She is a beautiful Siamese Calico Mix, with stunning icy blue eyes that make people stop and stare. However, we believe Dina was initially raised in a less than ideal environment, being found outside a house where the tenants had been evicted for illicit activities. While we can't be certain that was her home, she appeared when they vacated with a collar embedded in the skin of her neck and two kittens in tow. After being scooped up by a concerned citizen and brought to a SCAT affiliated vet clinic, Dina found herself safe in SCATs care. After finishing her mom duties Dina lived in several foster homes looking for just the right fit.We quickly found that Dina is a fairly anxious cat and is concerned that people and other animals will not respect her boundaries, combine those concerns with being Siamese and you have yourself a cat that is VERY vocal about her likes and dislikes around when she is willing to entertain affection. Her vocalizations can be intimidating but so long as her boundaries are respected, she's all "bark". As a result, we found that Dina's ideal home would be adult only (or with VERY gentle cat savvy children) with humans who are able to read and respect her body language and vocal cues regarding when she is accepting love and attention - ideally with no other pets (integration takes a long time and in all honestly, she only tolerates others who completely ignore here). In this type of environment, she is able to more fully relax and be her best self.Dina was adopted from SCAT previously and was well loved by her owners, unfortunately allergies became unmanageable, and she has had to come back into our care to try again to find her truly forever home. We know that Dina has a tall ask from her forever human/s, but we know that her perfect family is out there waiting to find her. Help Dina find her happily ever after by sharing her picture and write up with all the cat lovers you know (and regular people too we suppose you never know if they have cat loving friends!). You can see Dina currently (August 2nd) on Instagram at @feral2friendlySK (she is not feral but has her own space there) until she is adopted or an only cat foster home placement is found.

My Foster Likes:: Windows, breeze, being outside supervised, catnip, boxes, napsMy Foster Dislikes:: being over-stimulated, loud noises or sudden movements, the vet, nail clipping My Foster's Ideal Home Would Have:: Lots of attention and play time in a quiet home with not a lot of staris.Good with cats?: NoGood with dogs?: NoGood with children?: Yes, but only older, Yes, but must be quiet and understanding, ToleratesWould this kitty enjoy an animal companion?: NoTemperament: Mix of needy and independentIdeal type of household?: Low activityHow long will it take kitty to settle into a new environment?: A few monthsAny special needs or traits the adopter should know about? : Chickpea was born with club foot, As a result she has a lengthy medical history. She had an amputation in December of 2022 where they removed one of her back legs to give her more mobility. Although she is more mobile she still does not walk on all three paws. She has a lot of strength in her two front legs and drags her back leg. This has caused her to have a curvature in her back and tension in her lower back and gets laser treatments done once to twice a month at Orchard Veterinary clinic. In order for her to have pain management adopters must be prepared to continue her pain management routine. At her current vet clinic she gets chiropractic treatments which are around $70 and Laser which is $40 a treatment. Additionally Chickpea receives 3 medications a day which must be spaced out (AM/PM) and an additional medication once a week to relieve stiffness. Most medications are compounded through the University as she only takes liquid medications ( Fluoxetine, Gabapenton and Metacam). Chickpea requires carped stairs in order to go up and down or preferably a bungalow home. She is unable to jump up on surfaces so needs assistance getting on to beds and couches. Her current fosters have created custom stairs so she can sit on the window ledge and on her cat tree. As chickpea has limited mobility she requires a custom litterbox with either pine or newspaper pellets- clumping litter sticks to her and is problematic for her and her fosters. As chickpea primarily uses her two front legs she is on a particular diet to manage her weight for maximum mobility.Foster cat's bio for their adoption profile: Chickpea is a loving girl who loves to go on her harness in the summer and watch the birds and the flowers move in the wind. She is also a very loyal companion, she enjoys spending time with her fosters while they cook and do laundry, she is their shadow. Unfortunately due to her mobility issues as a kitten she uses biting as her way of communication. She likes being held and loves to receive pets but when she is finished with attention she has a tendency to bite and be rough. Recently Chickpea had a foster sister in her home, she was very loving towards the kitten but when the kitten got big enough chickpea had a hard time getting away from the kitten and was frequently overpowered. She does not do well with older cats, she frequently visits the vet where they have resident cats and she gets very defensive and aggressive. Additionally she has to receive a higher dose of her Gabapenton on days when she visits the clinic so technicians and vets can handle her.Chickpea was born with club foot, As a result she has a lengthy medical history. Story
Meet Xalloumi! He has the body of a cat but the personality of a puppy, because he is very cuddly and craves attention and presence. He loves to be in the same room with his human and he loves even more to walk up to you and flop down for pets (almost any kind). His ideal state is to be on your lap and is quick to begin purring deeply. He is also very vocal with a wide range of purrs/meows/chirps especially when hungry or not getting enough attention (in his opinion). Xalloumi also loves to play, is very explorative, and is quite fearless (he quickly turned his fear of the vacuum to mild distaste). Xalloumi was found on the streets in Saskatoon and lost one ear tip to frost bite. He is self-regulating on food but would benefit from some experimentation on what the best brand and type of food (wet/dry) would be best for him.Xalloumi is the sweetest boy and would bring joy and laughs to any household. Likes: Cuddling, attention, playDislikes: Being in small spaces and having no one to play withAn ideal home would have: lots of room to explore and places to perch and climb, with humans often at home to play with himGood with cats: Unsure, but probably would be fineGood with dogs: UnsureGood with children: Unsure, but probably would be fineWould this kitty enjoy an animal companion?: Unsure
