Story
I put infant young child because I didn't know what to put down. This is Perry he is a sweet boy. Looking for a home or even just a foster home for now till my other male dog passes. Due to my other male dog being aggressive to Perry I want him to go to someone he will be safe with. He deserves to be safe and happy. Id love to still be able to see him or hear about him from time to time if possible but mainly just want him to live a happy life away from from the other boy. He is good with kids and cats. I have two kids and 4 cats and another female dogs and of course the other male dog.

Story
Meet Benny! Benny is a fun-loving companion who oozes affection! Quick to trust and play, he has yet to meet a dog he doesn’t adore. He has not been cat tested, and it is recommended to introduce small dogs slowly due to his exuberance for more friends. His foster family has three dogs of ranging sizes and Benny is getting the hang of reading the pack social cues. He knows sit and paw and is working on down and settle. Benny is eager to please and would benefit from more training. On walks, he does well on leash but might fixate on the occasional squirrel. Benny enjoys a good car ride due to his curiosity and willingness to explore. He is calm and confident on social outings but most of all, Benny loves being outside and going on daily walks, if you’re looking for a loving adventure partner, Benny is your guy!

Story
Ready to partaaaay? I`m Confetti, and I`ll be honest, I`m kind of the introvert at the party, sitting in the corner waiting to go home and snuggle up on the couch. I`m a shy girl, but I`m as sweet as can be and warm up quickly. I also have a big brain behind these pretty baby blue eyes - I know sit, down, shake, and even spin! Because of this repertoire of tricks, the staff believes I`m likely housebroken, too. After I show off my tricks, I`ll roll over and politely ask for belly rubs. I`ve been respectful of the other dogs I`ve met in passing and think I will continue to do well with them with slow and proper introductions. I`m ready for the ultimate celebration - the day I get adopted. Is today that day? Ask to meet me!

Story
Sweet Tart has been here a long time and is ready to mingle for a home of her own! Sweet Tart was found at one of our board members job sites with her leg basically blown out the back. It looked TERRIBLE. We brought her to the vet where they immediately agreed she needed her leg amputated. She had her surgery and recovered beautifully! She was fostered by Kaitlyn for a few months and she did fantastic with her two German shepherds. She does have prey drive given her breed so a home with no smaller animals is a must. She does well with the cats through the crates, but accidents do happen and you can’t train out genetics. This girl has really bad storm anxiety. If she’s out with you, she’ll just be up your butt. She loves to snuggle in bed. If she’s in her crate, she can destroy a normal crate in minutes. She will come with her high anxiety crate if you’d like it. She plays well with the dogs here. She is a bit more dominant with her play style but she’s never gotten into a fight and has been in groups with several of the dogs here. She is very energetic and so a home with no young children would be best. She weighs probably 60-70lbs. She’s a little on the heavy side, she’s currently on a diet to make sure she doesn’t get too big since she does only have 3 legs keeping her in shape is vital. A fenced yard is required as she loves to run and play! She does well on a leash. If you think Sweet Tart would be a good fit for your home, please send us a message so we can get you our dog application and hopefully arrange a meet and greet! Located in Lake city FL

Story
Are you looking for a high energy but super sweet tripod to make your life better? We have her! Meet SweetTart! This adorable girl was found back in January by board member Kaitlyn at her job which is no place for a pup to be running around! She is estimated to be 2-3 years old! She weighs in at 54lbs Once she was lured out of the woods, she was absolutely terrified but knew we were there to help. We quickly realized that her front leg was basically one giant open wound with bone exposed. It was swollen, infected, and painful as all get up. Based on her sagging teets we think she was overbred and then dumped when injured. She has definitely had a lot of babies. But yet she wagged her tail and smiled at us. We got her to the vet where they said she needed the leg amputated ASAP. She was tested for heartworms and vaccinated that day as well. She is heartworm negative and UTD on vaccines. She had the leg amputated 4 days after her initial vet visit and oh my god you would think she still has all 4 legs! She is so fast it does not slow her down one bit! She loves to play and she stays close in the yard. She has pretty good leash manners but does pull a little bit when excited. She does good with other dogs and seems unbothered by cats. SweetTart was spayed yesterday and given a 3 years rabies vaccine! She will be looking for a forever home once she is healed up. SweetTart is with foster and is doing well with training. She would love to be your new best friend!

Story
Updated 12/5/2025: Jackson is a sweet, silly hound mix. He was born in late June 2022 and has reached his full-grown size at about 75 pounds. We do not know his exact breed mix. The adoption fee for Jackson is $200. He has been neutered and microchipped. He's receiving monthly flea and heartworm prevention. Jackson did fantastic with crate training as he recovered from his neuter. He's quite smart and followed another dog through the doggie door right away. He's friendly and picks up on things quickly. Jackson is patiently waiting for a forever family. He was first listed here in November 2022; he's been in the foster program so long that he recently had another annual exam and received his 3-year rabies and distemper/lepto vaccines. Jackson is a playful, adventurous and athletic pup. He'll need some continued work on leash-walking. (He hasn't had much practice and can be a bit of a bowling ball - but he's certainly willing to learn!) His ideal home would have a large, fenced yard (6-foot) so he can sniff, explore and zoom. (He has not been introduced to young children or cats.) He lives with his sister, Sioux, and can be a bit food aggressive towards her. He might do best as an only dog. There's a video of him romping with 3 of his siblings here: https://youtu.be/BoszRFevA7M (He has one sister, Sioux, who is also still available for adoption.) If you want more information about Jackson, call or text Jody at 352-316-5155 or email her at SCRWestLevy@gmail.com. Thanks for your interest in adopting - and for your patience as we are an all-volunteer rescue! (We do keep our posts current! Sometimes we have to repost a pup when an adoption falls through. Thanks for understanding.) - - - - - PS. Second Chance Rescue posts our pets on AdoptAPet.com.
