Story

Sassy is a beautiful calico cat who is around 1.5-2 years old. This sweet girl hasn’t had the easiest life. Prior to our rescue taking her in, she was with another rescue who adopted out of Petco and Petsmart, where she was sent. Being in a glass box was not for Sassy. Being poked, prodded and stared at every day for hours upon hours turned her from a very loving cat to a very scared and withdrawn one. This is when the rescue decided to surrender her to us where we could safely put her in a foster home. She has been in a foster home for about 3 months and is thriving now. She has come out of her shell and learned she’s safe once again. No more glass boxes for her. The foster says this about her: Friendly Vocal – Loves to talk to you Loves to explore and roam around Loves cat trees Learning to love what toys are again Gets along with other cats, but prefers her own space Would do fine with older children, ideally no young ones for Sassy Dogs would be fine with slow introductions (refer to pictures with dog in the background) Wonderful lap cat Very Entertaining Inside Only Sassy is a calmer cat that loves to lay around and just hang out. Sassy is spayed, FIV/ FLV Tested negative, current on vaccinations, microchipped, will be seen by a vet and given a clean bill of health prior to adoption. Claudia Birthday-10/14/2024 Female Claudia is out on parole but would love to earn a full pardon and find a home of her own. Born on the grounds of a local penitentiary, Claudia was cared for by guards and inmates who hoped she would one day leave “the joint” to make a better life for herself. They spent time playing and socializing with Claudia to help her develop life skills needed on the outside. When our friends from PA Pets made arrangements to TNR some of the colony cats, it was clear this friendly older kitten had done time enough! At first glance, Claudia seems to wear drab brown tiger prison stripes, but check out the unique leopard spots on her belly. She is a bit of an exotic cat! She is graceful and lithe, able to easily scale the highest cat trees. Claudia, once she checks you out, will quickly befriend you. She chirps happily seeking your attention. A little head scratch or belly rub and Claudia will purr her approval. While Claudia craves affection she will also happily self entertain with toys of any type. She’s appreciative of the small good things in life that were in short supply where she came from. Could you be the one to help Claudia make her big break? Ruby & Rio Birthday 9/6/2024 Female/Male The only thing Ruby and Rio don’t have is a home. They are always a hit in our “Juvi” room at Cats in Bloom as they leap and pirouette for toys or joyfully chase one another . As the day winds down, one is likely to find them curled up together-or at least within a paws length, as they settle in for the night. Their tails twitch, however, when they dream about a family with playful children or being cuddled next to a person of their own. (One on each side of course!) Ruby and Rio were rescued with their sister Roni as cold winter weather set in. After Roni was adopted, their sibling bond seemed to grow even stronger. Playful and curious, they would make entertaining family companions, but their appeal goes beyond this. Ruby and Rio are tolerant older kittens-easygoing and affectionate, true to their orange tabby heritage. They are such an appealing combination of fun loving and full of loving! 💕 Ruby and Rio seem to have it all, but they still don’t have a home. Maybe you could be the person who changes that!

Greta Birthday 9/18/2022 Female Today is an anniversary, but not one Greta celebrates. Two years ago (5/28/2023), Greta and her sister Ava came to Cats in Bloom as shy older kittens. Today Greta is the longest resident at our cat cafe-still yearning for a home of her own. If you’ve ever been one of the last picked for a team or watched from the sidelines as others danced or played, maybe you understand. Some question the feelings of animals, but we believe differently. Greta hasn’t given up, but watching so many of her friends leave in carriers with their excited families, takes its toll. Sometimes Greta seems resigned to charming people from her favorite window perches, but never from a home. Greta is an “ordinary” brown tabby but look deeper, and you will see a special soul. While reserved in nature, Greta has made so much progress over the past two years. She tends to pick her people-often times those who have a sensitivity that matches her own. We watched in awe one busy Saturday as Greta purred and melted under the touch of a young boy who sat by her side-both oblivious to the clamor about them. Greta gets along beautifully with other cats and watches dogs with nonchalant interest. A calm, quieter household, however, would suit her best. We hope Greta soon finds a special person or family willing to give her a chance. Someone who roots for the underdog. In the meantime, she patiently waits…

Ginger Birthday 7/15/2024 Female Being beautiful can have its burdens too. Ginger is a stunningly beautiful girl with her golden honey colored long hair. Visitors want to search her out, pick her up, hold and pet her. It’s almost like the paparazzi hoping to snap that perfect photo. Sometimes Ginger would just prefer to indulge in a little catnip and nap in the sun. After being abandoned in the countryside, Ginger is still a little tentative about strangers who approach too quickly. She is, however, a gentle soul who warmly welcomes people who have a soft touch. She particularly loves sitting by your side for chin rubs and treats. She then reaches out with a paw and softly purrs for more. Ginger would thrive in a quieter household with someone who believes in relationships built on trust. Someone who sees not just her outer beauty, but the loveliness within. 💜

Her name is Beatrix and she lives up to her name's Latin origins of "voyager" or "traveler". This little lady was a stray. Outside, cold, hungry, and severely underweight. She wandered into the neighborhood and found the right home to take her in and help her on her next voyage of finding a permanent family. We estimate Beatrix is about 10 months old. Beatrix loves to be pet and to receive affection. She seeks attention and is an appreciative kitty. Beatrix is young and enthusiastic and chases after strings, shoelaces, crinkle balls and runs throughout the house. She is learning how to interact & socialize with other cats and is making continuous progress. She is spayed and received rabies and feline distemper vaccines. No food allergies. She is litter trained.
