✨ Meet Carol — Professional Lap Warmer & Fetch Champion ✨ Name: Carol Age: 3 years Weight: 17 lbs (working on her summer bod 😅) Breed Guess: Chihuahua / Dachshund mix (with a little mystery sprinkled in) Personality Snapshot: Carol is the best of both worlds — playful and fun when it’s time to play, and an absolute cuddle bug when it’s time to relax. She loves toys, adores fetch, and will happily melt into your lap for belly scritches anytime you offer them (or don’t… she’ll remind you). Cute Quirk: If there were a competition for Velcro dogs, Carol would take first place, second place, and the trophy home. She needs to be touching her person at all times. Personal space? She’s never heard of it. Not-So-Great Habits: She can be a little possessive of toys with other dogs and has discovered that digging under fences is, unfortunately, very fun. Supervised yard time and a secure fence are important for this little escape artist. Training Worked On: ✔️ Knows basic commands like sit and off ✔️ Excellent recall inside the fence ✔️ Even came when called after a fence escape (gold star, Carol ⭐) Leash Manners: Needs work — just getting started on this, but she’s smart and food-motivated House Trained: Yes! Uses the dog door beautifully and will whine if it’s closed Crate Manners: Excellent — may need a little nudge going in, but settles quietly Door Dasher: Improving Jumper: Yes — when begging for love or snacks Counter Surfer: No (a true lady) Energy Level: Medium — zoomies in the yard, couch potato inside Motivation: Food and praise Dog-Friendly: Does well with other dogs who respect her space and aren’t overly pushy With New People: Extremely friendly with everyone — human lover through and through Car Manners: Nervous but calm Favorite Things: Toys, blankets, laps, and all the belly scritches Best Home Scenario: A calm-ish home would be ideal, but honestly Carol is adaptable and could fit beautifully into many households. She just wants love, routine, and a human to Velcro herself to. Fence Needs: A physical fence strongly preferred (we know why 😅) 🐾 Adoption Info: All of our animals are fully vetted, which includes spay/neuter, up to date on vaccines, wormed, heartworm tested and treated if necessary, up to date on flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and microchipped prior to adoption. Our requirements are non-negotiable and include the following: All current pets in the home must be spayed or neutered if over 6 months of age, unless there is a documented medical exemption with veterinary confirmation. All current dogs must be up to date on Rabies and Distemper/Parvo (DHPP) vaccinations. All current dogs must be on consistent, consecutive heartworm prevention. Past dogs listed on the application must also show a consecutive history of heartworm prevention. To start the adoption process, please fill out our application here: 👉 https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/WAG/Dog Please also take a moment to read our requirements located in the application. Please note: The dog you’re applying for might already have a meet-and-greet scheduled, be on a trial with another family, or has been offered to another rescue within our network. Don’t worry though — we’re always happy to help you find another great match if that happens! Our goal is to make sure every pup ends up in the best home for their needs (and yours too!).

Good With: Other small dogs (she enjoys playmates her size!) People and older kids Needs to Know: Skye can be intimidated by larger dogs at first but warms up once she learns they’re safe. She is not a fan of loud, young children. Leash Training: Her foster mom is working on it… but honestly, it’s not going so hot! Secure, physical fencing is a must. Skye is a determined door dasher and will take off if she’s spooked or if her person leaves the house. She needs a home where she is either crated or safely contained when unsupervised. Potty trained: Skye needs her person to be with her in the yard—she won’t wander alone or go with other dogs. Crate & Alone Time: Will go into her crate willingly with a treat and sleeps quietly through the night. May whine initially when left alone, and longer absences are stressful for her. Best suited for a home where someone is around most of the day. Fun Quirks: Loves food (her true love language!) Story
Meet Miller – a gentleman looking for his retirement home. 🤍 Miller is a 13–14 year old Chihuahua, about 13 pounds, who lost everything he knew when his owner passed away around Christmas last year. In an instant, his whole world changed. And now this quiet, dignified little soul is looking for a soft place to land for the rest of his golden years. Miller is as easy as they come. He is: Fully potty trained Non-destructive Quiet and settled Does not need a crate Goes outside, does his business, and comes right back when called Responds to his name Not barky He’s good with other dogs and actually needs another dog in the home — he does best with canine company. He will politely voice his opinion if another dog gets too enthusiastic about sniffing his ancestors or giving too many kisses, but it’s more grumpy grandpa energy than anything else. Miller isn’t a fan of being carried around and isn’t big on physical affection right now, but that may change once he fully trusts his person. What he does love is: Food (a lot) Finding and staying close to his person Peace and routine He’s sweet with strangers, but his heart belongs to one person once he bonds. A few important notes: He has cataracts in both eyes, but he can see. His night vision isn’t great… but honestly, that’s true for most of us over a certain age. He walks on a leash. A fenced yard would be beneficial, though not required. He’s not a big fan of car rides (yet). When you leave, he may whine a little — then he settles in and waits patiently. Miller would not do well with young children, lots of chaos, or a big pack of dogs. He is looking for a calm home, a steady routine, another gentle dog, and someone who understands that senior dogs don’t need much… just love, stability, and kindness. Miller isn’t asking for forever. He’s asking for the rest of his forever. And he promises to be the easiest, quietest, sweetest old man you could hope to share it with. 🐾🤍 🐾 Adoption Info: All of our animals are fully vetted, which includes spay/neuter, up to date on vaccines, wormed, heartworm tested and treated if necessary, up to date on flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and microchipped prior to adoption. Story
🐾 RIGGS 🐾 Age: 4 years Weight: 14 lbs Breed (guess): Chiweenie ✨ WHO RIGGS IS Riggs is a sweet, loving little guy who needs a bit of time to feel comfortable in new situations. New people and places can be scary at first, but once he settles in, his goofy and affectionate personality comes out in full force. When Riggs trusts you, he wants to be right by your side. 😍 THE CUTE STUFF • Loves playing with a ball • Adorable head tilts • Ears that sometimes stick straight out to the sides • Professional lap enthusiast once comfortable ⚠️ THE HONEST PART • Nervous pee-er at the beginning when adjusting or startled • Needs to be crated for car rides 🎓 TRAINING & MANNERS Leash: Does great overall. May pull a little if scared but mostly wants to stay with his person. House Training: 100% house trained — nervous peeing only happens early on or if startled. Crate: Excellent at night — quiet until morning. During the day, he may whine if people are home because he wants to be with them. Crate = safe space. ⚡ ENERGY & MOTIVATION Energy level: Medium Motivated by: Treats and praise 🐕 SOCIAL SKILLS With dogs: Great with all dogs he’s met. Playful and respectful of boundaries. Especially enjoys dogs his size. With new people: Very shy at first but warms up quickly — usually within about a day. In the car: Nervous but improving. Does best in a travel crate with a washable pee pad. 🏡 IDEAL HOME • Patient, understanding people • Willing to give him time to adjust • A dog friend around his size would be a big bonus Fence: Does well on leash, but a securely fenced area would make the first few days easier while he builds trust. 🐾 Adoption Info All of our animals are fully vetted, which includes spay/neuter, up to date on vaccines, wormed, heartworm tested and treated if necessary, up to date on flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and microchipped prior to adoption.
