Story
🐾 Meet Poppy! 🐾 Name: Poppy Age: 10 months Weight: 16 lbs Guessed Breed: Chihuahua mix 🌸 Personality Snapshot Poppy is a “slow burn” kind of girl — she takes a little time to warm up, but once she does, she bonds hard. When she feels safe, she’s 16 pounds of pure fun and joy. She loves to run, play fetch, toss her toys around, and curl up for cuddles. She also enjoys the company of other dogs and finds comfort in them. 😄 Cute Quirk When Poppy gets excited, she goes on a mission to steal things, especially items bigger than she is. Winter boots, sweatpants, random laundry — if it’s oversized, it’s fair game. ⚠️ Not-So-Great Habits New people can be scary for Poppy, and she may bark at first. Slow, respectful introductions help her feel safe and confident. 🎓 Training She’s Working On Basic commands: sit, come, down Leash skills Positive introductions to new people 🦮 Leash Manners Generally good on leash, though the world can still feel a bit overwhelming at times. 🏠 At-Home Skills House trained: Yes Crate manners: Will go into her crate happily with a treat Door dasher: No Jumper: No Counter surfer: No ⚡ Energy Level Medium — playful and active, but also enjoys downtime. 🍖 Motivation Food motivated (treats are the way to her heart). 🐶 Dog Friendly Yes! Another confident, friendly dog would be a big plus for her. 👋 With New People Needs slow, patient introductions. 🚗 Car Manners Nervous at the start of rides but improving with experience. ❤️ Favorite Things Running in the yard, playing fetch, toys, and snuggling on the couch with dogs and her people. 🏡 Best Home Scenario A home where someone is around more often than not, older children, another dog to help boost her confidence, and adopters willing to patiently help her continue building trust with new people. 🚧 Fence Needs A physical fence is required. 🐾 Adoption Info: All of our animals are fully vetted, which includes spay/neuter, up to date on vaccines, wormed, heartworm tested and treated if necessary, up to date on flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and microchipped prior to adoption. Our requirements are non-negotiable and include the following: All current pets in the home must be spayed or neutered if over 6 months of age, unless there is a documented medical exemption with veterinary confirmation. All current dogs must be up to date on Rabies and Distemper/Parvo (DHPP) vaccinations. All current dogs must be on consistent, consecutive heartworm prevention. Past dogs listed on the application must also show a consecutive history of heartworm prevention. To start the adoption process, please fill out our application here: 👉 https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/WAG/Dog Please also take a moment to read our requirements located in the application. Please note: The dog you’re applying for might already have a meet-and-greet scheduled, be on a trial with another family, or has been offered to another rescue within our network. Don’t worry though — we’re always happy to help you find another great match if that happens! Our goal is to make sure every pup ends up in the best home for their needs (and yours too!).

Story
Meet Skye! 🐾 Breed: Chihuahua Age: 10 months Weight: 8.6 lbs Personality Snapshot: Skye is a sweet, affectionate little lady with a heart full of love—and a smile that will melt you! She bonds closely to her favorite person and thrives on companionship. While she’s initially shy around strangers, she’s never aggressive—she just warms up on her own schedule. Good With: Other small dogs (she enjoys playmates her size!) People and older kids Needs to Know: Skye can be intimidated by larger dogs at first but warms up once she learns they’re safe. She is not a fan of loud, young children. Leash Training: Her foster mom is working on it… but honestly, it’s not going so hot! Secure, physical fencing is a must. Skye is a determined door dasher and will take off if she’s spooked or if her person leaves the house. She needs a home where she is either crated or safely contained when unsupervised. Potty trained: Skye needs her person to be with her in the yard—she won’t wander alone or go with other dogs. Crate & Alone Time: Will go into her crate willingly with a treat and sleeps quietly through the night. May whine initially when left alone, and longer absences are stressful for her. Best suited for a home where someone is around most of the day. Fun Quirks: Loves food (her true love language!) Enjoys toys she can fit in her mouth Energy level is low to moderate—perfect for snuggles and short play sessions Her smile is irresistible Skye may sound like a handful, but she is truly a charming, loving little girl who thrives with patience, consistency, and a safe, secure home. Adoption Requirements: Home with physical fencing Someone home most of the day Crate or safe playpen for unsupervised times Ready to meet this little heart-stealer? Story
I’ve had Daisy for about 11 years. She’s very young for her age. She’s a sweet dog. She doesn’t bark a lot. She just needs more attention than I’m currently able to give her. I think she’s losing her hearing and her eyesight and I can’t be with her to take care of her and my only other option other than rehoming her would be to euthanize her and I can’t do that to her.
