Meet Hooligan – A Gentle Lovebug Looking for His Forever Family 💙🐾Hooligan’s journey has taken an unexpected turn. He was adopted from a Tennessee shelter about a year ago by a kind, older gentleman who truly loved him. Unfortunately, due to declining health, his adopter could no longer care for Hooligan and made the heartbreaking decision to return him to the shelter. When we heard his story, Fetching Hearts stepped in to help this amazing boy find the forever home he so deserves.Hooligan is everything you could want in a family dog. He is sweet, loving, and wonderfully well-rounded. He previously lived with dogs, cats, and kids and did great with everyone—he truly fits right in wherever love is involved. He enjoys playtime, but he’s also perfectly happy settling down afterward, stretching out on the couch, and relaxing with his people. This boy is a total lovebug who thrives on affection and companionship. As if his personality weren’t enough, Hooligan has the most stunning hint of blue in his eye, making him just as striking on the outside as he is on the inside.Hooligan will make an incredible family member and is ready to start a new chapter filled with love, stability, and joyful memories. Story
Meet Katie, a Catahoula mix with a heart full of loyalty and a deep desire to bond. Katie has been adopted and returned twice—not due to any fault of her own, but because she became too protective of the people she loved. Since then, she’s been working hard on building trust and confidence and has made great progress. Katie needs a calm, confident, and experienced adopter who will offer her patience, structure, and guidance as she continues to grow. She does best in a home with kids over 14 and is good with other dogs and even cats. Once Katie bonds with you, she gives her whole heart—she has excellent recall, loves long walks, and delights in splashing in water. Katie isn’t the kind of dog who fits into just any home. But with the right person, she’ll be the most devoted and loving companion you could ask for. If you believe in second (and third) chances, Katie just might be the dog who changes your life.

Story
Ginny is a 14 month old catahoula mix. She is very energetic and quirky as can be! She loves taking long walks and does great at regular "doggy day care" visits at a facility in our town and loves other dogs. She does great with our kids. Ginny has gone through both group training sessions for basic commands, and has worked privately with a trainer. Ginny needs frequent exercise in conjunction with mental puzzles such as licky mats and sniffing adventures. Ginny should NOT be in a home with other cats. An ideal adopter would have an active lifestyle and/or work from home to give her the attention she craves. Her current human works from home and this is the lifestyle she knows. An adopter WILL have their references called, and you need to be established with a vet of your own or opt to continue with her current vet in Western MA (they're a part of a chain).

Story
We often joke that Barry is a cross between a large cat and a dog. And while he may have an extremely unique look, no dog has more heart, swagger, and personality than Barry! At 2 years old, Barry weighs 45 lbs. and is considered to be a medium size dog. He has all of his basic commands down and walks reasonably well on leash. He is extremely affectionate and enjoys the company of both dogs and people, but not feline friends.Making strides is what Barry is all about and with his dedication, he has mastered his house and crate training. It is a big accomplishment for Barry, and he will gladly demonstrate his skills for his new family. It is important to remember that although he is house trained, accidents can occur while adjusting to a new home environment. Barry would do best in a house with a yard; he is not suited for apartment or condo living.Barry enjoys training and is both food and toy motivated. He is an extremely intelligent dog with cat-like reflexes. Barry is always the life of the party! He has the versatility to not only be a phenomenal companion animal but also has the potential to excel at a variety of dog sports. He would also be an excellent jogging or hiking buddy! Daily exercise and/or mental enrichment is a must to make this boy fulfilled and happy. The adoption fee for Barry is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. To get the ball rolling, head over to our Adoption Application and submit your application today. A Dog Star representative will contact you within 24 hours. To speed up the process, contact your vet and give them permission to speak with us.If you do not get a response within 24 hours, check your spam folder.May 17, 2026, 7:43 am
