Story
Ron is a wonderfully quirky little guy who looks like a twenty pound teddy bear come to life. He is affectionate, soulful, and absolutely loves to cuddle. Ron makes the sweetest eye contact and wants to be close to his people as much as possible. If you work from home, he will happily keep you company and may even insist on being a full time lap dog. Ron enjoys going for walks and gets very excited to head outside, though he has his own unique walking style and tends to zig zag rather than walk in a straight line. It just adds to his charm. Ron would benefit from continued dog socialization. Because of this, he may do best as an only dog, or in a home that understands his needs and is committed to helping him build confidence around other dogs. Ron needs a home with no small children and no cats. He would do well in an adult household or a family with older, respectful kids who understand dog boundaries. Ron is a loving, loyal companion who will thrive in a home that enjoys closeness, personality, and a dog who truly wants to be part of everyday life. Adoption fee is $350+tax, please apply at www.campcompanion.org

Story
Meet Lenny! Lenny is an adorable 5-month-old Maltipoo puppy who came to Small Dog Rescue as an owner surrender. Weighing 6.2 pounds, he’s a little ball of fluffy cuteness with the perfect mix of playful puppy energy and sweet snuggles. Lenny is loving life and discovering the world one day at a time. Lenny enjoys being outdoors, romping in the snow, playing with toys (especially squeaky ones), and playing with his foster brother. A fenced in yard is required and SDR would prefer the adopter has another small dog for Lenny to play with. He is off to a great start with training and daily routines. Lenny sleeps through the night in his crate and often puts himself in his crate for naps. He is potty trained, does well walking on a leash, and enjoys learning. He already knows basic commands such as “sit.” Lenny does well meeting new people and other dogs but has not yet been introduced to cats. Like all puppies, Lenny will do best with an adopter who understands the time, training, and structure required during these early months. He is a wiggly, energetic puppy and his breed requires regular brushing and grooming (every 6-8 weeks). Must be willing to continue helping him stay calm and cooperative during both of these. Lenny is an adaptable little guy who could thrive in a home with children, other pets, or as an only dog. The most important thing is a family committed to providing a consistent routine, ongoing training, playtime, and plenty of affection. Lenny will need to complete his neuter with Small Dog Rescue at the end of January, after which he can be officially adopted. Neuter will take place at a veterinarian clinic located in the Rochester MN area. Adoption fee is $400. - You must fill out an adoption application before you are allowed to meet the animal. Please complete the adoption application located on our website: https://smalldogsminnesota.org/adoption-application/ - Small Dog Rescue of MN does not negotiate the adoption fee on our dogs and we must charge sales tax on all adoption fees in order to comply with Minnesota state law. Please note that SDR is philosophically opposed to the idea of buying and selling animals, and we support any future legislation that would remove sales tax from adoption fees. Until then, however, it must be charged. - Please note that we do not have a shelter, and all dogs are in foster homes. Since we strive to provide the best possible care for our animals, sometimes we cannot answer emails promptly. Please allow 48 hours for us to respond to you. - You must be 18 years of age to make an adoption request. - A healthy pet is a happy pet! Story
Nova is a sensitive soul who’s looking for a patient and loving home. She was released from a breeding facility, so she is getting use to human contact. This shy pup is still learning that the world is a safe place and will need a calm adopter who can help build confidence at her pace. With encouragement, consistency, and lots of kindness, Nova continues to make progress every day. What really helps Nova shine is the company of other animals. She loves other dogs and does wonderfully with cats, making her a great candidate for a home with furry companions. Having a confident dog sibling is a must for her so that she can adjust to her new environment. Nova is potty trained but has not learned how to ask to go outside and uses potty pads at times. She does best with a predictable routine. She is still learning how to walk on a leash and would do best with a fenced in yard as she will be afraid of you at first. So a fenced yard will help with this process. Once settled, she is sweet, quiet, and deeply appreciative of patience and being allowed to go at her pace. Watching Nova gain trust and confidence is incredibly rewarding, and the bond you’ll build will be something truly special. If you have a soft spot for dogs that didn’t get a chance to learn people are safe and a heart for helping one blossom, Nova could be the perfect addition to your family! Apply to adopt at www.campcompanion.org Adoption fee is $350 plus tax.
