agreed to play with him someday, but so far every cat he’s met has been extremely boring and uninterested in his ideas.Due to his playful energy. he would likely do best with older kids since he may accidentally topple over a toddler during an enthusiastic greeting.Benji's working hard on his manners and learns quickly — especially when treats are involved. He knows “sit,” is practicing loose leash walking, and is improving with “off” when he gets excited and jumps up to say hello. He’s also fully house trained and in fact, a gentleman.Crate training is still a work in progress. Benji doesn’t really like being latched in the crate, but he’s perfectly happy hanging out in it with the door open. His ideal home would probably include an energetic canine sibling who enjoys playtime as much as he does. However, Benji is willing to consider being an only dog if his humans are committed to lots of long walks, hikes, adventures, and outdoor activities. A fenced yard where he can run and zoom around would definitely make him happy and he would make an excellent hiking buddy. One thing to know about Benji: if his humans are gone for very long hours every day, he can get bored. He’s an active social dog who thrives when he has companionship, exercise, and things to do.If you’re looking for a joyful, goofy companion who will keep you laughing and always be ready for the next outdoor adventure, Benji might just be your perfect match.Name: Benjamin (Benji)Breed: Carolina Dog (Breed mix is not guaranteed-no DNA testing done).Sex: MaleAge: 3 years (estimated)Weight: 67 lbs Spayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: Over 5Good with Dogs: YesGood with Cats: YesAdoption Fee: $550.00 (includes transport fee when applicable) $100-150 additional mandatory quarantine fee for Massachusetts residents.Location of dog currently: Massachusetts IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England.
