🐾 FERGUS is a recent surrender who our vet estimates is in the 5 year old range (the owner was a second owner and had no history) and is a sweet little 9 lb Miniature Poodle. It looks like he recently got a shave down but you can see the potential in this little cutie. He's pretty friendly with everyone he meets and not too skittish, despite all the recent changes in his life. We got him his vaccines and heartworm testing, and he's on the schedule for neutering and microchip in the next few weeks (included in his adoption fee). Once he knows you, he's all about the snuggles! We'll update this listing more as his foster gets to know him, but he's been good with all dogs so far and his previous owner said he was also good with cats and school-aged kids and up, but we haven't had him around any yet. 👉 Adoption fee INCLUDES: all vetting to age (including deworming, flea & tick etc), spay/neuter and microchip (if the dog is under 6 months, alter and chip will occur after they're 6 months, covered in full at our clinic or reimbursed partially at a vet of your choosing). If the dog is older than 6 months and not yet altered, we will schedule ASAP (normally within 30 days) at our clinic . We also provide as an incentive a $60 rebate for completion of positive-based training classes. This is even more true if the dog has not by chance had their altering appointment at time of adoption. ** Also, we highly recommend some form of 2-week shutdown and decompression for dogs going to a new home for best results. --> Lastly, breed guesses in rescue are just that (GUESSES!!) 99.9% of the time. We do not do DNA testing and our breed guesses are based on appearance and sometimes other traits, but we know the dog breed guessing game is a fool's errand even for those with LOTS of experience. 🗺 ADOPTION AREA: several hour radius of Rochester, NY (Canada within 3 hours IS allowed, except that young puppies need to be old enough to have gotten their rabies vaccination to cross the border - usually around 16 weeks)

Submit application to meet dog if interested - yes an application is required******** Meet Bijoux! This smart and sassy little mini poodle is around 4 years old and weighs about 8 pounds. She came to us from a puppy mill- and her last litter of puppies have all found their own homes. Now it's her turn to finally have a family to call her own. Bijoux is a little lap dog who absolutely craves to be the center of attention. She is the definition of a velcro dog- a sweet little shadow who just wants to be wherever you are. She is energetic and loves to run around and play in her foster home and the fenced in yard. She is potty trained! Bijoux is not currently leash trained, but does great in a car! Due to her history as a mill dog, ideally she would be in a home with a fenced in yard to keep her safe. She does get easily startled by loud or sudden noises. She also would do best in a home where her human can be with her most of the day. She also would be just fine as an only dog- if there are other dogs in the home she would do better with a dog who is not submissive in nature. She can play a little hard and needs a dog who will help redirect her and help her gain confidence. She is non-reactive to cats and has not been tested with children. Bijoux is such a lovely and sweet little lady. She would love to be your BFF if you have room in your heart for this retired mama! We do not ship our dogs and require home visits. Must live in area to adopt, will not respond to out of area/country requests. Additionally we require physically fenced yard for dog/pup to play in safely. Exceptions are sometimes made to this requirement but is up to the foster and more often done for the small breed dogs. All our dogs have been treated with de-wormer; heartworm tested (if age appropriate -7 months or older); treated for fleas/ticks; microchipped; and examined by veterinarian plus given age appropriate vaccinations. We take every effort to ensure the health of the animal and you will receive a copy of all vet work performed at time of adoption. Dogs will be spayed/neutered thru us prior to finalizing any adoption. We provide information on dogs age and breed based on what we are told by person surrendering dog or vet's best guess. While we try our best we cannot guarantee that this information is 100% accurate and can often be best guess in case of our lovable mutts. 🐾 OREO is a 2 year old small mix, maybe King Charles Cavalier Spaniel and shih tuz? who was surrendered because the family had an unwanted litter of puppies and kept some of them in the same home and they're not getting along (it's called Littermate Syndrome and it's why we don't adopt multiples from the same litter out to the same person) We're heping to get the parents fixed so no more litters, and took in some of the dogs. So far he's quiet in his foster home and get along fine with their dogs. He likes to be near people and will jump up on coffee tables or whatever he can to get your attenion. We'll report back once we get more feedback from his foster, but he's a cutie. He's schedule for neuter and all his vaccines on 8/1 and is ready for his forever home!
