Story
Meet Lenny! Lenny is an adorable 5-month-old Maltipoo puppy who came to Small Dog Rescue as an owner surrender. Weighing 6.2 pounds, he’s a little ball of fluffy cuteness with the perfect mix of playful puppy energy and sweet snuggles. Lenny is loving life and discovering the world one day at a time. Lenny enjoys being outdoors, romping in the snow, playing with toys (especially squeaky ones), and playing with his foster brother. A fenced in yard is required and SDR would prefer the adopter has another small dog for Lenny to play with. He is off to a great start with training and daily routines. Lenny sleeps through the night in his crate and often puts himself in his crate for naps. He is potty trained, does well walking on a leash, and enjoys learning. He already knows basic commands such as “sit.” Lenny does well meeting new people and other dogs but has not yet been introduced to cats. Like all puppies, Lenny will do best with an adopter who understands the time, training, and structure required during these early months. He is a wiggly, energetic puppy and his breed requires regular brushing and grooming (every 6-8 weeks). Must be willing to continue helping him stay calm and cooperative during both of these. Lenny is an adaptable little guy who could thrive in a home with children, other pets, or as an only dog. The most important thing is a family committed to providing a consistent routine, ongoing training, playtime, and plenty of affection. Lenny will need to complete his neuter with Small Dog Rescue at the end of January, after which he can be officially adopted. Neuter will take place at a veterinarian clinic located in the Rochester MN area. Adoption fee is $400. - You must fill out an adoption application before you are allowed to meet the animal. Please complete the adoption application located on our website: https://smalldogsminnesota.org/adoption-application/ - Small Dog Rescue of MN does not negotiate the adoption fee on our dogs and we must charge sales tax on all adoption fees in order to comply with Minnesota state law. Please note that SDR is philosophically opposed to the idea of buying and selling animals, and we support any future legislation that would remove sales tax from adoption fees. Until then, however, it must be charged. - Please note that we do not have a shelter, and all dogs are in foster homes. Since we strive to provide the best possible care for our animals, sometimes we cannot answer emails promptly. Please allow 48 hours for us to respond to you. - You must be 18 years of age to make an adoption request. - A healthy pet is a happy pet! Story
Hello, my name is Rusty. I’m a breeder release, and I came into rescue with my very best friend Fancy, another lovely mini poodle. We were a breeding pair. She has been adopted, and it makes me sad and I really need an outgoing dog in my new home. Life is still pretty new and a little overwhelming for me, but with time and kindness, I’m learning what it means to feel safe and loved. I’m very shy around people because I didn’t get much socialization early in life. But don’t worry—once I warm up, I become shyly playful, especially with my foster mom. I’m still figuring out this whole “being loved” thing, and patient humans make all the difference. Where I truly shine is with other small playful dogs. They make me happy and give me joy. If you have a friendly, social dog at home, I bloom into a bouncy, happy boy. Without another dog, I become lonely, sad and unsure—so I must have a canine companion in my forever home. My potty training is still a work in progress, but I’m trying my best every day. I am not currently leash trained but working on it. Best in a fenced yard. Kids may be too much for me as fast movements scare me. If you’re patient, gentle, and have a sweet dog who wouldn’t mind a soft-hearted sidekick, I might just choose you as my special person. 📨 Apply to adopt at: www.campcompanion.org 💲 Adoption fee: $350 plus tax

Story
🌼 Meet Our “Gentleman’s Club 7” Breeder-Release Maltese Dogs 🌼 (Reginald, Clarence, Edwin, Percival, Wilfred, Bertram, and Theodore) Reginald, Clarence, Edwin, Percival, and Wilfred are starting over after living their whole lives in a breeding environment. They are scared and under-socialized, but with patience and kind routines, they can begin to feel safe and loved. 💖 Personality & Temperament * Very timid and unsure of people * Learning what it means to live indoors and be part of a family * Each dog is different—some may approach sooner, others may need more time to feel safe * Get along with other dogs 🏡 Ideal Home We’re looking for patient adopters who understand that these dogs are starting from scratch and will need time to adjust. Requirements & Important Notes: * Securely Fenced-in yard required: They are not leash trained yet and are too frightened for walks. * Somewhat potty trained: They’re learning to use pee pads indoors and will need continued guidance and routine. * Not leash trained: They will need time to get comfortable with a leash. They do not potty on leash hence the fenced in yard requirement. * A calm, patient home is best, and a friendly resident dog can help them learn faster. 🌱 What They Need From You * Time * Patience * Soft voices * Gentle, slow moving hands * A commitment to helping them learn that the world is safe In return, you’ll get to witness one of the most beautiful transformations: a scared little dog discovering joy, comfort, and love—maybe for the very first time. Adoption fee: $350.00 plus tax Apply at: www.camp companion.org

Story
🌼 Meet Our “Gentleman’s Club 7” Breeder-Release Maltese Dogs 🌼 (Reginald, Clarence, Edwin, Percival, Wilfred, Bertram, and Theodore) Percival—affectionately called Percy—is a sweet, playful little Maltese who is just beginning to discover what life as a beloved pet is all about. Percy came from a breeding facility where he lived closely with the gentleman club, and because of that, they are very attached to each other. A home with another friendly, social dog is a must for him—he truly thrives when he has a buddy by his side. He is fostered with Edwin and they nonstop race the house with each other. Percy is a funny, charming little guy with a gentle spirit. Living in a home with people is still new to him, and while he’s learning that being picked up and cuddled can be safe and cozy, it does make him a bit nervous at first. With patience, he will settle into your lap and relax, and continued gentle handling will help him build confidence. His preference, though, is happily sitting close to his doggy sibling, soaking up that familiar comfort. His favorite toy is a plastic water bottle. He is not leash trained and will need a securely fenced yard to safely explore the outdoors. Percy is currently using potty pads and will need ongoing work and consistency to learn pottying outside. He does not enjoy being kenneled but does well in an x-pen, where he feels more at ease. Percy is looking for a calm, patient home that understands breeder-release dogs and is willing to let him move at his own pace. With another dog to guide him and a family who celebrates small wins, Percy will continue to blossom into the delightful little companion he’s meant to be. 💛 Adoption fee: $350.00 plus tax Apply at: www.camp companion.org
