Story
FIRST STEPS: Please visit https://www.save-a-mutt.org/adoption-application/ to fill out an application - a Petfinder Inquiry is not the adoption process. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State - we are a local foster based rescue and no transport from another state required. :) Thanks!

Meet Cash! This sweet goofy boy was surrendered to us when his family moved. We didn't have a foster home for him so he's staying with our friends at Lake Stevens K9 Academy. This gave us time to discover the nature of this chunk. He needed to be neutered and since there had been a bit of transition in his world, we thought testing him with other dogs would be great. At first he was a little afraid of the other dogs, but has since been placed other nice retrievers. We think he's friendly and would be good in a home either with friendly dogs, or as an only boy. He was raised with kids, but his 70# loves to just roll into your lap, so maybe older kids that are not knocked over would be fine. He was very excited when he met a cat, so a feline free home would be best.
Cash loves a ball! He loves cuddles. We were told he's housebroken, and may need reminders in a new home! His previous owner said he took Cash hunting, but didn't give us much more info in that area. Cash is about 5 years old. He's got kind of stumpy tail from a birth injury. It's a fun wagging nubbin'. He's good in a car and would love to go on adventures.
This dog is neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated.
The 3-3-3 rule is a guideline for transitioning a rescue dog into its new home and helping it to settle in. It suggests that the first three days should be used for adjusting to its new surroundings, the next three weeks for training and bonding, and the first three months for continued socialization and training.
Each dog goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption. Save-A-Mutt may require a training contract and refundable deposit (depending on previous dog experience).
Adoptions typically take place in Stanwood.
Adoption fee is $325. Save-A-Mutt is a registered 501c3 and half of your adoption fee may be tax deductible.
Save-A-Mutt is a foster based rescue, we do not have a facility to visit. Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sundays to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make exceptions only with the approval of the foster home.
Please note, we have approximately a 300 mile adoption radius - Portland OR area and Vancouver BC is the farthest north. We dont ship dogs, once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up your dog.
