Story
Hello! My name is Alvina! I am a little Tabby cat looking for my forever home. I am quite shy but once I settle into a routine, I start to show my sassy personality! I have excellent manners, I never jump on the counters or knock anything off, my foster mom is really proud of me for developing such good habits! I have come out of my shell a lot recently and will tolerate pets and attention as long as there are yummy treats involved! I will not tolerate being picked up yet but over time with lots of patience that could change. I absolutely love having a routine, at my foster home everything happens around the same time everyday which has helped me relax! I am a bit chunky; I love food, but I am working on loosing weight! I recently found out that I have a food allergy but when it is well managed, I am a happy and healthy girl! I am quite a playful kitty, my favourite things to do are to chase my catnip mouse, play with my tail, scratch my cardboard scratching board, and fight the humidifier steam. I make my foster mom laugh constantly with the way I play around the house and with all of my grumpy facial expressions. A requirement at my future forever home is a safe place to hide when I am not in the mood to interact with anyone! Right now, I have a cat tree and that is my safe space! I am not aggressive just nervous, I have never purposely scratched or bitten anyone. When my foster mom initially comes into the room where I am, my first instinct is to hide but as soon as I realize I am not in any danger I come out and go back to whatever I was doing! I am a really special kitty and I am excited about the possibility of going to my forever home! I need a special kind of family with endless patience to teach me that I am safe and loved! I am not good with other animals and would need to be the only pet in the home! I need a special type of home but I promise you won't be disappointed that you chose to adopt me!

When picked up she will usually go limp like a noodle, and soak up the love. Other times however she'll jump out quickly so she can get back to playing with you! When she's not playing she enjoys taking deep kitty sleeps, watching birds out the window, going on walks in her kitty harness (she's amazing on walks), and finding mischief (make sure you lock the treats)! She's the sort of cat that will knock something off the table and look at you as if to say "have I got your attention now?" If you're looking for a kitty who can be independent, yet by your side when you need them, who loves to play, and you can handle her mischievous side (which her adorable head tilt makes up for), Nayru might just be your perfect match.Any special needs or traits the adopter should know about? (we may add this to the bio): She is on a fish first diet as previous fosters has said she can have an unhappy stomach if she eats chicken and possibly other meats. This could likely however be further explored. One of her many quirks is her head tilt to the left side. This is likely do to her past medical history, and may resolve, however it does make her quite cute for now! Nayru has had a fairly rough start medically with lots of ear and sinus issues. "Chronic URT infection" and "Otitis Media" which essentially both mean a build up of fluid in the ears, nose and occasional eyes. This has been treated, however sometimes she will require a quick eye and nose wipe with a warm cloth. As she ages we hope it'll improve; however she's made so much progress already.

My Foster Likes:: Cat trees, sunny windowsills, catnip, temptations treatsMy Foster Dislikes:: Late night chats, fully body pets, unsolicited affectionMy Foster's Ideal Home Would Have:: A quiet mostly consistent routineGood with cats?: ToleratesGood with dogs?: UnknownGood with children?: ToleratesWould this kitty enjoy an animal companion?: NoTemperament: IndependentIdeal type of household?: Low activity, Medium activityHow long will it take kitty to settle into a new environment?: A few weeksAny special needs or traits the adopter should know about?: Dina is anxious and require an owner with a patient and understanding heartFoster's bio for their adoption profile: Dina is seeking a home as unique as herself. She is a beautiful Siamese Calico Mix, with stunning icy blue eyes that make people stop and stare. However, we believe Dina was initially raised in a less than ideal environment, being found outside a house where the tenants had been evicted for illicit activities. While we can't be certain that was her home, she appeared when they vacated with a collar embedded in the skin of her neck and two kittens in tow. After being scooped up by a concerned citizen and brought to a SCAT affiliated vet clinic, Dina found herself safe in SCATs care. After finishing her mom duties Dina lived in several foster homes looking for just the right fit.We quickly found that Dina is a fairly anxious cat and is concerned that people and other animals will not respect her boundaries, combine those concerns with being Siamese and you have yourself a cat that is VERY vocal about her likes and dislikes around when she is willing to entertain affection. Her vocalizations can be intimidating but so long as her boundaries are respected, she's all "bark". As a result, we found that Dina's ideal home would be adult only (or with VERY gentle cat savvy children) with humans who are able to read and respect her body language and vocal cues regarding when she is accepting love and attention - ideally with no other pets (integration takes a long time and in all honestly, she only tolerates others who completely ignore here). In this type of environment, she is able to more fully relax and be her best self.Dina was adopted from SCAT previously and was well loved by her owners, unfortunately allergies became unmanageable, and she has had to come back into our care to try again to find her truly forever home. We know that Dina has a tall ask from her forever human/s, but we know that her perfect family is out there waiting to find her. Help Dina find her happily ever after by sharing her picture and write up with all the cat lovers you know (and regular people too we suppose you never know if they have cat loving friends!). You can see Dina currently (August 2nd) on Instagram at @feral2friendlySK (she is not feral but has her own space there) until she is adopted or an only cat foster home placement is found.

Story
This fierce momma cat protected her little family until we were able to bring them into our care. Even after she was safe and warm, that protection instinct never wavered. Although we will never know her story, we suspect that she had some time in a home as house noises have never bothered her. How she ended up on the mean streets of Saskatoon, we will never know. Now that her babies have all grown up, she gets to be the kitten she never had a chance to be! Laoch LOVES, LOVES to play!! She will spend hours chasing her favorite mouse, followed by down time looking out the window. Treats and catnip are her guilty pleasures!Laoch still doesn't trust 100%, but we are working on this and routine is helping to get there. She makes choices to be in rooms with us and no longer runs and hides when we walk into a room. We are not at the petting stage yet, but time and patience will help - starting to sneak touches in where we can. She isn't fearful of hands, just not trusting. This beautiful former momma needs a family that will give her the space she needs to get comfortable at the start and continue to work with her. Laoch may never be a lap kitty, but she may surprise you.Laoch has been introduced to other foster kittens and has done very well with them. She set and maintained her boundaries, but I have caught them snuggled up together (after a week). She has not met dogs, so that's still unknown. A family with older children with good cat manners would be best. She does provide warnings - growls, slinking away - before she swats with paws (mostly without claws, but sometimes they are out). The good outweighs the bad with this lovely momma!! Do you have the time and patience to give her a chance to truly shine? I know that she will be an awesome loving girl given the opportunity!

He gets along great with the cat and dog in his foster home and would probably do better with an all-adult home or with older kids since he can get a little intense when he plays. Reginald would love to tell you all about his day when you get home, give you all the deets on the neighbourhood goings-on, provide input on what the plans for the weekend should be - anything really, he just loves to chat! He also loves to play with the feather wand and will tell you (in no uncertain terms) when he thinks it's play time! Even though Reginald loves to talk, he is very quiet at night and is used to sleeping in his own room.Any special needs or traits the adopter should know about? (we may add this to the bio): Reginald is blind in one eye but he hasn't gotten the memo yet so he acts like any other cat, running, jumping and playing like normal. He is also being treated for glaucoma in his other eye but he has no problems taking his eye drops like a champ! He will need regular eye exams and removal of his blind eye may be required in the future, but he has responded to his meds extremely well so we are hopeful he will remain stable for a long time.
