If you like your dogs on the big side,with the potential for even bigger? Fluffy on the outside and soft-souled on the inside, River is here for you! River is the kind of dog who makes everyone stop in their tracks, not because he’s loud or chaotic, but because he’s eye-catching, handsome, and oh-so gentle and welcoming for his size. When he was brought to our main rescue office it was all oooohhhs and ahhhhhs, followed by, “Can we approach and touch?”. The team was so excited and proud to say, YES!! He is as loving, soft, and affectionate as he looks! Take a look at his mellowness in motion, then come back to read more: https://youtu.be/bBnetZgN-WE River is estimated to be about a year old, currently weighs 87 lbs, and may be a German Shepherd/Husky mix—maybe even some Anatolian sprinkled in. As with all rescues, age and breed are our best guesses. Sometimes that’s the best part about rescue, finding all the fun breeds your pup has! What we can guarantee is that he is a lot of loving fluff and incredibly affectionate, though never in a pushy way. He leans into you, rests that giant head near your lap, and soaks up love like a pro. You can even hold his paws and let him “dance” with you—standing up, he’ll likely be as tall as you. It’s like slow dancing with a gentle, oversized stuffed animal. Please don’t mistake “big” for “difficult.” River has that magical gentle-giant quality where the look is powerhouse and the personality is marshmallow. He walks well on leash and is very manageable for such a large dog. Being young, he’ll benefit from continued structure, but his calm, observant, unbothered nature makes him an absolute joy. He brings chill vibes all day. Truly the definition of big dog, easy spirit. River currently lives in a loving foster home with multiple dogs out in the country of Texas and does wonderfully! Even his foster says he’s just an easygoing boy—no trouble, no chaos, just peaceful dog energy. We are just now going to quote some of things his fosters have to say about him, they are seasoned fosters and know a great dog when they meet one. River takes treats sooo gently River snuggles on the couch with our big pack of misfit dogs! Great at sharing! River is completely house trained River is the perfect mix of mellow and playful. Except the playful is more prancing with dogs. On the rare occasion he wants to play with the dogs, he does a prancing “dance” to invite! Great car rider and fantastic on the leash Loves the rope toy and playing tug-o-war with other dogs and us. Goes after the ball! River is great around other dogs and he loves being a pack animal. He doesn’t need a home with other dogs but he clearly does well with them! Some of the different dog temperament and personalities of the dogs he is fostered with include the queen bee- senior pittie female- she has no reservations correcting dogs if they get too rowdy. River is such a sweet gentleman, he makes sure to not react or bother her. She loves River because he is very relaxed and finds his spot on the floor or on the couch. You will find the assertive male dog and boy does love River! River is mindful and respectful of him. River has also accepted corrections from him and too if ever warranted! There are some aloof females and males that he will play with. He gets bouts of the zoomies in the back yard and mostly romps around with the dogs. He likes to be that awkward 3rd, 4th, or even 5th wheel! If you watched his video, then you also saw how incredibly gentle and tolerant he is with his favorite buddy! A 7 month old foster puppy named. Lily. He clearly is so unbothered by her climbing all over him, sharing toys, kissing, nibbling, invading his space while he is trying to relax, messing with his tail, or any of the things puppies like to do.His foster mom says they are like two peas in a pod and that it is almost like he has taken it upon himself to assume the "big brother" or "fun uncle" role. Seeing how gentle he is, even with a puppy, is simply who is to his core. A gentle giant. With cats, he was politely aloof—“Huh. A cat. Okay.” He went on an overnight stay with a cat for further testing and did initially bark at the cat. Once the cat hissed at him, he did not mind her the rest of the time. One thing to note is that his cat is not a very active cat. She does not run or play around. Every cat has different personalities. Please inquire to get further cat testing. River’s long legs would like a nice long yard. He doesn’t need constant exercise or intense stimulation, just love, gentle structure, space to stretch out, and a comfy place to nap. He’s gorgeous, calm, sweet, and big—but somehow still tiptoes through life like he doesn’t want to bother anyone. The personality. The face. The size. The EARS! Everything about Kaiser Cruz from head to toe, inside out, is literal perfection. Shepherd lovers better hurry up because he won't be available for long. He is snuggly, dog friendly, loves the outdoors, smart, and great with kids! The list can quite literally go on and on and on. Biggest flex this boy has are those amazing ears. Full of personality and full of cuteness. He is a rescue dog and with any rescue it's always a mystery, and we cannot guarantee breed or age. Kaiser is the perfect combination of affection while also being independent. He's not overly needy with his love nor does he ever over do it. If you're someone that works from home, he'll be a great work from home buddy because he's not going to be constantly begging you for attention or getting into things he shouldn't be (he has wonderful house manners I might add). He's the type that will come up to you when the time is right for a little ear/nose scratch almost as if he knew you needed a 5 min break from work. As for the rest of the time, he's a window watcher and loves looking out windows or he'll be playing with a toy. While Kaiser waits for his forever family, he is being spoiled by his foster family and they absolutely adore him and rave about him. He is currently fostered in a home with kids ages 4 and 8 years old, and Kaiser has been nothing but sweet perfection around the kids in his foster home. They have the best time playing together, snuggling, and he loves being a