Story
Sandy is an incredibly special dog. This girl came into rescue extremely emaciated and neglected. She was shut down, and absolutely terrified of people. She endured so many tests to figure out what is causing her extreme emaciation. Through all of the vet visits and testing, sweet Sandy has maintained the best attitude. She has grown more and more comfortable and shows us how much love she has to give everyday. She's great with other dogs and adores kids. Sandy's test results indicated a liver issue, resulting in her being on Liver Prescription food likely for life. with this food she is gaining lots of weight and doing extremely well! ##1602125##

Story
Bianca is a beautiful, deer headed chihuahua. She absolutely craves human interaction and will return all the love she is shown. She is a special little girl who came to us with a heart condition. Surgery was required and now she is fully healed and ready to find her forever home. Bianca is so loving, on her daily walks she has to stop at each person she sees to give them a hug. She wants to sit on your lap and snuggle as often as possible. Bianca is looking for a person to call her own who can give her plenty of companionship. We recommend that she be the only animal in the home as she is very selective with other dogs and she does not do well with cats. If Bianca sounds like a perfect fit for your family, you can fill out an application at https://langefoundation.org/dog-adoption-application/ St. Bonnie's Sanctuary (Lange Foundation) is located in Canyon Country, CA. Story
Meet Lola, our adorable 12 year old chihuahua! Lola came in with her sisters Chloe and Bella, who has now been adopted. With Chloe still here, the two enjoy spending their day in our senior center napping and sunbathing with other senior canine residents. Lola and Chloe also like to be dressed up by staff in cute sweaters. Lola would do well in a home where Chloe could come with her, or at least have someone to keep her company most of the time. All she really wants is to sit in your lap all day getting lots of attention. She is crate-trained and supposedly knows how to sit, turn, roll over and stand with treats! Jaxson is an adorable little fella! He is about 2 years old. He is about 5.5 lbs. just darling and sweet.  He came to us so scared. Since then, he has joined the little pack here, fitting right in. He is still shy and questioning trust but time and gentle hands will heal that worry. He would enjoy a quite home with maybe another small dog. He would be a great personal companion too. He is healthy and sweet little boy. Interested in this guy then please submit an application on our website listed below. www.rescuesontherunway.org   October 2, 2023, 6:12 pm

This little cutie was surrendered to us after having lived in the same home for 8 years because he was not doing well with the young children in the home. He is doing surprisingly well here. He loves walks with whoever will take him, keeps his room neat as a pin, and likes to cuddle and snuggle. Because we require visits here to our rescue and home checks, adoptions are limited to the Los Angeles, Ca area.

Story
Carlito was surrendered to us after a neighbor noticed he was living on the side of a house in filth, without consistent access to food and water. His original human dumped him at her mother’s home and he was not wanted. Poor guy was sad and confused. He’s now neutered, vaccinated, chipped and just had a badly needed dental. He had a cracked tooth that was painful. He takes a little time to warm up and trust. Rightly so. He’s great with other dogs, affectionate but not needy. He just wants to be near you.

Story
Venus is a lucky girl! She was attacked by a large dog and was unable to move. The “owner” brought her to the South LA Shelter because they could not provide the necessary vet care. I really don’t know if they even tried. :/. Anyway, a shelter volunteer witnessed the whole thing and when she overheard the shelter staff inform the woman that Venus would be euthanized because they did not have the resources to provide the vet care, the volunteer stepped in and took the dog. Long story short(er)…first vet said they were not sure if they could save her. Second vet was able to stabilize her and she made a full recovery. She’s amazing! Great with EVERYONE! And she’s not even holding a grudge against any large dogs she meets. She would be fine as an only dog or part of a pack. Great in the car, on leash, no food aggression, shares her bed and toys with the other dogs. We’re grateful she survived and that we are able to give her a second chance at a better life.

Story
UPDATE: We need to find a home ASAP. She continues to be aggressive with our 4 year-old. We might need to take her to a shelter. Renee is about 10 or 11 years old. She's been with us for 8 years. She is extremely affectionate with us, she loves to sit in our lap and next to us on the sofa. She's housebroken and pretty calm with us. Her fur is silky smooth. What is not good about her is that she is very protective of us. She won't allow any of our guests to pet her. She will bark at first, and then just go lay down and ignore everyone. If they try to pet her, she will growl and even snap at them. The reason we need to give her a new home is because after four years, she never warmed up to our son. Recently, while he had his hand out to give her some food, she bit his finger. We can't take the risk of a second and more serious bite. Renee will be a good dog for the right home.
