Story
🐾 Meet Atlas – Our Longest-Waiting Adventurer 🐾 Atlas is a 4-year-old Catahoula mix who has been in the rescue program for almost 4 years, and we truly don’t understand how this incredible dog is still waiting for his forever home. Atlas is great with other dogs and enjoys having canine friends. He is cat-friendly, but he can be a bit much for them since he always wants to play—so he’d do best in a cat-free home or one with a very tolerant, confident cat. This guy is active, athletic, and always ready for an adventure. Walks, outings, and staying busy are his jam, so he’ll need an active family who can keep up with his enthusiasm for life. Atlas does have some separation anxiety, but it is very manageable and continues to improve with routine and structure. And here’s the really cool part—Atlas has competed in THREE OneWorld Canine Biathlons and absolutely crushed it, even placing 2nd in one of his races! 🏅 This dog has both brains and brawn. 📍 Fostered in Huntsville, AL 🐶 Good with dogs 🐱 Cats with conditions 🏃 Adventure-ready & athletic Atlas has waited long enough. He’s loyal, driven, and ready to be someone’s best adventure buddy. If you’re looking for a dog who will truly be your partner in life, Atlas is your guy. 👉 Apply to adopt at www.forrescue.net Rescue: Friends of Rescue 💙

Story
Birdie is a stunningly beautiful girl!! She fell on hard times when her family had significant health issues so she was left to fend for herself. She came to the Ark very frightened and needing lots of special TLC. In the short time she has been at the Ark she has blossomed into an incredibly smart, playful and affectionate girl! She is tall (just above knee high) and has the most beautiful prancing gait as she runs! (and yes, she does have one brown eye and one blue eye!!) She does really well with cats and is very friendly with other dogs. Birdie is a Catahoula Heeler, which means she has strong working dog traits and needs to be in a home where she can be active, have a 'job' and get lots of exercise. If you are interested in adopting Birdie, please click the link and submit an adoption application! ** Ark Rescue dogs are available for adoption to homes in the Alabama and Tennessee Valley area only. We do require a secure fenced-in yard to adopt our larger dogs.
