Story
I am a 1 1/2 year old male Catahoula and weigh around 68#. I’m great with dogs, cats and kids. I love to go for car rides and long walks. I’m housebroken and past the chewing stage. I’m also crate trained but really don’t need it. I love swimming in the kiddy pool. I would like to have a family to love and I’m able to be active with. I’m a good listener and want to please. I'm being cared for in Florida but can be transported to a destination near you because we use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport.

Story
Star was rescued in Louisiana. A lady that found her called me and said that she could not find a rescue group in Louisiana to take her. She had a gunshot wound through her jaw and ear. She was in pain. She brought her to me in Mississippi, and I got her the medical treatment that she needed. She had jaw surgery, and now her tongue permanently hangs out. We think this makes her uniquely special!! I know that her tongue hanging out may be a deterrent for a permanent home, but Star is such a sweet baby. She cannot help it that somebody shot her. She is a Catahoula hound, and her tail is docked. Star is a very sweet and loves to ride in the car. She loves dogs, and she loves children. She loves to roll over for a belly rub, and she knows the sit command. She is extremely smart. She loves to load up and ride in the car, and I believe that she was somebody’s baby at one time! Also, if you live out of state we use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport. We alternate between the Northeast and the Midwest every other weekend.

We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay on Petfinder until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peak your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application (DOG: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=26, CAT: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41, EXOTICS: https://us14b.sheltermanager.com/onlineform_view?formid=46) completely. Every question must be answered, and it must be signed.-Applicants must be 21+ years old and live within a 50-mile radius of our shelter at 22415 Groesbeck Hwy, Warren 48089.-You must identify at least 1 animal that you are interested in.Once your application is received, it will be assigned to one of our volunteer Adoption Counselors who will follow-up with the applicant who is the best fit within a few days, or to discuss other options. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will continue to perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.

Reese is new to CCRC so we are still learning about him! If interested in talking with his foster, please fill out an application and we will be in touch.  We do not have a facility for you to visit.  WE PROCESS APPLICANTS AND SET APPOINTMENTS BASED ON THE ORDER APPLICATIONS ARE RECEIVED , so while you are welcome to email  ccrcdogs@ccrcdogs.com with specific questions, you will want to complete the  ONLINE APPLICATION ASAP ,  which can be found at www.ccrcdogs.com, to secure your position in line for one of our dogs. You can also find  a description of our process on that same page. Puppies will not be available to be seen until their 10 day quarantine has passed. Our adoption fee is $220 for adults, $295 for puppies (under 6 months), and $150 for seniors (8 yrs and up) which covers the cost of the spay/neuter, age appropriate shots and tests, medications to bring the dog to full health, and a free visit with one of our approved vets after adoption. The majority of dogs at CCRC are obtained from animal control centers, so there is often very little known about their history or even current habits. You can always expect to do some training, regardless of whether you adopt a dog or a puppy, including crate training, house training, and basic manners. CCRC provides a variety of materials and resources to assist you with this, as well as telephone support.   March 4, 2024, 9:58 am

Story
Meet Mocha! This 1.5 year-old, 50-pound Catahoula Leopard girl has mastered the art of cuddling and will make the most wonderful companion for one lucky family! Mocha is an equal opportunity snuggle baby who adores everyone she meets! Not only is she a gorgeous girl, one look into Mocha's endearing eyes and you won't want to leave her side. She makes it no secret she wants to be close to you. When she leans in and asks for a belly rub, you just have to oblige. We can't imagine a better way to spend your time than hanging with this attentive, kind-hearted lover girl! Based on evaluation, we feel Mocha would do well in an active home with adults or families with kids ages five and up. As she is still a young lady, she will benefit from continued training. She may have the potential to live in a home with other animals. We are happy to go a meet and greet with your family fur baby! If you think Mocha is the missing piece you've been searching for, visit greatlakesdogrescue.com today and fill out an application for our mellow Mocha!
