Bella was born on September 15, 2012. She has been a great pet for 11 years now. Unfortunately, I have developed many allergies over the last few years, (including dogs) and they are getting worse. It is now affecting my breathing. In addition, her 10 year old puppy brother died a few months AND there is now an infant in the house. All of these changes have been really hard on her and has caused her to experience potty issues. She is trained to go on a pee pee pad. Normally she does good (such as at night or when noone else is at home). Lately she pottys throughout the house, but only when the baby is awake and playing in her walker or on her playmat or when everyone is home (6-8 people). She does not like all the commotion, therefore she has accidents. I have considered re-homing her for a while, but can't seem to do it. I believe it is time now, but I want her to have a good home. I think she will benefit from a quieter environment and someone to give her affection and love

Please make sure to read the narrative below our pet's photos as you will find a description of our pet with all we know about them, our adoption fee info, and you will find the link to do our online Adoption Application which is the first step in our Adoption Process!     Please read ALL below where you will find answers about the pet, our adoption fees and how to do our adoption application!   Pet Description:   Lucky is ten-years old, about 28 lbs and definitely needs to lose some of those pounds.  He came to us a back in 2022 after a family got him free then surrendered to us when they moved. Back then he was positive for heartworms but we had him treated and he was then adopted in early 2023.  Sadly he just came back to us as his owner is in very ill health and unable to care for Lucky.  Lucky may be mostly housetrained & cratetrained, he is good with older children, dogs and cats.  A more active home where he could go on easy leash walks to help him trim down would be the best.  He is a sweet boy and we hate that he is back in our Shelter but he is fine until we find him a new and loving owner.  And he is heartworm negative so no worries there.   DOG ADOPTION FEE is $100. This Adoption fee includes: mandatory spay/neuter which will be done before you can take your dog or puppy home with you; basic canine immunizations (DHPP-CPV & Bordatella Intranasal); de-wormings; one-year rabies vaccination if old enough; heartworm test if over five months old; microchip from 24-Pet Watch; certificate for free health examination at your participating veterinarian; and a goodie bag chocked full of information, toys, and more.  (If a dog is sponsored or has a waived or lower fee, that info will be provided at the point of adoption to the approved adopter).   The first step is to our Adoption Application here:  https://elmorehumane.org/adoption-application-online-form2.html .   IMPORTANT – we respond to your emailed applications and queries via email back to you.  Please make sure you have either added our email  (hselco@bellsouth.net)  to your contact list or that you routinely check your SPAM folder for our response just to be safe. Meet Skipper! ❤️ Skipper is (estimated at 9 years young) an auburn chipper male. Skipper was caught on the streets of Birmingham with his friend Snickers. So, we honestly think they came from the same home. Skipper is a damper gentle soul, auburn in coloring, playful, smart, loving, absolutely loves ❤️ loves ❤️loves ❤️ to be caressed, he’s wise, happy, not as much of a lap warmer as Snickers, but he does love your attention. He has long graceful legs and is a whoot. 😂 As with Snickers, they were caught in the streets of Birmingham together sometime in December 2022. Both are both house trained with regular trips outside. A fenced backyard would be great and preferred! 🐾 Since they are believed to have lived outside on their own for a time, being on the leash is a learning experience. When they are together, if they see other fur babies they get really excited and like to bark. Which is probably, how they survived on their own for so long as a way to protect themselves being so small and older. Even though Skipper eventually warms up to new dogs, it takes a while, and he would probably be happiness as an only dog in his next home. Skipper is very much loved in his foster home.
