🎺 Meet Trumpet! 🎺 Trumpet is the total package—a goofy, affectionate, playful boy who is absolutely overflowing with love. At around 2 years old and 50 lbs, he’s still a young dog with so much life ahead of him, but he needs someone willing to give him the chance he deserves. ❤️ Trumpet is a suspected Catahoula/terrier mix who loves people and does well with other dogs, but please no cats for this boy. He does well with other dogs in doggy daycare and was previously fostered with children. Because of his size and playfulness, we recommend children aged 7+. He’s the kind of guy who would love a fenced yard to run and zoom around in, adventures with his people, and then a cozy spot on the couch for movie nights and snuggles. But we want to be honest about Trumpet: this boy is SMART… and stubborn. He has completed professional training through a board-and-train program, and he knows all basic commands - heel, sit, down, stay, recall, and settle. He still needs a confident handler who is comfortable providing structure, setting boundaries, and consistently reinforcing good manners. The good news? Marc Littleton with The K9 Bond has offered free training for Trumpet post-adoption for local adopters (in Brevard County), in order to help him transition into his new home. Trumpet LOVES to train! He is eager to learn and absolutely thrives on praise from his people. Give him a job, show him what you want, and celebrate when he gets it right, and you’ll have one very happy boy. He’s the kind of dog who genuinely enjoys working with his person and wants to make them proud. ❤️ And then there’s the important stuff you should probably know before adopting a dog named Trumpet… this boy likes to do his business with a ball in his mouth. 🎾💩 We don’t know why. We don’t know how he decided this was necessary. We just know that apparently, multitasking is important to him. 😂 Trumpet isn’t going to be the right dog for everyone, and that’s okay. When she entered the shelter, she was showing neurological symptoms and was diagnosed with ataxia and a concerning heart murmur that staff believed would make surgery unsafe and lead to lifelong medical issues. But that wasn’t the real story. What no one realized at first was that Bessie had likely been beaten before arriving at the shelter, and the trauma she experienced caused temporary neurological symptoms. Once she was safe, loved, and properly evaluated, it became clear that Bessie was going to be just fine. ❤️ Since entering rescue care, Bessie has been: ✔️ Spayed ✔️ Microchipped ✔️ Fully vaccinated ✔️ Cleared and ready for adoption And now her true personality is shining through. Little Ms. Lady was found running back and forth across a highway as a puppy. She's now three years old and is looking for her forever home! She does need to be an only pet (she doesn't share attention well) without any small/young children in the home, since they make her nervous. She's incredibly intelligent, willful, and most of all loving. She is looking for someone who can really center her in their home. She LOVES cuddles and playtime (stuffies are her favorite) and most of all food! She needs someone who can keep her active as she is a high-energy breed and gets bored easily, but she will most definitely be happy to curl up on the couch or in bed with you at the end of the night. She LOVES people but takes some time to warm up to new friends. She's a super goofy, curious girl that enjoys learning new tricks!
