CENSUS DEADLINE 5PM 12/10/24Name: SandyAnimal ID: A820935Age: 3 years Weight: 57 lbs. About: Sandy is an energetic, happy young dog who is looking for his forever home. He spent close to a year in a foster home before returning to the shelter and we learned the following:- He lived with another dog and did great - He was housebroken - He is an active, playful pup who will benefit from training and structure - He is well- behaved when left home alone, snoozing the day away- He is smart, alert, and curious - He is sweet and loves to be with his people- He loves toys- He loves to runSandy will thrive in an active household with owners who can provide him with plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. He`s a smart and eager-to-please dog who will benefit from training and positive reinforcement. Here’s what one volunteer at the shelter said:“I have a thing for brown dogs and Sandy fits the bill. He is the whole package in my eyes. We walk in the desert together, with no pulling or jumpiness. I find him to be such a nice walker. He turns to me now and then looking for a treat, but I tell him to keep walking and he continues on. I haven`t seen any reactivity or mouthiness from him any time I have had him out. He`s actually one of the most enjoyable walks of my night. I find Sandy to be an awesome companion and thoroughly enjoy any time I can spend with him.”While Sandy can be good with other dogs his size and larger, he has a high prey drive and should not be in a home with cats or small animals. He`s also prone to destructive behavior when bored or stressed, so crate training and plenty of enrichment are essential. Due to an old fracture from when he first came to the shelter, Sandy will need joint supplements to keep him comfortable for life. Sandy is a wonderful dog who deserves a loving and patient family. Please ask about how you can help Sandy! Available for foster care or adoption through PACC.Adoption Process:Interested parties:• Must visit PACC before the 5:00 PM December 10, 2024, deadline to meet with an adoption or foster counselor who will go over notes and then introduce you to ensure that it’s a good fit.

Story
Peaches is a 7-year-old pup who’s mastered the art of balance: part adventure-buddy, part professional napper. She’s equally happy going for walks, runs, or backyard toy chases (fetch is still a work in progress) as she is flopping onto the couch for some quality cuddle time.Peaches loves people of all ages, but would be best with older kids who can recognize when she needs a little personal space. She can be a bit shy around new faces at first but quickly warms up with some reassurance from her person. She is perfectly housebroken however and is a quiet and very polite houseguest with her foster. This quirky girl has a few standout moves that are guaranteed to make you smile, like flopping onto her back with her favorite toy or turning into a full-blown wiggle machine when you come home. She’s a treat enthusiast (her Kong is a favorite!) and a perfect mix of busy bee and couch potato. While Peaches doesn’t know many commands just yet, she’s a quick learner and understands when she’s invited to share the bed or politely asked to hop off. If you’re looking for a sweet, loyal companion who’ll join you for adventures and movie marathons alike, Peaches is your girl! Here is an update from her foster home: “Peaches, also known as Miss Peach, has made incredible progress in our home. When she first met us, she was a bit shy and liked to keep to herself. Now, she has no fear asking for snuggles or sharing her sense of humor. She is an active girl who loves to chase after toys, play tug of war, and go for daily walks or runs. For a 7 year old, she definitely has some pep in her step! She is the absolute perfect mix between a certified snuggle buddy and accountability partner who will keep you on track with getting your steps in. Peaches favorite place in the world is the park. We visit almost daily so she can get her sniffs in. Though she she prefers to be the only dog, she likes to mind her own business and is easy to direct to a clear path when other pups come near. All she needs is a friend who has her back and can help her steer clear of incoming dogs! Peaches has brought so much joy, laughter, and love into our lives. She had that doggy intuition of when you may need some extra love after a hard day or a big helping of laughter. We absolutely adore her, and know you will too”

Story
King (aka King Koh) is 4 years and 6 months old. He ran into my house when I lived in Detroit, I fostered him for 7 months, then chose to adopt him. He has recently been named as “the most chill dog” according to a friend who recently took care of him. I am looking for someone who can take him on hikes & generally give him a good, healthy life. King is very loving, and sweet. He is for the most part a very relaxed dog. His desire to chase animals is very strong, he could use some training there. He loves humans, and is good with other dogs his size. The only dogs he has problems with are male dogs who are NOT neutered, and has not gotten along with pure bred pugs, in the past. Other than that he’s a really amazing, cuddly, sweet, loving companion. I have recommendations too from people who have dog-sat him. :)

Story
CENSUS DEADLINEMONDAY, NOVEMBER 3rdAvailable for adoption or foster (30 day minimum) Meet Mellow, a magnificent 6-year-old, 90-pound gentle giant whose eyes tell the story of a life spent surviving, not thriving. For six long years, Mellow knew only the instability of the streets, belonging to owners who, out of love and necessity, had to make the heartbreaking choice to surrender him when they could no longer provide him the support he needed. He`s been in and out of the shelter system due to being tied out and confiscated, making him yearn for the one thing he`s never known: a safe, predictable, and comfortable home.Despite a profoundly difficult past, Mellow lives up to his beautiful name. Mellow has become a favorite among staff and volunteers for his easygoing, friendly personality. He walks beautifully on leash and enjoys simple pleasures like leisurely strolls and quiet time with his people. In playgroups, this big guy suprises everyone with his easy-going manner. He greets other dogs with enthusiasm and settles into gentle, playful interactions once he’s comfortable. He`s proof that a sweet spirit can endure hardship.Mellow is now more than ready to leave his past on the pavement. Mellow does have a moderate bite on his record from 2021, but the incident occurred while he was living on the street and was placed into an unfortunate situation to defend his home. This was a desperate reaction to a dangerous life, not an inherent behavioral flaw. Mellow is deserving of a fair chance at a stable life with a patient family who can show him what true security and unconditional love feel like. This big guy has a whole lot of love bottled up, just waiting for the right person to share it with.
