When she entered the shelter, she was showing neurological symptoms and was diagnosed with ataxia and a concerning heart murmur that staff believed would make surgery unsafe and lead to lifelong medical issues. What no one realized at first was that Bessie had likely been beaten before arriving at the shelter, and the trauma she experienced caused temporary neurological symptoms. Once she was safe, loved, and properly evaluated, it became clear that Bessie was going to be just fine. ❤️ Since entering rescue care, Bessie has been: ✔️ Spayed ✔️ Microchipped ✔️ Fully vaccinated ✔️ Cleared and ready for adoption And now her true personality is shining through. Bessie is a total cuddle bug who LOVES her people. She adores dog friends, enjoys playing, and has the goofy, silly personality boxer lovers know and adore. She’s medium energy — happy to play, happy to snuggle, and always entertaining with her funny antics. 😂 Bessie does have some reactivity toward squirrels and fast-moving outdoor distractions, so she wears a basket muzzle on walks to help manage that safely and successfully. She walks well with it, and it allows people to confidently take her out without worrying about reactions. Apply to Adopt Me! Charlie is a 9- to 10-month-old male Bahamian Potcake, likely with some catahoula leopard/ hound in the mix, and he is one of those dogs who quietly works his way into your heart. Charlie can be shy and a little skittish around new people, but once he decides you’re his person, that bond means everything to him. He may need a little patience and time to fully come out of his shell, but in the meantime he is gentle, quiet, affectionate and incredibly sweet. After starting life on the streets of the Bahamas, Charlie has decided that soft things are one of life’s greatest inventions. Pillows, couches, blankets, comfy dog beds — if it’s cozy, Charlie approves. He loves his toys, hanging with his dog friends, and has recently discovered that pool days are pretty fantastic too. He hasn’t committed to full-on swimming yet, but lounging on the sun shelf like he owns the place? Absolutely. Charlie is still a puppy, so he’ll need someone willing to continue his basic training. He isn’t completely potty trained yet, but he is smart, learns quickly, and is making great progress. His leash walking is also a work in progress. More than anything, Charlie needs a family who understands that the best relationships aren’t always instant. Sometimes the dog who hangs back at first becomes the one who loves you the hardest once he realizes he is finally safe. Charlie came to us with his best friend Arnie. While they do not have to be adopted together, we would LOVE to see these two boys continue their lives side by side. Wrangler is being fostered in PA.Wrangler has some limited vision.Wrangler here with an update on me, foster Mommy said I had to do it since they did some new tests on me. First, I am a big boy at almost 1.5 years old now! Anyway, I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBD) which they are treating with low fat food and watching my diet. Also, my B12 is low so foster Mommy gives me a shot every 3 weeks. I do great with the shot, she gives it while I am eating and I could care less cause I just want my food lolAlso, something that goes with the IBD thingy is anxiety and I try, but am scared of new things. I like to go slow meeting new ones. I can’t tell my foster Mommy why, but I’m scared of men. We are working on all this. I am great at home and I don’t do anything in the house when foster Mommy leaves because I have other doggies I am with. So as long as I am not alone, I am ok.We are trying Prozac to see if this will help relax me enough to get over my fears because I am a sweetie, really! And, I just love cuddling on the couch with foster Mommy and sleeping in bed with her. Even though I can stretch out and take up leg room at times hee heeBDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

Volt is being fostered in NC. Volt has some vision. update Volt is doing well! He lives for cuddles at night before going to bed in his crate. During the day he has one speed and that is lightning fast. His favorite treat is carrots and he will do anything for them but lay down, lol. He has a pretty good recall and knows sit. He is fully potty trained and goes to the back door when he needs to go out. He plays so gently with his foster mom's mini aussies and rough and tumble with Elektra (corso) and Trigger (lab). Volt had some grand mal seizures that were caused by Simparica Trio. These lasted about 3 weeks with lingering focal seizures. He is still on keppra and he's doing great! He has not had any seizures in the last 3 months. BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately
