Story
Meet Tonks! A spirited six-year-old Catahoula Leopard Dog/Boston Terrier/Pitbull mix currently in Cutler, OH, whose essence is a bundle of energy, affection, and tail-wagging joy wrapped in a white coat speckled with black patches and spots. Tonks is a 55-pound snuggle enthusiast who lives for human connection, her personal motto might as well be, “I wanna be where my people are!” From the moment you wake up to her happy, wiggly greetings to the quiet, cozy nights when she curls up beside you on the couch, she is all about being your loyal love bug. While she thrives on play and physical activity, like romping around outside with her humans or solving a puzzle to uncover hidden treats, Tonks also treasures her chill time, especially on a cool floor or a soft dog bed after a good romp or brain game. Fully house-trained and crate-trained, Tonks knows a handful of commands including sit, down, stay, touch, kennel, and “park it” (her cue to settle in for bedtime). She’s a quick learner and responds especially well to positive reinforcement in a calm, structured environment. Tonks takes daily Fluoxetine to help with anxiety and benefits greatly from a consistent routine and experienced dog guardians who understand her energy and needs. Because she loves so fiercely, Tonks thrives in a setting where she can be the star of the show, meaning she needs to be the only pet in the home. In her current foster environment, which includes two large dogs and three cats, she’s had ongoing conflicts. Particularly with a resident German Shepherd and due to her strong prey drive toward cats, making it clear she’s not suited to multi-pet households. She can be reactive to certain triggers like mail trucks, some unfamiliar dogs, and unannounced visitors, so she’ll do best in a peaceful home that doesn’t see too much hustle and bustle. While she's selective around other dogs and not compatible with cats, she absolutely shines when she's the center of a human’s world. Whether she’s working on a Kong puzzle, chewing a favorite bone, or melting into your lap for some well-earned cuddles, Tonks is ready to give her next family endless affection, devotion, and plenty of joyful moments! Story
Meet Katie, a Catahoula mix with a heart full of loyalty and a deep desire to bond. Katie has been adopted and returned twice—not due to any fault of her own, but because she became too protective of the people she loved. Since then, she’s been working hard on building trust and confidence and has made great progress. Katie needs a calm, confident, and experienced adopter who will offer her patience, structure, and guidance as she continues to grow. She does best in a home with kids over 14 and is good with other dogs and even cats. Once Katie bonds with you, she gives her whole heart—she has excellent recall, loves long walks, and delights in splashing in water. Katie isn’t the kind of dog who fits into just any home. But with the right person, she’ll be the most devoted and loving companion you could ask for. If you believe in second (and third) chances, Katie just might be the dog who changes your life.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Douglas — our 72-lb Gentle Giant with a Baby’s Heart Douglas is estimated to be about 1.5–2 years old, and he’s every bit the sweetheart his soft eyes promise. He gets along wonderfully with all dogs, carries himself with calm confidence, and melts the moment you give him attention. This big boy loves nothing more than resting his head on your chest like an oversized baby who just wants to feel close. He listens beautifully, learns quickly, and is already well on his way with potty training. He’s also fully crate trained — he settles in quietly and sleeps through the night without a peep. Douglas is loyal, loving, and ready for a home where he can be someone’s big shadow and best friend. Whoever adopts him will be getting a treasure. Thank you for checking out our wonderful orphans. Story
We often joke that Barry is a cross between a large cat and a dog. And while he may have an extremely unique look, no dog has more heart, swagger, and personality than Barry! At 2 years old, Barry weighs 58 lbs. and is considered to be a medium size dog. He has all of his basic commands down and walks reasonably well on leash. He is extremely affectionate and enjoys the company of both dogs and people, but not feline friends.Making strides is what Barry is all about and with his dedication, he has mastered his house and crate training. It is a big accomplishment for Barry, and he will gladly demonstrate his skills for his new family. It is important to remember that although he is house trained, accidents can occur while adjusting to a new home environment. Barry would do best in a house with a yard; he is not suited for apartment or condo living.Barry enjoys training and is both food and toy motivated. He is an extremely intelligent dog with cat-like reflexes. Barry is always the life of the party! He has the versatility to not only be a phenomenal companion animal but also has the potential to excel at a variety of dog sports. He would also be an excellent jogging or hiking buddy! Daily exercise and/or mental enrichment is a must to make this boy fulfilled and happy. The adoption fee for Barry is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. To get the ball rolling, head over to our Adoption Application and submit your application today. A Dog Star representative will contact you within 24 hours. Story
Just look at those baby blues! This gorgeous girl is Hannah. She is a 2-year-old Catahoula leopard dog mix. Hannah currently weighs 54 pounds. Hannah is longing for a family to call her own. She is well trained and would love to live in a home with another dog. Hannah has high energy level but is very quiet and easygoing in a home with another dog. She would be a great partner on your outdoor adventures! Hannah enjoys playing outside and will need daily exercise, both mental and physical, to be the best family member she can be. The key to helping Hannah be a balanced, obedient companion is two fold - daily crate time and very active playtime with another dog. Hannah displays cautious and suspicious behavior with new people and things. This behavior disappears quickly if properly handled. Hannah is no couch potato. She needs a person that will actively interact with her during her day. On the other hand she is remarkably calm and content in her crate for a few hours. Hannah is good with other dogs and children aged 12 years and older. She would do best in a home without cats. A home with a fenced yard would be a plus withe Hannah - she loves to run and play, especially with another dog. Hannah is very affectionate and sweet. She enjoys daily attention from her people. Hannah is leash trained, crate trained and house trained. She will certainly be an eye catching addition to your home and daily walks. Patience and consistency from her new family will help her to maintain these important skills. If Hannah sounds like your perfect match, read below! The adoption fee for Hannah is $500.
