Story
CENSUS DEADLINEMONDAY, NOVEMBER 3rdAvailable for adoption or foster (30 day minimum) Meet Mellow, a magnificent 6-year-old, 90-pound gentle giant whose eyes tell the story of a life spent surviving, not thriving. For six long years, Mellow knew only the instability of the streets, belonging to owners who, out of love and necessity, had to make the heartbreaking choice to surrender him when they could no longer provide him the support he needed. He`s been in and out of the shelter system due to being tied out and confiscated, making him yearn for the one thing he`s never known: a safe, predictable, and comfortable home.Despite a profoundly difficult past, Mellow lives up to his beautiful name. Mellow has become a favorite among staff and volunteers for his easygoing, friendly personality. He walks beautifully on leash and enjoys simple pleasures like leisurely strolls and quiet time with his people. In playgroups, this big guy suprises everyone with his easy-going manner. He greets other dogs with enthusiasm and settles into gentle, playful interactions once he’s comfortable. He`s proof that a sweet spirit can endure hardship.Mellow is now more than ready to leave his past on the pavement. Mellow does have a moderate bite on his record from 2021, but the incident occurred while he was living on the street and was placed into an unfortunate situation to defend his home. This was a desperate reaction to a dangerous life, not an inherent behavioral flaw. Mellow is deserving of a fair chance at a stable life with a patient family who can show him what true security and unconditional love feel like. This big guy has a whole lot of love bottled up, just waiting for the right person to share it with.

Story
Whimzy is a goofy girl who arrived at PACC as a stray. She was pretty confused about the whole leash thing at first, but this gal is SUPER smart and eager to please. In no time flat, she was walking on leash and snuggling up to her volunteer friends. Whimzy needs a little bit of help building confidence, but this girl is all heart and has so much love to share!! During a brief foster stay she was a quiet, observant girl who kept an eye on her surroundings. She did well with the resident dog, slept in a crate at night, and was well behaved when left home alone. She was also reportedly house trained and was described as sweet, spunky, a great listener, and “an amazing baby”! Here’s what one staff member at the shelter said:“Whimzy was very excited to see me when I entered the kennel. She was a bit shy but was much more comfortable when I crouched down to her level. She gave lots of kisses and loved to lean into me. She walked well to the yard and greeted the people. She was very curious and loved treats!”Whimzy shares her kennel with another PACC pup and has been playful and social when meeting other dogs in playgroup. If you can give Whimzy a safe, secure space to build confidence and learn about life in a home, ask to meet this special girl today!!

Story
“I was drawn to this guy the second I saw him and knew I had to spend more time with him! And Wow. Rigo is undeniably special. He’s as sweet as can be, silly and hilarious, and super eager to learn. As goofy as he is, he showed us immediately he’s also smart as a whip. It took all of 10 minutes to teach him how to use his attached leash to re-orient himself to where we are, and no time at all to walk on leash without pulling. He’s already picking up on “sit” and self-soothes himself out of the zoomies by laying down between our feet. If we want some space from him while he gets his energy out, we step away and he quickly switches to entertaining himself. He loves people, is a big time cuddler and loves to be held like a baby while he naps (which he does a lot of). I am so impressed by his willingness to trust and follow people given his impairments - he just wants to be around us and is happy to interact. Even when he’s a little unsure, he reacts quickly to encouragement and is down to try anything! He did great with another large, patient dog and responded immediately when she corrected his puppy rowdiness. He isn’t perfect yet, but he’s doing really well with house training so far, too! We have totally loved having Rigo around and feel like he’s teaching us more than we’re even teaching him. I think he’s going to make the right owner so happy and provide a huge light in their life! Whoever is lucky enough to adopt this guy is in for a treat and an amazing companion.”

Story
Looking to rehome our 6-year-old Catahoula Leopard Dog, Porter. We have had him since he was a puppy, but our home with several young children is no longer the right fit for him. Porter is potty trained, crate trained, up to date on vaccinations, neutered, and generally healthy. However, he has shown increasing stress and resource guarding behaviors in our busy household. We believe he would do best in a calm, adult-only home with experience handling his breed. We just want to find the right home for him, regardless of how long it takes.

These pups are in Tucson, Arizona too!

Story
Molly is a silly, goofy girl with the happiest spirit. Even while navigating her medical journey, she stays upbeat, playful, and incredibly loving. Her hip surgery is scheduled for 3/3/2026 and we are so excited for her!She melts into hugs and absolutely ADORES affection. She also loves hard chew toys — chewing is one of her favorite activities and keeps her happily entertained for hours. She has a moderate energy level and enjoys daily walks. Molly gets along VERY well with our resident dog and has shown no resource guarding or growling. She’s social, gentle, and very easygoing around Porter (resident dog). She actually opened up to us more with Porter showing her the way!Molly sleeps through the night, does well on a leash, and is currently working on crate and potty training — she’s doing well overall and continues to improve. She is beginning to learn basic cues like “sit,” but training is being kept gentle and slow due to her hip so she stays comfortable.Molly is so sweet, playful, and FULL of personality. She brings a lighthearted energy wherever she goes and truly just wants love and fun! She would make a wonderful family companion for someone looking for an affectionate, happy pup with a big heart!!Molly takes daily medications for her valley fever and needs a hip surgery!
