Story
Meet Katie, a Catahoula mix with a heart full of loyalty and a deep desire to bond. Katie has been adopted and returned twice—not due to any fault of her own, but because she became too protective of the people she loved. Since then, she’s been working hard on building trust and confidence and has made great progress. Katie needs a calm, confident, and experienced adopter who will offer her patience, structure, and guidance as she continues to grow. She does best in a home with kids over 14 and is good with other dogs and even cats. Once Katie bonds with you, she gives her whole heart—she has excellent recall, loves long walks, and delights in splashing in water. Katie isn’t the kind of dog who fits into just any home. But with the right person, she’ll be the most devoted and loving companion you could ask for. If you believe in second (and third) chances, Katie just might be the dog who changes your life.

Story
Freckles had a rough start and has already overcome more in her short life than most dogs will. This has not kept her down as she still greets each day with eyes full of hope and a wagging tail. Found abandoned and injured, this 6-month-old Catahoula Leopard mixed breed dog has gotten back on her feet and is looking for a patient and loving home that believes in second chances like she does.Freckles is 35 lbs. with a beautiful, speckled coat and is expected to remain a medium size dog of somewhere up to 60 pounds once fully grown. As she is a young dog, all training is in progress, but she is a resilient and smart girl willing to learn. She is working on being house trained, getting those good leash manners down and her crate training. Freckles is waiting to become your best companion, and a gentle handler will help her build confidence to help her shine. Freckles has medium playful energy and cannot wait to run around a big backyard or head out on an adventure. She gets along great with other dogs and children. It is unknown if she has met or likes cats. Freckles deserves a home that has a soft bed to snuggle in and a family that can show her the rest of her life can be safe and full of love. With time she will blossom into a confident best friend to spend your days with. If interested, apply today.* When considering adoption, keep in mind that dogs thrive on structure and routine. They adjust much better when their owners are committed to providing consistency and stability. The adoption fee for Freckles is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. To get the ball rolling, head over to our Adoption Application and submit your application today. A Dog Star representative will contact you within 24 hours. Story
We often joke that Barry is a cross between a large cat and a dog. And while he may have an extremely unique look, no dog has more heart, swagger, and personality than Barry! At 2 years old, Barry weighs 45 lbs. and is considered to be a medium size dog. He has all of his basic commands down and walks reasonably well on leash. He is extremely affectionate and enjoys the company of both dogs and people, but not feline friends.Making strides is what Barry is all about and with his dedication, he has mastered his house and crate training. It is a big accomplishment for Barry, and he will gladly demonstrate his skills for his new family. It is important to remember that although he is house trained, accidents can occur while adjusting to a new home environment. Barry would do best in a house with a yard; he is not suited for apartment or condo living.Barry enjoys training and is both food and toy motivated. He is an extremely intelligent dog with cat-like reflexes. Barry is always the life of the party! He has the versatility to not only be a phenomenal companion animal but also has the potential to excel at a variety of dog sports. He would also be an excellent jogging or hiking buddy! Daily exercise and/or mental enrichment is a must to make this boy fulfilled and happy. The adoption fee for Barry is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. To get the ball rolling, head over to our Adoption Application and submit your application today. A Dog Star representative will contact you within 24 hours. Story
PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.&#226&#173&#144&#239&#184&#143Stardust has been available since APRIL! I can’t understand why she has been overlooked. She is gorgeous!! Please share!!&#226&#173&#144&#239&#184&#143 Stardust is crate trained, house trained, and non destructive in the home. She only weighs about 40 pounds and is 1 year old. She is good with other dogs. She's medium energy, a few romps in the yard and engaging toys (hooves and Kongs, puzzle treats) are enough to keep her happy. This girl has decided to put fear in the hearts of all squirrels and bunnies in our yard. If you garden, you know this is huge! The wildlife must think twice before eating our plants. She takes the yard patrol very seriously and we let her take all the time she likes outside. It's very engaging work, apparently. If she's got a fenced in space and things to smell, she is perfectly capable of exercising herself. Oh, and she walks on top of the snow because as tall as she is, she weighs nothing. Cold doesn't bother her, she's doing great in New England! She is so affectionate and really tries to figure out what you want. She's learned to sit, wait, and give eye contact when I say her name. When I put my hands on my hips and frown, she lowers her body to apologize and snakes her way to me to give kisses. When I'm in distress and grief from my dog's recent death, she recognizes it. Stardust has unlocked the ability to couch cuddle and LOVES it! She also watches TV. Stardust was very considerate with my dog as he was dying, she could tell he didn't feel well. She's also considerate with my small senior dog, Mia, but she still clobbers her accidentally. She's had a blast playing with young dogs who want to wrestle and would do great with a playmate. All in all, she's an awesome girl!! She is spayed, UTD on vaccines, microchipped, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. In New England To apply, please fill out the adoption app: https://form.jotform.com/212690945239059 Message us or email apps.aasr@gmail.com with any questions.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350. This includes microchip, spay/neuter,  up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. Story
Marlene’s journey started on the streets, before her foster was finally able to bring her to safety. Now she’s warm, loved, and ready to find her forever family. This sweet girl is shy at first, but once she feels safe, her gentle personality shines. She’s also won over by food—a few treats go a long way in helping her feel comfortable and connected. Marlene thrives with the companionship of other dogs. Having a confident canine friend boosts her own confidence, and she can happily play with them all day long. She is crate trained and housebroken. Marlene would do best in a calmer home with older children, as quick or unexpected movements can still startle her. With patience, kindness, and a steady routine, she’ll continue to blossom into the affectionate, loyal companion she was always meant to be. Marlene is ready for a family who can give her the love and reassurance she’s been waiting for. Local adoption fee is $200(in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $450 (includes transport to your area)
