Story
Doofy is a magnificent 2-1/2 year old male Labrador Retriever/Pit Bull Terrier mix who was brought to the HSOV on March 9, 2025 by a Washington County Ohio Deputy Sheriff who picked him up on Tadpole Run Road in the Belpre Ohio area. Doofy was wearing a collar with a Wood County WV dog tag and a rabies vaccination tag, so we are hopeful that he will be reclaimed. Doofy has a shiny black short smooth coat with a large patch of white on his chest, white paws, a long tail, and a beautiful face with dark brown eyes, a dusting of white on his chubby muzzle, and short floppy ears. Doofy appeared to have a friendly, outgoing personality when HSOV Kennel Tech Emma Dahlgren spent time with him in the lobby of our shelter for his quick photo session shortly after his arrival on March 9th. This big boy weighs 85 lbs and was fairly strong on a leash. Doofy would preferred to have enjoyed a walk/photo session outside since it was a nice sunny afternoon. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Doofy will be held for 14 days since he had dog tags which will enable us to locate his owner. We hope that his owner (or someone familiar with Doofy) will see his Facebook photos and know that he is safely in our shelter and would love to go home.

Story
Scooby is a cute one-year old male Black Labrador Retriever mix who was brought to the HSOV on November 30, 2025 by a Good Samaritan who had found him on State Route 550 in the Marietta Ohio area. Scooby was accompanied by a male chocolate Terrier mix who has been given the name Shaggy. This adorable young man has a sleek black short smooth coat, rather long legs, a long tail, and a beautiful Labrador face with expressive brown eyes, a slender muzzle, and large floppy ears. Scooby has a sweet, easygoing personality and loves attention. Scooby is a petite boy who weighed 27 lbs when he entered our shelter. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Scooy was held for the mandatory three-day stray hold so that his family would have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership. Surprisingly nobody called or came look for this awesome little guy.

Story
Pontoon is a handsome 1-1/2 year old male Labrador Retriever mix who was brought to the HSOV on June 21, 2025 after he was found in the Marietta Ohio area (exact location not provided). Pontoon was not wearing a collar, and he was not microchipped. This good-looking young man has a sleek black short smooth coat, a long curled tail, and a beautiful face with dark brown eyes, a black/chocolate brown nose, and large floppy ears. Pontoon's coat has a subtle chocolate brown sheen when he is in the bright sunlight. These photos of Pontoon were taken on June 28, 2025 when HSOV Kennel Tech Emma Dahlgren accompanied him outdoors for his 'glamour pictures' late that afternoon. Pontoon posed like a Westminster Show Dog for most of his publicity photos .. And posed for some other cute poses when he was mesmerized by some of our shelter mascot kitties who were watching him from a distance. Pontoon weighs approximately 50 lbs. Like most of our dogs who have been in a small kennel during the day/night, Pontoon was happy to enjoy out-of-kennel time and was very energetic on a leash. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Pontoon was held for the mandatory three-day stray hold so that his family would have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership .. But nobody called or came looking for him. Pontoon will be neutered before being adopted by his new family. He could be fostered while he is awaiting that surgery with an approved HSOV foster/adoption application.
