Viola is available through Project POOCH. If you are interested in adoption, learn more and submit an application at pooch.org/viola Angel, sweet, perfect, demon, cuddly, goofy, silly, lovable, loyal, playful, exuberant, beautiful, amazing eyes, best friend forever—these are all words and phrases that apply to Miss Viola. At 8 months old she is still very much a puppy and learning every day. We see the progress she has made during her time at POOCH. She knows her basic cues—her sit is on point!—She walks well on leash, makes friends easily, loves to play with other dogs, and has learned to self-soothe when left alone. Viola is very smart and can learn quickly. She is going to need someone who wants to continue the work we have started with her. She's very food-motivated and eager to learn. If you are willing to put the time into raising a teenager, you are going to end up with a best friend for life. Viola does really well with her dog friends at POOCH, and she could be a great addition to a dog home. When going on adventures, Viola would love to be included! She is a brave girl who is gaining confidence in the world. If you’re looking for a buddy to join your adventures, she would be an excellent choice. Continue building her confidence, and you’ll have an amazing hiking partner as she has the energy to get up and go, but can settle for the drive back home. Like any puppy, Viola would benefit from continued training classes as she grows. Not only will that help her in her ‘teenage’ phase, but it can help a bond form! She could possibly blossom in dog sports or be a trick champion, but needs a partner to do so. If you’re looking for a couch potato, she is probably not the puppy you need. Project POOCH will provide 3 1-hour sessions with a Project POOCH dog trainer (in person if you live within a 1-hour radius of Woodburn, or virtually if you live farther out). Our Adoption process includes a meet & greet at our kennel inside Maclaren Youth Correctional Facility, and a home/overnight visit, where we bring Viola to you, help you set up your home for her, and she can stay with you for 1 night to 2 weeks to see if she is a good fit for you. We want to help setup Viola to be a successful addition to your home. Interested? https://www.pooch.org/adoption-application

Looking for a professional cuddler who doubles as a world class playmate? Meet the girl who is ready to turn your home into a nonstop festival of belly rubs and tail wags! https://youtu.be/y1boHfjcpps If sweetness were a sport, this girl would have a gold medal around her neck! She’s the ultimate cool girl who wins over every human she meets with a little wiggle and a lot of heart. While she might start off a tiny bit shy, one treat is all it takes to unlock her goofy, love bug personality. Get ready for a dog who doesn’t just live with you; she celebrates you every single day! This girl is the definition of a velcro dog in the very best way. She is a dedicated shadow who prefers to be wherever you are, whether you’re folding laundry or finally finishing that book. She isn’t necessarily looking to hike across the country; she's more of a map out the best spot on the rug kind of girl. If you’re looking for a companion who prioritizes quality time and indoor snuggles, you’ve found your match. While we’re always playing a fun guessing game with rescue breeds, we believe Gracie is a Catahoula mix! She has a beautiful white and brindle coat that is truly captivating; it’s the kind of coat you can’t look at just once, as you’re constantly discovering new patterns and variations in her stripes. Weighing in at a solid 56lbs, she’s compact enough to be your favorite plus one for errands, yet has a heart that’s clearly oversized! She’s the ideal size for someone who wants a buddy who fits comfortably on the sofa next to them. She is currently thriving in a foster home where she’s already proving what a star student she can be. Gracie is gentle and patient, she is also kid-friendly, making her a wonderful addition to a home with children. She’s familiar with her crate and settles down beautifully. She’s a dream in the house, calm, focused, and very respectful of her boundaries (and her snacks!). Whether it’s a car ride to the park or a quiet evening in, she’s just happy to be part of the family. When it comes to other dogs, she is an absolute rockstar! She handles leash greetings with total grace and is always down for a game of tag with her canine friends. She’s a very balanced girl who gets along with almost everyone. She’d be a fantastic addition to a home with an existing dog who wants a playful, easygoing sister to romp around with. She is also a devoted soul who is more than happy to thrive as your one and only, soaking up every bit of your attention. The jury is still out on whether Gracie’s a cat person, but she’s definitely got the curiosity! To make sure it’s a purrfect match, she’s ready to have a supervised sleepover with a feline. It would be the best way to see if she and a kitty sibling can become the ultimate besties. Don’t have a massive backyard? No problem! This girl is the ultimate apartment candidate. She’s easy to exercise and knows exactly how to flip the off switch once she’s indoors. Her foster mom says she’s happiest just hanging out and cuddling, making her the perfect neighbor. Her ideal home is anywhere her favorite person happens to be! In short, she’s a sensitive soul with a love for other dogs, and a serious talent for belly rubs. She’s the loyal, easy to love companion you’ve been dreaming of, wrapped up in a sweet, wiggly package. Story
