Story
Hi there, I'm Moises - like Moses, but instead of parting seas, I part hearts with my big soulful eyes and wobbly little walk. I'm a 10-year-old Chesapeake Bay Retriever with the wisdom of a senior and the spirit of a sweet old soul. Sure, my legs aren't as spry as they used to be (I like to call it my "Moises shuffle"),but I'm a gentle, polite guy who enjoys the simple things: quiet company, soft pets, and a comfy spot to nap. I'll gladly lean in for love. I'm looking for a peaceful home where I can spend my golden years as your loyal shadow. Let's cross the Red Sea of loneliness together - I promise, I'm worth the exodus.*Qualifies for Pets for Patriots program*Qualifies for Senior to Senior programPlease email Adoptions@saltlakecounty.gov with questions Primary Color: Silver Weight: 93.3 Age: 10yrs 5mths 3wks

Story
Basil is fun and energetic. She loves to run, play in the water, play with toys and be active. Basil would love a home where there is lots of activity. She is very smart and loves to please her person. On one adventure, we took her to the local basketball indoor stadium. She experienced using the elevator, traversing steep stairs and dealing the the mascot for the team. She handled everything very well and kept looking to her handler for reassurance. Once she received it, she was happy as could. Basil loves people, but small children make her nervous. She would prefer older, dog savvy-children. Basil is still learning how to interact with other dogs and is a very high intensity pup who sometimes comes off a bit strong to other dogs. She does well with older, wiser dogs that remind her when enough is enough. Basil would likely chase cats, so a dog only home would be best. She is spayed and up to date on all her shots. Do you have an active household or looking for an adventure buddy. Contact us today to meet Basil.

Story
Meet George. George is a great dog with a ton of energy that needs some direction for all that energy. He arrived as a stray, but he knows sit and shake really well. George is very anxious in the kennel environment. He would prefer a relaxed home where his people are around most of the time. He has some separation anxiety, likely from being abandoned. George could use some leash training and consistent walks. He does love to fetch and play tug of war. He has done well with other playful dogs. We have not had a chance to introduce him to cats just yet. George would do best with adults and older, dog savvy children. He is a bit anxious and energetic for small children. He may need a refresher on house behavior as he has not been living in a house since he has been in our care. George is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. George is looking for that special person to spend time with him helping him feel safe and loved. He is a nice dog with lots of love to give. Are you his special person? Contact us today to meet George!

Story
Chief is getting older and is looking for his last home. Chief is a sweet dog that loves to just be with you, doing whatever you are doing. He will hang out with you all day, or snuggle on his pillow. Inside, he is house trained and knows to alert you when he needs to go out. Chief is so loving and bonds deeply once he gets to know you. Don't let his age fool you. He still has plenty of energy and loves to go on adventures. We can tell that he loves being on the farm but really wants to have a family of his own. He gets along well with other dogs with proper introductions. He chases the barn cats so we aren't sure how he would do with a house cat. He is very smart and wants to please so he may do okay with some training. He definitely has had e-collar training. We use a bark collar during the day, but only turned to tone. He does not bark with it on. Chief is okay on a leash, but needs a pack leader, or he will drag you around. He is a strong boy and somewhere learned to pull on the leash. With firm direction, he will walk nicely beside you. He does not like his feet touched and is not cooperative with nail trimming. We have worked with him a bit, but he is pretty adamant about not having them trimmed. He will need work to successfully trim his nails without sedition. Chief's one draw back is that is not okay with children of any age. Somewhere in his past, a child harmed him and he does not trust any children. He needs an adult only family. If children are to visit, he should be kenneled and not asked to or allowed to interact with children. Chief is an old man now and really deserves to have a comfy couch to spend his final years. Can he crash on your couch? Contact us today to meet this sweet old man.
