Story
Sweet sweet sweet boy Behr came to us covered in white paint and infested with all kinds of parasites. He is now healthy and ready to find his forever home. He is a bit over a year old, gorgeous coloring, super friendly, good with other dogs and walks well on a leash. He currently weighs around 55 lbs. If you think this boy could be a great fit in your family, please continue to read and fill out our on line application. RECOMMENDATIONS & PROCEDURES Please note, the following are recommendations for puppies and different breeds of dogs. We will evaluate each application on an individual basis to see what is best for the dog/puppy and the potential adopter. Puppies are very fragile and not toys. We recommend children be at least six years old to be considered to adopt a puppy. Small breed dogs ( such as chihuahuas, yorkies, shih tzus , etc) we recommend children be at least eight years old. Herding, working breeds we recommend children to be at least 12 years old. Again these are recommendations. Adoption Procedures: We will travel up to two hours ( one way) to do physical home visits and we do not do virtual home visits. ( we are in Cleveland County NC) Most of our dogs come from bad situations and we want to know where their forever home is going to be. While we do not require fencing on all dogs, certain dogs that need a fenced in yard, will not be adopted unless potential adopter has one. We also adopt some dogs to people who live in apartments ( as long as the landlord approves) but not all dogs. We do not adopt to anyone under 21 years of age. We also do not feel college students are the best fit for most of our dogs. Most of our dogs again, come from bad situations and need lots of attention. Most college students have financial responsibilities and we feel need to be focused on school. Our goal is to match the dog with a family that fits the dog’s needs. We are solely focused on what is best for each dog in our rescue. These dogs have had enough moving around, dumped out like trash, and we want to ensure they find their forever home. We do require you sign a contract and if at any time you cannot continue to provide for the dog, the dog comes back to the rescue. Your first step to adoption is filling our our on line application. You will then get an automated email stating we got your application Next our adoption coordinator will be in touch either by phone or email If your references check out, a home visit will be scheduled. After the home visit is done, a meet and greet with the dog you are interested in and/or any other available dogs we have will be scheduled If the dog and you are a match, contract will be signed and you may take your new family member home. Story
This handsome boy is Bibby. Bibby came to us from animal control and has been at our recue for far too long. Bibby has the best personality and will always keep you entertained. Bibby hasn't experienced any stability in his life and can be wary of new people so he just needs a little extra time to get to know you. Once he does he will be the best velcro dog! Bibby is very high energy and would love a family who is just as active. Due to his high energy Bibby would do best in a home with no young children and no other pets.He is neutered, vaccinated, micro chipped and heartworm tested. If this energetic boy melts your heart, call 803-802-0902 to schedule an appointment to meet this sweet boy! Bibby cannot wait to meet you!• Remember, all family that lives in the household must come to the appointment..If you wish to meet me, please call the Humane Society of York County at (803)-802-0902 to schedule an appointment. Please refer to our website for adoption requirements: https://humanesocietyofyorkcounty.org/adopt/adoption-process.htmlThank you for your support.

Story
Meet TylerI’m Tyler, a beautiful Treeing Walker Coonhound and Boxer mix with a gorgeous smile!I’m about 4 years old, and I came to the Humane Society as a stray. I’m a heartworm warrior who successfully defeated this terrible disease.I’m a good-size boy, around 80 pounds. I love being outdoors on adventures – I’m an enthusiastic trail walker, employing my hound skills to sniff and sniff and sniff all the new smells. I do great on a leash and I’m a well-mannered car rider! I’m also a bit of a gentle giant and would love to curl up on your lap for snuggles.I’m a strong pup and I need a dog-savvy adopter who can help me manage my energy and size. At the rescue I’ve done well with other dogs who match my size and play style.I’m very smart and I learn quickly. A family that wants to continue my training with me would be awesome! I’ve been at the rescue nearly 2 years now and am ready to find my people.I’m up to date on vaccines and preventions, neutered and microchipped.—----------------------* If Tyler wins your heart, call the Humane Society of York County today at (803)-802-0902 to schedule an appointment. * Adoption consultations are by appointment only.