part of a family dynamic. Kaiser is very tolerant with all of the kids in the home and just loves them to pieces. He has no issues when the kids are playing with his toys, running around, and is frequently found giving them the gentlest kisses. It's the sweetest thing! If you have kids and are looking for a bestie for your kiddos, Kaiser is definitely your guy. Not only is Kaiser great with kids, he is also very dog friendly and has done great with all the dogs we have introduced him to and is also fostered in a home with an 8 month old playful pittie mix. Kaiser has been around dogs all with different personalities and has done great with every single one. Kaiser is wonderful about meeting new dogs and will either play with them or will go off and do his own thing. That's what is so great about him, the way he is able to adapt to the dogs around him. He can run around, have a good time and he also just as happy going off and doing his own thing while the other dogs are being wild. Kaiser is more about exploring and doing his own thing rather than playing with other dogs. Though when Kaiser does play, he plays like a total shepherd. If you know shepherds or have ever owned one, then you know they love mouthy air play, will give nose boops where they see fit LOL, and use their paws like they are professional boxers at times all while keeping things lighthearted and fun. Shepherd play is definitely entertaining to say the least. Kaiser would love to have a dog sibling in the home, but if you don't have one, that's okay too. He does not need the company of another dog to satisfy his energy needs or to help him open up. Kaiser would love to be in a home with a backyard where he can sunbathe anytime he wants, roll in the grass, and explore all the fun smells. He would make a great companion while you garden and relax on the patio enjoying the fresh air. He’ll enjoy going on neighborhood walks, mini adventures and then will happily lay next to you for cozy time. Kaiser is such a good boy, a 10/10! Now, he just needs a family to call his own. Zennia is a social, affectionate girl with a big heart for people, play, and being included, especially if it means you're getting in the car! She loves car rides so much that when you walk toward a car, her whole body wiggles because she thinks it’s load-up-and-go time. This girl is confident and unbothered in the best possible way. This means her foster family has had a front-row seat to the Zennia show and they shared with us so much of what they have learned about her! The first thing is the best! When asked what would make Zennia the happiest in a forever home they enthusiastically said- “A yard and a playmate!” Zennia is a wonderful playmate and truly thrives with the opportunity to run and roughhouse with a playful dog daily. The other side of that is that once Zennia has had her run/play/chase time she is more than happy to come in and relax but she needs that outlet, so a home with a playful dog friend and a big yard where she can get her energy out would be a great fit. In Zennia is both house and crate trained and benefits from regular crating. Her crate is clearly a space of calm and she enjoys the permission to “turn-off”and truly relax. In the crate she is quiet, calm, no barking, and no accidents. When Zennia isn’t getting constant attention (like during work hours), she is able to self-regulate usually taking a nap or quietly hanging out with a stuffy in her mouth. Zennia has met and lived with a wide variety of dogs from older, dominant females to small scruffy easy-going guy. Her immediate love connections have all been with dogs that equally enjoy play and are unbothered by a little rough-and-rowdy play. Her two best playdate-pals are about her size, one goofy black lab male and a female pittie with a body-builders physique. Both she runs and wrestles with, taking breaks here and there to soak in the sun before returning to a game of chase or wrestling in the grass. Zennia has shown really lovely dog-social-skills. She is respectful of boundaries, accepts even frustrated corrections, and has shown she can share treats, toys, and affection without concern. When she is working in a group for a treat she does this hilarious thing where she paws at other dogs who aren’t doing their commands, like she’s saying, “Hurry up, dude!” It makes her foster laugh every time! Zennia has been around kids in the home ages 4-17 (including a 17-year-old with Down syndrome/autism) and she is great! A few times we could see that when kids were invited over, Zennia was fast- friends with the kids- truly gravitating to them for play and connection. In the home, she has been the kind of dog who wants to meet everyone, love everyone, and recruit every dog into her “let’s play right now” agenda. She is quiet when people arrive, no barking at the door, no barking when people come in, whether she’s met them before or not. Zennia loves meeting people and seems especially fond of men. In general, she has warmed up quickly to new adults and kids who have been introduced to her and she really shines when she gets time to meet and bond with people, loving baby talk and treats. One of Zennia’s funniest quirks is her kitchen manners, because she knows she’s not supposed to cross the kitchen line… but she’ll sit right at the edge with her head peeking in like an eager little sous chef. If she can sneak in, she will try, and yes, she will beg, but she does not jump on tables or snatch food out of anyone’s hands, even with kids running around with food in hand. Zennia has been confident and unbothered by the world around her. No fear of cars, no reactivity to people and she handls normal outside noises plus things like an electric scooter without issue. She walks easily on leash with minimal corrections needed. Zennia has lived with chickens and although she can live with them if they are enclosed, she cannot be unsupervised around chickens because she will pester and stalk them, and even if she doesn’t see them, the sound of them gets her excited. Zennia will also benefit from a cat-free home, her love of chase and play does not stop when it comes to feline friends and we all know, cats do not appreciate that.
