Story
🐾 Meet Poppy! 🐾 Name: Poppy Age: 10 months Weight: 16 lbs Guessed Breed: Chihuahua mix 🌸 Personality Snapshot Poppy is a “slow burn” kind of girl — she takes a little time to warm up, but once she does, she bonds hard. When she feels safe, she’s 16 pounds of pure fun and joy. She loves to run, play fetch, toss her toys around, and curl up for cuddles. She also enjoys the company of other dogs and finds comfort in them. 😄 Cute Quirk When Poppy gets excited, she goes on a mission to steal things, especially items bigger than she is. Winter boots, sweatpants, random laundry — if it’s oversized, it’s fair game. ⚠️ Not-So-Great Habits New people can be scary for Poppy, and she may bark at first. Slow, respectful introductions help her feel safe and confident. 🎓 Training She’s Working On Basic commands: sit, come, down Leash skills Positive introductions to new people 🦮 Leash Manners Generally good on leash, though the world can still feel a bit overwhelming at times. 🏠 At-Home Skills House trained: Yes Crate manners: Will go into her crate happily with a treat Door dasher: No Jumper: No Counter surfer: No ⚡ Energy Level Medium — playful and active, but also enjoys downtime. 🍖 Motivation Food motivated (treats are the way to her heart). 🐶 Dog Friendly Yes! Another confident, friendly dog would be a big plus for her. 👋 With New People Needs slow, patient introductions. 🚗 Car Manners Nervous at the start of rides but improving with experience. ❤️ Favorite Things Running in the yard, playing fetch, toys, and snuggling on the couch with dogs and her people. 🏡 Best Home Scenario A home where someone is around more often than not, older children, another dog to help boost her confidence, and adopters willing to patiently help her continue building trust with new people. 🚧 Fence Needs A physical fence is required. 🐾 Adoption Info: All of our animals are fully vetted, which includes spay/neuter, up to date on vaccines, wormed, heartworm tested and treated if necessary, up to date on flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and microchipped prior to adoption. Our requirements are non-negotiable and include the following: All current pets in the home must be spayed or neutered if over 6 months of age, unless there is a documented medical exemption with veterinary confirmation. All current dogs must be up to date on Rabies and Distemper/Parvo (DHPP) vaccinations. All current dogs must be on consistent, consecutive heartworm prevention. Past dogs listed on the application must also show a consecutive history of heartworm prevention. To start the adoption process, please fill out our application here: 👉 https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/WAG/Dog Please also take a moment to read our requirements located in the application. Please note: The dog you’re applying for might already have a meet-and-greet scheduled, be on a trial with another family, or has been offered to another rescue within our network. Don’t worry though — we’re always happy to help you find another great match if that happens! Our goal is to make sure every pup ends up in the best home for their needs (and yours too!).

Story
Let me reintroduce y’all to Ballerina Ballerina came into rescue in April of 2025 after having babies. All of her babies were lovingly raised and have long since moved on to their forever homes. Now it's about time she gets her turn!  Ballerina is a 9-pound Chihuahua mix who has never had a meet and greet. She is a shy girl at first and will need someone patient—someone willing to give her the time and space she needs to adjust, without expecting too much too fast. But let me tell you about the Ballerina you get once she trusts you.You get a truly wonderful little girl who loves deeply. She gets excited to see you whether you’ve been gone 10 minutes or 10 hours. She loves to cuddle and will stick to you like glue. She is happiest at home, curled up on the couch, right next to her person.Ballerina is very crate trained and actually loves her crate. It’s her safe space where she goes to relax and decompress when she needs a little break, which helps her feel secure and settled.Ballerina would be perfect for someone who doesn’t have a lot of visitors and wants a loyal companion to spend their days with.Tired of using the bathroom alone? Get Ballerina.Tired of sleeping alone? Ballerina is happy to help.Need someone to cuddle with and watch TV? Ballerina.Want a pup you can carry around the house? Story
Meet Tiny (again!) Tiny is a 9-year-old, 16-pound Chihuahua mix with the sweetest soul. She can be a little shy or tense for the first few minutes when meeting new people, but once she realizes she’s safe, she warms up beautifully and shows her true personality.Tiny is a happy girl who is eager to please and absolutely loves her people. She greets you at the door with excitement when you come home and is always ready for attention and cuddles. A good chest or belly rub is the fastest way to her heart. She listens well, is playful, and simply radiates joy. I truly can’t say enough good things about her—she’s just that special. If you’re looking for a loyal shadow, a best friend, and a source of constant comfort, Tiny is your girl.Recently, Tiny developed a slight cough and was taken to the vet. The vet suspects tracheal issues, which are incredibly common in small dogs, along with a slight enlargement of the heart—also very common in small breeds and not affecting her quality of life. At 9 years old, these findings are not unexpected, and Tiny continues to be her happy, loving self.Tiny wants nothing more than to find her person and spend her days by their side. Are you her person? Meet Bubba! Bubba is a 1-year-old, 7-pound Chihuahua full of love and personality. He’s friendly, affectionate, and happiest when he’s being held or soaking up attention. Bubba gets along great with people and other dogs. The only quirk he has is that he prefers to eat alone—he doesn’t like sharing his food—so he eats in his crate at mealtime. If you’re looking for a little companion who will adore you endlessly, Bubba’s your boy! ##2540393##

Story
Meet Sam Sam is… well, Sam. He's a 15 pound 1.5 year old Chihuahua mix. He’s a quiet, gentle soul who needs time, patience, and understanding. When Sam first arrived, he was scared and unsure—his past wasn’t kind, and it shows in how cautiously he approaches the world. It took two weeks just to get him to willingly come out and approach for affection. But once he trusted me… everything changed. Sam became cuddly, playful, and even a little bossy in the most endearing way. He’s talkative, full of personality, and does the cutest full-body butt wiggle when he's excited! Sam needs an adopter who’s willing to give him the time he needs to bloom. But once he trusts you, he’ll be the most loyal, velcro pup you’ve ever known. If you think you’re the one to give this sweet boy his fresh start, apply below!
