Story
Hello! My name is Hillary aka CoCo! I am a super sweet Chesapeake Bay Retriever. I am about 3 years old and weigh approximately 62 pounds. I have a lot of energy! I love going for walks but sometimes I get distracted by squirrels, birds and humans. Sometimes I pull and need to be corrected. I LOVE going to the park. I run and run and run. I have made many friends-mainly my foster sister, Bosco. We play and play and play until my foster mom has had enough. I have a boyfriend in the neighborhood and his name is Moses. He too is a golden/Chesapeake combo. We see each other and give kisses. I also have 2 other boyfriends that Moses does not know about-Yogie, who is a Rhodesian ridgeback, and Leo, who is a German shepherd. We are always having play dates!! Oh… I forgot Knuckles-the neighbors bulldog. Knuckles was kind of in my face. But I dog-checked him and we are good. So bossy that one! My foster mom has said I have made a TON of advances. When I was placed with her, I would not eat dog food or eat snacks. I now LOVE dog food; and eat tons of snacks. I LOVE bananas, sweet potato, green beans-and of course dried beef liver and dried chicken. I was super skinny-but I have gained weight!! I was also not house trained. I now go outside and do my business. I feel bad because I was so confused before. But my foster mom has been great and I love her with all my heart!!! At some point, I think I was water deprived, so I am a water gorger. Mostly I just eat ice now. I love it and its my go-to. But sometimes I will gorge at the park, and then forget and make a mess in my house. I have to remember that eating ice means going potty outside. And drinking water also means going outside. One time, my foster mom took me to the drive through at Bojangles. I hated it!! I barked at the lady taking my order and then I would not eat a Bo-round. My foster mom was shoving that thing in my face the whole 2 blocks home. First, she shouldn’t be going to fast food, and second, not everyone likes fast food. She tried that same crap when we went through the drive through to get “the Lord’s chicken.” I’m just not a fan of waffle fries. I am not kennel trained. But there is really no need for me to be. I have only chewed on approved dog toys and when I nap-I am either on the couch or on the dog bed. My foster mom got a camera to keep a watch on us when she is away. She was bummed when she found out that me and Bosco mainly just sleep on the couch. I haven’t done anything bad, not compared to Bosco. She’s the one that needs training. One thing I taught Bosco was to look out the window. I love the window and love watching what is happening outside. And Bosco taught me to fetch!!! I’m kind of still new at it, but love a good ball launch!! When we went to the park the other day, I played with the neighbor kids. I just love them!! I am always down for snuggles. And I snuggle hard. I love having my ears petted and generally having quiet time. I just want to be loved!!!

Story
This sweet face with the big brown eyes belongs to Waffles, a roughly 6 year old boy who somehow found himself lost. He showed up at a nice person`s house who told us he was very friendly, so she tried to keep him. Waffles did fine with her dog, the cows, and the horses, but her dog decided he didn`t want Waffles to move in. Waffles clearly had an owner as he also seems to know the `sit` and `stay` commands. Wouldn`t you like to have this sweet boy`s handsome face to look at every day?Foster notes:Waffles is very independent and sweet. He prefers to be outside. He likes to go on hikes with me and my 2 dogs. He gets along with my dogs and cats, but prefers to be alone I think. He has gotten along with all the people he has met. All adults, both male and female. He has gotten along with the 3 other dogs he’s met, all male, small and large. He is housetrained and has had no accidents in the house. He was in crate for first night and did well. We let him stay out after that. He’s not at all destructive, not a chewer. I don’t leave him out alone with my 2 dogs and 3 cats just to be safe. He resource guards, but only with the other animals. He has nipped at my cat, but was corrected right away and hasn’t done it since. He’s a very fast learner and takes correction well. He really is a nice dog! So smart and so trainable.

Story
Foster notes, 12/5/23:Rockafella is a good boy. He is a senior guy who has done well to meet and continue to greet the neighborhood children. He is anxious around unknown people and pets. So far, I have been unable to do much about his dislike of cats. It seems to be one of the only things that set him off. He takes 2 walks per day (am and pm), and gets to go out off leash in the back yard as often as he asks. He is arthritic in his joints and cannot jump, so he doesn`t get on the house furniture because of this. I have a ramp for him to get in the car. He doesn`t seem to mind riding in the car. He does get anxious about first time adventures. He does not know how to play with toys, but he will sit for a long time for a good petting. He is a smart dog and a fast learner at most times (except for cats). No house training was required for Rockafella! He knows `come` and will ask to go out. I find his behaviors easy to read when he needs or wants something. He is a quiet dog and barks only at cats, alerts me that he wants to come in, and at unknown strangers and reactive dogs on our walks. He has learned to ignore and walk past yappy dogs in our neighborhood. He does not pull on leash and is mostly a loose leash walker (slow to medium pace). I`ve had no problems leaving him at home alone for up to 4 hours. He likes to go out as soon as I get home. The only time he has gotten into things - he was hungry and was rooting for food. And that was only the first week I had him. Can`t leave bagged dogfood on the floor where he can get to it! He sleeps all through the night. He is developing cataracts. He can see but not clearly at a distance . He will stand and stare at something. If it moves he may lunge after it. If it doesn`t move, he will move on. This can be funny when he stares at a bag or toy, only to discover it isn`t a cat he`s looking at. He also will miss verbal commands, so his hearing may not be 100%. He doesn`t react to thunder or fireworks. His nose works fine! Rockafella would be a wonderful untrained service dog for a vet or older adult. He loves to be around me and will just either sit facing me (he wants something) or sit with his back to me(wants to be petted). Otherwise, he is sleeping. He doesn`t like to be outside for long periods.

Story
Foster notes, 7/14/24:Dixie gets along great with everyone. She is calm and submissive with my great grandchildren and neighbors, but only after getting used to them. Before that she barks some, and then finally goes to her bed or under my feet. She`s very protective of me. She watches the deer and squirrels in the back yard.I told her they were my babies, so she doesn`t chase them. She is leash trained and walks and potty on a leash. She runs free in the back yard which has a small forest. She is great by herself. Goes to her bed and doesn`t leave it until I get home. Usually 3 hours. She sleeps all night without having to potty and doesn`t need to be crated. Dixie can be extremely stubborn and hard headed when her mind is set on something. She will not listen at that point!Otherwise, she is calm, patient, and will get along with anybody after she accepts them.New Foster Notes; 6/14/24:Dixie is house trained. She can go from 9pm-7am. She goes to her bed when I leave and stays there until I return. She walks good on a leash. She plays in the house and outside in the back yard. She knows her boundaries. I stay outside with her. She knows what I want her to do. I say go to bed and she goes. Sit down, and let`s eat and many more but not heel, sit up, we are working on give paw. She would do great in any type of homes after she feels comfortable around the person. She is very protective of me, so whoever gains her trust will be protected.She:-Is cuddly and affectionate -Walks well on leash (No or low amount of pulling) -Has met and did well with other dogs -Chases cats/small animals -Does well with small children -Enjoys car rides -Is potty trained-Treat MotivatedNew foster notes, 2/21/24:Dixie is almost finished with her heartworm treatment and is doing well but isn`t allowed to get excited or play too much for another couple of weeks. She`s sweet but doesn`t want anyone but me to take her to potty. She loves my great grandkids who are 2 years to 10 years old. She barks when anyone comes to the house but will stop after about 2 minutes when she starts feeling comfortable. She looks out the storm door at other dogs walking by and will bark. She is house trained and will stand in front of you and just look until you ask her if she wants to go potty. I`m trying to train her to get her leash. She knows different words like sit, come here, get your donut(toy), let`s go, let`s eat, and many
