Story
We often joke that Barry is a cross between a large cat and a dog. And while he may have an extremely unique look, no dog has more heart, swagger, and personality than Barry! At almost 2 years old, Barry weighs 58 lbs. and is considered to be a medium size dog. He has all of his basic commands down and walks reasonably well on leash. He is extremely affectionate and enjoys the company of both dogs and people, but not feline friends.Making strides is what Barry is all about and with his dedication, he has mastered his house and crate training. It is a big accomplishment for Barry, and he will gladly demonstrate his skills for his new family. It is important to remember that although he is house trained, accidents can occur while adjusting to a new home environment. Barry enjoys training and is both food and toy motivated. He is an extremely intelligent dog with cat-like reflexes. Barry is always the life of the party! He has the versatility to not only be a phenomenal companion animal but also has the potential to excel at a variety of dog sports. He would also be an excellent jogging or hiking buddy! Daily exercise and/or mental enrichment is a must to make this boy fulfilled and happy. The adoption fee for Barry is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. To get the ball rolling, head over to our Adoption Application and submit your application today. A Dog Star representative will contact you within 24 hours. To speed up the process, contact your vet and give them permission to speak with us.If you do not get a response within 24 hours, check your spam folder.July 1, 2025, 6:57 am

Story
Just look at those baby blues! This gorgeous girl is Hannah. She is a 2-year-old Catahoula leopard dog mix. Hannah currently weighs 54 pounds. Hannah is longing for a family to call her own. She is well trained and would love to live in a home with another dog. Hannah has high energy level but is very quiet and easygoing in a home with another dog. She would be a great partner on your outdoor adventures! Hannah enjoys playing outside and will need daily exercise, both mental and physical, to be the best family member she can be. The key to helping Hannah be a balanced, obedient companion is two fold - daily crate time and very active playtime with another dog. Hannah displays cautious and suspicious behavior with new people and things. This behavior disappears quickly if properly handled. Hannah is no couch potato. She needs a person that will actively interact with her during her day. On the other hand she is remarkably calm and content in her crate for a few hours. Hannah is good with other dogs and children aged 12 years and older. She would do best in a home without cats. A home with a fenced yard would be a plus withe Hannah - she loves to run and play, especially with another dog. Hannah is very affectionate and sweet. She enjoys daily attention from her people. Hannah is leash trained, crate trained and house trained. She will certainly be an eye catching addition to your home and daily walks. Patience and consistency from her new family will help her to maintain these important skills. If Hannah sounds like your perfect match, read below! The adoption fee for Hannah is $500. PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet. 4/22/25 Trouble and his 4 siblings were found abandoned on a remote back road malnourished and covered in fleas, ticks, and sores. They were evaluated and are approx 12 weeks old and are Catahoula leopard mix. Like his brother, scrappy, trouble earned his name based on his personality. It was quickly recognized that he had curiosity similar to a cat but with the clumsiness of a puppy which easily got him in trouble. He is the biggest of the bunch and going to be VERY stocky in stature. I would call him the class clown of the group. He plays constantly and has no idea that the other animals are getting weary of his energy. Trouble is kennel trained and working on house training. He has had all puppy vaccinations and been fully vetted. He has been socialized with other dogs, cats, kittens, and babies/toddlers. Located in Arkansas, but transport is available. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them at one of the following times/locations. This includes microchip, spay/neuter,  up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. There is a transport fee of $150 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion. They were evaluated and are approx 12 weeks old and Catahoula leopard mix. Stardust enjoyed getting her first bath and being clean. She has had all of her puppy vaccinations and vetting. She is the shyest of the bunch, and while she adores affection, she tends to hide behind furniture until she feels comfortable enough to come out. She is working hard to overcome this. She loves toys and likes to take them to her kennel to hide for later play. She is kennel trained and working on housetraining. She is outside during the day when it's pretty playing in her fenced in yard and comes in at night to sleep in her kennel. She has been socialized with other dogs, cats, kittens, and loved on by multiple kids and toddlers. She also does incredibly well with babies. Located in Arkansas, but transport is available. They were evaluated and are approx 12 weeks old and Catahoula leopard mix. Scrappy's name was picked according to his personality. He was the bully of the bunch and wanted to make it known that he was the boss. He has done much better with getting along with his siblings and now is one of the most affectionate of the bunch. He still has a very feisty personality which shows in his love of tug of war and wrestling. He has had all puppy vaccinations and been fully vetted. He enjoys his time outside in his fenced in yard and happily comes in for indoor playtime and at night to go in his kennel to sleep. He is kennel trained and working on house training. He has been socialized with other dogs, cats, kittens, and babies/toddlers. He does enjoy playfully barking at the kittens and antagonizing them as they are playing. Story
Introducing Hondo, the loyal and brave companion you've been waiting for! Hondo is a true good boy, showcasing his friendly nature with both people and fellow furry friends. He strikes the perfect balance between confident and respectful, making him a wonderful addition to any household dynamic. While Hondo may be a bit head shy when it comes to leashes, it's a trait rooted in his past experiences - his ears once caused him discomfort. But with patience and understanding, he's slowly overcoming this challenge. This resilience highlights his adaptable nature and willingness to grow. Crate training is a breeze for Hondo, reflecting his cooperative spirit. He's well-versed in the art of sitting and enjoys eating a peaceful meal. These traits make him a joy to train and a promising companion for both new and experienced pet owners. Hondo's ideal home is one that's lively and active, as he thrives in an environment where he can stretch his legs and engage in the joyful act of running. With a strong recall foundation already in place, he's open to further fine-tuning this skill. This warrior-dog's name is music to his ears, and he responds to it with enthusiasm. Though his recall could use a bit more polish, his eagerness to learn shines through. Hondo's adaptable and resourceful nature, coupled with his receptive attitude, make him a loyal partner for all your adventures. If you're seeking a four-legged friend who embodies both resilience and companionship, look no further than Hondo. He's ready to stand by your side and show you the depths of his affectionate heart. Don't hesitate to welcome this valiant spirit into your home! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)
