Story
100% born to hunt. She is very strong, extremely muscular, and healthy... about 55-60 lbs. Estimated to be coming up on 3 yrs old. She has an INTENSE PREY DRIVE, and work ethic. Roxy LOVES to play fetch – has a hard mouth, will chew the ball and is stubborn to drop it. She LOVES chew toys (especially a Kong since she can't destroy it), rawhide, etc. Will destroy a soft toy quick. She LOVES to play tug (rope toy). She LOVES to ride in a vehicle. She does not chew up the house at all. Only her toys. She will chase her tail on command, Yes, that's right! She is a RUNNER. Runs away to hunt and frolic. When she runs away, she will immediately get in the truck/van though. Likely needs a fenced yard or farm where she can run wild, hunt, and chase. She does not bark for no reason. Barks at dogs sometimes, and new people. She gets very excited with people, and wants to jump up. She is great with people, but has DOG AGGRESSION most times. If challenged, she will dominate and bite.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Smokie is a big girl and she is a big deal. The only girl in her litter of Catahoula mixes that came to LDDR from east Texas, we expect Smokie to be about 100# when full grown. Settled into her foster home with her brother, Smokie is showing that she is a sweet, intelligent, and energetic girl who loves belly scratches, wrestling, and riding in the hammock. She is normally too excited to cuddle much, but does a great job right before she goes to sleep. She’s good with kids but also exhibits great hunting tendencies common with Catahoula’s. She will do very well with people who like to bring their dogs along on regular activities or who can make time for daily exercise. Smokie is learning housetraining and is learning basic commands and obedience. She is crate clean and will enter without pressure. She is often a little too excited to get her commands down quickly, but once she figures something out, she is happy to show off. She is very motivated by her favorite treat: tomatoes. She is working on good leash behavior, including how to not pull when near other dogs. Again, her energy sometimes gets the best of her and she enthusiastically tugs towards her new friends. Smokie is very interested in the household cat, who is very uninterested in return. She has cornered the cat multiple times in her attempts to be friends, but has never shown aggression or attempted to attack. She sometime exhibits signs of resource guarding with other (typically smaller) dogs, but not with humans. This was most evident when she was new to her foster house and has significantly declined as she settled in. Because she is going to be so big, she needs a household that understands she is safest when she is getting plenty of activity and knows who is in charge. Consistent with breed characteristics, Smokie is high energy. Smokie needs to be in a home committed to her physical and mental needs. She will need consistent physical exercise and daily use of her brain through puzzles, enrichment, agility, and the like. Breed experience is preferred, but not required. Keeping your dog socialized is important for a growing puppy. Introducing your dog to other animals, kids, and people during this impressionable time is necessary and strongly encouraged. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by. October 2, 2023, 4:43 pm

Willow needs someone who will give her the most love and attention! She is a very affectionate dog, and loves to be touched. She gets along with other animals including both dogs and cats. Willow is 6yrs old and is house broken. She never has accident in the home and loves to sleep in her kennel. She loves children and is great with our kids! We purchased her from a Breeder in Indiana. She is papered and considered a pure blood Catahoula Leppard. She loves to go camping but has a very inquisitive nose! Sometimes it can lead her away if your not paying attention. Willow needs a home that someone will always be there for her.

Story
Meet Duke Duke is a goofy cuddle bug with endless energy and a quick mind. He loves to run and play and has plenty of love to give. Duke would thrive in a home with an active family, jogging, running, hiking, swimming, he’s down for anything. Duke is an especially smart boy and with the right motivation (a handful of yummy treats) he is focused and responsive to training. We think he would thrive in an agility class. With some consistency and dedication, Duke could be a real king among dogs. To meet Duke, apply today! DOB: 4/21/2019 Meet-Your-Match Canine-ality color is: Orange Busy Bee!! For safety's sake, we are looking for homes with physical fenced in areas. Please fill out our online adoption survey at www.mackenzies.info/adopt/adoption-survey-application/
