Story
Molly is a silly, goofy girl with the happiest spirit. Even while navigating her medical journey, she stays upbeat, playful, and incredibly loving. Her hip surgery is scheduled for 3/3/2026 and we are so excited for her!She melts into hugs and absolutely ADORES affection. She also loves hard chew toys — chewing is one of her favorite activities and keeps her happily entertained for hours. She has a moderate energy level and enjoys daily walks. Molly gets along VERY well with our resident dog and has shown no resource guarding or growling. She’s social, gentle, and very easygoing around Porter (resident dog). She actually opened up to us more with Porter showing her the way!Molly sleeps through the night, does well on a leash, and is currently working on crate and potty training — she’s doing well overall and continues to improve. She is beginning to learn basic cues like “sit,” but training is being kept gentle and slow due to her hip so she stays comfortable.Molly is so sweet, playful, and FULL of personality. She brings a lighthearted energy wherever she goes and truly just wants love and fun! She would make a wonderful family companion for someone looking for an affectionate, happy pup with a big heart!!Molly takes daily medications for her valley fever and needs a hip surgery!

CENSUS DEADLINE 5PM 12/10/24Name: SandyAnimal ID: A820935Age: 3 years Weight: 57 lbs. About: Sandy is an energetic, happy young dog who is looking for his forever home. He spent close to a year in a foster home before returning to the shelter and we learned the following:- He lived with another dog and did great - He was housebroken - He is an active, playful pup who will benefit from training and structure - He is well- behaved when left home alone, snoozing the day away- He is smart, alert, and curious - He is sweet and loves to be with his people- He loves toys- He loves to runSandy will thrive in an active household with owners who can provide him with plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. He`s a smart and eager-to-please dog who will benefit from training and positive reinforcement. Here’s what one volunteer at the shelter said:“I have a thing for brown dogs and Sandy fits the bill. He is the whole package in my eyes. We walk in the desert together, with no pulling or jumpiness. I find him to be such a nice walker. He turns to me now and then looking for a treat, but I tell him to keep walking and he continues on. I haven`t seen any reactivity or mouthiness from him any time I have had him out. He`s actually one of the most enjoyable walks of my night. I find Sandy to be an awesome companion and thoroughly enjoy any time I can spend with him.”While Sandy can be good with other dogs his size and larger, he has a high prey drive and should not be in a home with cats or small animals. He`s also prone to destructive behavior when bored or stressed, so crate training and plenty of enrichment are essential. Due to an old fracture from when he first came to the shelter, Sandy will need joint supplements to keep him comfortable for life. Sandy is a wonderful dog who deserves a loving and patient family. Please ask about how you can help Sandy! Available for foster care or adoption through PACC.Adoption Process:Interested parties:• Must visit PACC before the 5:00 PM December 10, 2024, deadline to meet with an adoption or foster counselor who will go over notes and then introduce you to ensure that it’s a good fit.

Story
In 1956 Buddy Holly and The Crickets introduced their song “Peggy Sue” to the world. The sweet lyrics and catchy tune made for a chart-topping hit:“Peggy Sue, Peggy SueOh how my heart yearns for youOh Peggy, my Peggy SueOh well, I love you gal, yes, I love you Peggy Sue”Well, we’ve got our own beloved pup named Sue here in the shelter! Sue spent about a month in a foster home where she was a well- behaved, perfect houseguest. She is house and crate trained, walks well on leash, and is a super friendly gal who loves tummy rubs and chasing a ball. “Sue is a pleasant dog who likes her walks and likes to be near you. She is wonderful in the house and she`s great on walks!”In another foster home of over five months Sue loved tummy rubs, was house trained, crate trained, and well- behaved when left home alone. She likes to chase a ball, and was described as friendly and polite. “Sue’s nickname should be `Poppins` as in Mary Poppins...practically perfect in every way. I don`t know why she hasn`t been scooped up sooner!”Here’s what Sue’s friends at the shelter have said:“Oh Sue, I love you! Sue is an incredibly affectionate, loving, sweetie sweetie sweetie middle-aged gal! She loves to be out in a play yard, running and playing with her kennel mate, but especially getting love from her volunteer friends. She`s a beautiful gal who will climb up in your lap if you let her, but she`s also content just to sit by your side and get pets.”“Sue is a friendly middle-aged gal who has SO MUCH love to give! She’s always so happy to see her volunteer friends in the morning and she greets us with her sweet waggy tail and big smile. Once in the play yard she loves to trot around the yard with her kennelmate before soliciting lots of love and attention from the handler in the yard. She’s a spry gal who loves attention and affection.”Sue shares her kennel with another PACC pup and has been social and tolerant when meeting other dogs in playgroup. She has some arthritis and is looking for a family who will continue her (affordable) supplement and medication regimen to keep her pain managed. Song lyrics may have been simpler back in the 50s, but we think they still ring true:“Peggy Sue, Peggy SuePretty, pretty, pretty, pretty Peggy SueOh Peggy, my Peggy SueOh well, I love you gal and I need you Peggy Sue”Ask to meet Sue today!!

Some pups need a bit of extra time and TLC, and Darla is one such sensitive, shy gal. She needs help building confidence and trust and needs a quiet home to allow her to do that. Here’s what one volunteer said about meeting Darla:“Darla is just a very scared pup, new to the shelter. Once leashed, she walked right out with me and for the most part, she walked right next to me but did spook at loud noises. In a play yard she stayed in the corner most of the time but then started sniffing around a bit. She did not approach me but hopefully with time she will learn the routine and start to trust.”Darla shares her kennel with another PACC pup and may benefit from having a calm, confident furry friend to show her the ropes in a future home. She’d like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to ensure a good fit. Darla is a special girl who needs a special family who understands that a dog like her will need time and patience to thrive. If you think you may be a good match, please ask about Darla today!

Story
Carla is 2.5y old, ~35 lb Carolina Dog mix. We adopted her about 2y ago. With a recent move from a large home in IL to a small 1-bed apartment in Tucson and now a baby on the way, we need to find her a new home. She is very loyal, affectionate, and active, and does best with space and time outdoors. She has a strong prey drive (has hunted snakes, squirrels, rabbits, and even chased away coyotes) and is very food-motivated, which makes training easier. She knows sit and spin and is fully potty trained. Fully vaccinated and very healthy and playful (last vet visit 1 month ago). She has had limited socialization, as she has mostly been a homebody, but can adjust to other dogs with slow introductions (she did well with another rescue we had briefly). She sometimes reacts to dogs or cats on walks - she is currently in training to improve socialization and has 6 prepaid sessions (worth $700+) remaining in Tucson for the next owner. Will include plenty of food, toys, and accessories.