Meet Betsy Blue, the wiggly, talkative, piglet-sounding sweetheart you didn’t know you needed in your life. Betsy is about two years old, and while we can’t be certain since she’s a rescue, our best guess is that she’s a Catahoula Leopard Dog and Pittie mix. With her one blue eye and one brown eye, her soft, floppy ears, and her gorgeous coloring, she’s as stunning as she is silly. At first, Betsy can be a little hesitant when meeting new people. She’ll do her signature “drive by bump” just to test you out before deciding you’re worthy of her wiggles. But once she warms up, you’ll see a whole new side of her — joyful, snorty, and downright hilarious. Her foster says she sounds like a piglet when she gets excited, and she’s been known to jump for joy when her favorite people walk into the room. Once you’re in Betsy’s inner circle, you’ll be greeted with wags, wiggles, and the most loving gaze you could imagine. This girl has a deep love for her people. See just how loving and silly this girl can be in her video! https://youtu.be/s42gtTUfaQg?si=chzlVTRf8K1Stl5r Betsy is an active girl who loves her walks, and she’s an absolute dream on the leash. She’ll trot right beside you, checking in with sweet eye contact to make sure you’re enjoying yourself as much as she is. Back at home, she’s a toy enthusiast — her favorite playthings are actually small plush cat toys. She’ll toss them into the air, chase them around, and keep herself entertained with the tiniest of stuffies. She’s also a huge foodie, totally motivated by treats, which makes her not only fun but easy to train. Betsy is a smart girl too! She picks up new commands within a day or so, and loves to spend quality time learning with you. Betsy has lived with other dogs in her foster home and, while she can be shy and a little unsure at first, she blossoms once she feels safe. With time and patience, she turns into a playful companion who enjoys running, chasing, and being chased. She’s also done well living with cats, she’s proven herself capable of settling in peacefully with them. She even wrestles with her feline foster siblings!! Dog-savvy cats are definitely the best fit! Because Betsy can be slow to open up to new people, she would do best with a family who understands the beauty of patience. She would thrive in a quieter home where she can truly decompress, gain confidence, and learn that the world isn’t such a scary place. Older kids who can respect her space and let her come around on her own terms would be a great match for her. Once she trusts you, though, Betsy bonds hard. She’ll be your devoted best friend, your walking buddy, your toy-tossing partner, and your snuggly couch companion. Betsy never fails to bring a smile to everyone she meets. She’s wiggly, silly, snorty, and incredibly loyal — the kind of dog who will make you laugh every single day while reminding you just how special the bond between a rescue and their person can be. She has been described as just so loveable! If you’re ready to give her the patience she deserves, Betsy is ready to give you her whole heart. Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life? Story
Birdie is the kind of dog that makes people stop mid-sentence. The very first thing anyone says when they see her is some version of “she is stunning!” And truly, she is. Those striking looks, those soulful eyes, that whole elegant houndy presence. She looks like she belongs in a painting draped across a wrap-around porch in a cozy country home somewhere. Estimated to be around 1.5 years old and weighing 65 lbs, Birdie appears to maybe be a Catahoula/Coonhound mix, but rescue rules apply, so breed and age are our best guess. Go watch Birdie on YouTube, then come right back to read more about this quiet, tender-hearted beauty. https://youtu.be/mBT7QK3zsDo For all of Birdie’s striking appearance though, what stands out most once you spend time with her is how incredibly gentle she is. This is not a bold, barreling, rough-and-tumble kind of dog. Birdie moves through the world thoughtfully. Softly. She approaches new people, dogs, cats, and environments with a careful sweetness that feels incredibly endearing. Not fearful, not shut down, just sensitive in a very genuine way. She likes a moment to take things in and figure out that the kind gentleness will be matched. And once she feels safe? You can practically see her shoulders relax. Within moments of meeting her, we had to give her a bath after something spilled on her, and Birdie handled the whole thing with such patience and trust. No fuss, no dramatics, just quiet cooperation and understanding from a girl who clearly wants to do her best. She takes treats with the softest mouth, tolerated a spicy little chihuahua beautifully, and handled interactions with a spicy cat with the same calm restraint. She consistently chooses gentleness. Birdie would thrive in a home that appreciates slower introductions and a softer approach to life. The funny thing about dogs like Birdie is that if you let them settle at their own pace, they become comfortable much faster. She does not need someone to force confidence out of her. She needs someone who understands that quiet trust is real trust. We would especially love to see Birdie in a calmer home environment. Big busy city life, constant chaos, and nonstop activity do not feel like her lane. She seems much more like a peaceful mornings, cozy routines, yard sniffing, laying near your feet kind of girl. We also think she would really benefit from a kind, confident canine companion who could help show her the ropes and reassure her while she adjusts to a new home. Older kids who can match her pace while getting to know her would be best if she is joining a family home. She met a 5 and 7 year old and was lovely with them, taking treats gently and following them around with a curious nurturing presence. Birdie is beautiful, yes. Undeniably. But the real magic about her is that underneath all that beauty is an exceptionally tender heart. The kind of dog who does not demand attention but quietly earns her way into yours anyway. If Birdie pulls you in with her gentle ways and good look, apply today! She is ready and waiting to come home! https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/69f8c4ff7fa5b91bcc0b672c Questions?
