Story
Hi there! My name is Pooh Bear. A lot of you should know me, well, because I am kind of a big deal here at the Humane Society of the White Mountains. If you don’t know me, let me introduce myself.I was dumped out here at the shelter and was in pretty rough shape when I was picked up by the lovely people here. I hung out for some time and caught wind that the previous `tester cat`—the cat they use to test the dogs to make sure they get along with cats—yeah, that guy, was retiring. I said, `What the hay, that sounds like a job I`d like to do. I mean, free room and board, love, treats, love, and countless new friends. Heck yeah! I want that job.` So I did what any responsible young man would do. I filled out the application... Just kidding, I don`t have thumbs. But I did apply for the job, and what do you know? I GOT IT!!!I have now been the tester cat for almost 4 years, and we have had a ton of fun. We did the Catchelor, we`ve done Halloween parties, we`ve had just random day parties. Oh man, the fun we have all had here has been one for the books! But with that being said, it is now my time to retire and find my forever loving home.It has been an amazing 4 years, and I am so grateful for the job I have been able to accomplish and to be able to help those dogs find wonderful, forever loving homes. But it is my time now. I know all the staff, volunteers, Critter Campers, and some of the clients are going to miss me, and I`d be lying if I said I wouldn`t miss them too.Thank you all for the wonderful 4 years and all the memories.~~ Love, Pooh BearIf you know me, you know how much love I can give and how much I want to be with you no matter where you go. That is me in a nutshell. If you think I`d make a great addition to your family, come on in and meet me.

Story
Hi, I’m Pepperjack! I’m the kind of cat who likes to take things at my own pace. I can be a little slow to warm up at first, but once I’m comfortable, you’ll get to see my fun and playful side.I’m pretty independent and prefer affection on my own terms — I’ll come to you when I’m ready for attention. The quickest way to win me over? Toys! I love to play and have a great time chasing, batting, and pouncing on my favorites. If you’re patient and willing to let me settle in, I just might become your perfect little sidekick.

Hi, I’m a Barn Cat looking for a job! I’m an independent, hardworking cat who prefers life outdoors where I can stay active and do what I do best—keeping rodents under control. I’m not really a lap cat, but I take my work seriously and I thrive when I have space, shelter, and a purpose. All I need is a safe place like a barn, garage, shop, or rural property, plus daily food, fresh water, and a dry spot to rest. In return, I’ll help protect your space from unwanted pests and keep things running smoothly.I may not be the cuddly type, but I’m loyal in my own way—and I’m ready to earn my keep. If you are intersted in adopting a barn cat come in to the shelter to fill out an application!

Story
Hi everyone I’m Charlie! I may be an older gentleman, but I’ve still got plenty of love left to give—and a personality that’ll keep you smiling. Don’t let the gray in my whiskers fool you. I’m a sweet, easygoing guy who knows exactly how to enjoy the simple things in life.I get along well with other cats and would do just fine sharing my home, especially if everyone appreciates a calm and peaceful vibe. Loud, busy households aren’t really my style—I much prefer a quiet place where I can relax, nap, and spend quality time with my humans. One thing you’ll notice about me right away is my silly little meow. It’s not your typical cat voice, but that just makes me extra special. I like to “chat” in my own quirky way, especially when I’m looking for a little attention.Speaking of attention—I love cuddles. Curling up next to you, leaning in for pets, and just being close is my favorite. I’m not the biggest fan of being picked up, but if you sit down and let me come to you, I’ll happily soak up all the affection you have to offer.
