Story
We can't have a Bonnie without a Clyde! Clyde was terrified at animal control, and he showed teeth to just about everyone. He LOVES other dogs, and quickly started to trust his foster mom. Sometimes, they just need patience and love. This is why foster families are SO important! Clyde was at risk of euthanasia due to his fear-based aggression. This poor little guy was just misunderstood. He is just 3-years-old, and he is a little plump at 12-pounds. We think he's likely a Chihuahua/JRT mix. Clyde must have another friendly dog in his forever home. He would be best in a family without young children. Someone who can continue to help him to trust strangers would be ideal. Clyde is good on a leash, in the car, likes to cuddle, and he likes to play. He is fine in a crate, but you have to let him come out on his own time. He is terrified if you try to pull him out manually. Can you help bring joy to a little lad like Clyde? If so, he promises to return that love in spades. Please apply here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DBSR/Dog His minimum adoption donation amount is $345. He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, heart worm checked, and on flea/tick and heart worm preventatives. We are located in Bloomington, IL We do not ship, you would need to travel to pick up your babies if you live out of state. Your current pets must be up-to-date on core vaccines, spayed/neutered, and on heart worm prevention year round. You must be at least 21-years-old to adopt. Please have your veterinarian and two non-family reference phone numbers ready. The app makes you start all over if you leave the page to look up numbers. Story
Behind those sweet little eyes, miss Molly has had quite the past before being rescued. Molly is an 8-year-old, 8-pound Chihuahua. She was recovered from a hoarding home that had caught on fire. When officials pulled Molly from the home she was not breathing, and her gums were blue from lack of oxygen and smoke inhalation! She was rushed to our vet clinic where she was hospitalized to save her life. While there they discovered she was pregnant. She recovered well with vet care but unfortunately, she lost her puppies as they were born premature due to the stress of the fire and her rescue. Molly is still shy and prefers to watch the action from a safe and comfy blanket. But, she is opening up a little more each day. Molly will come snuggle next to you for some pets and attention (especially if treats are involved). She would be best in a home with another dog who is confondent and friendly. Molly does well with dogs her size but has not been around large dogs, cats, or small children due to her nervousness. She can be crated, doesn’t mind car rides, and likes time out of doors. Please apply here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DBSR/Dog Her minimum adoption donation amount is $275. She is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, heart worm checked, and on flea and heart worm preventatives. Story
If quiet souls are your favorite kind, Betsy just might steal your heart. At only 1 year old and 8 pounds, this precious Chihuahua is learning that life can be kind. Betsy came from a heartbreaking hoarding situation with 130 other dogs, so the world is still a big, unfamiliar place to her. She isn’t fearful forever—she just needs a little time, patience, and someone who understands that trust is earned. One thing that gives Betsy confidence? Other small dogs! She absolutely needs a friendly, confident canine companion in her forever home to show her the ropes and help her continue blossoming. Watching another dog enjoy life helps Betsy realize she can too. She is crate trained, rides well in the car, and is potty pad trained. Leashes are still new to her, so she’ll need a secure home and a family willing to let her learn at her own pace. Because sudden movements and loud activity can be overwhelming, Betsy is looking for a home without small children. Cats are unknown. There was a brief moment when we thought Betsy was expecting puppies, but it turned out to be a false (pseudo) pregnancy. She has now been spayed, is healthy, and is more than ready to begin the next chapter of her life. Betsy isn’t looking for perfection—she’s looking for patience, gentle encouragement, and a home where she can continue discovering just how wonderful life can be. The day she finally chooses your lap, follows you from room to room, or wags her tail with confidence will be a moment you’ll never forget. Could you be the family that shows Betsy what love has always been meant to feel like? ❤️ Please apply here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DBSR/Dog Her minimum adoption donation amount is $375 She is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, heart worm checked, and on flea/tick and heart worm preventatives. Story
Meet Gru, a 1-year-old Chihuahua mix weighing just 9 pounds. This little guy may be shy when you first meet him, but a little kindness and patience go a long way. Once Gru feels safe, his walls come down and you'll discover an incredibly sweet, loving companion. Gru has a playful side, too! When he's feeling comfortable, he loves to play and gets the cutest little zoomies that are guaranteed to make you smile. Because new situations can be overwhelming for him, Gru would likely do best in a home with older, respectful children who understand that he needs a little time to build trust. Give him the chance to come out of his shell, and he'll reward you with a lifetime of love and loyalty. If you're looking for a gentle little dog whose heart is just waiting for the right person, Gru may be your perfect match. His minimum adoption fee is $300 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives. Story
Meet Fitz, a 7-year-old Chihuahua mix weighing 10 pounds, and prepare to fall head over heels for this one-of-a-kind little gentleman. Missing one eye has never dampened Fitz's spirit. He greets each day with curiosity, a happy heart, and an adorable personality that's impossible not to love. Fitz is full of charming little habits that will make you smile. Before hopping onto the couch, he pauses for a moment to gather his courage, then makes the cutest little leap. When he wakes up, he gives an Elvis-worthy shimmy from head to tail before starting his day. He's also become quite the TV enthusiast, especially if there's a soccer game on, and he'll happily settle in beside you to cheer on the action. This sweet boy loves being close to his people. Whether you're relaxing at home, heading out for a car ride, enjoying a sniff-filled adventure in the yard, or stopping for a pup cup, Fitz is happiest when he's by your side. He enjoys walks but doesn't need long adventures to be content. A comfy couch, a cozy dog bed, and someone to cuddle with are all high on his wish list. Fitz has settled beautifully into his foster home. He's house-trained on a regular schedule, sleeps through the night without accidents, and quickly learns the household routine. Because he doesn't always let you know when he needs to go outside, sticking to a consistent potty schedule will help him continue to succeed. He may benefit from wearing a belly band while adjusting to a new home, but he's already proving what a polite little houseguest he is. He's done wonderfully with the large Labrador in his foster home and has been friendly with every person and animal he's met. While he'd be perfectly happy as your one and only spoiled sidekick, he can also share his home with another respectful dog. Because he has limited vision on one side and can pivot quickly when surprised, a home with older, understanding children would be the best fit. Fitz may appreciate a little patience when it comes to being picked up, but once he's in your arms, he's more than happy to soak up the cuddles. Sweet, gentle, and endlessly endearing, Fitz is ready to trade foster life for a forever family who will love every little hop, shimmy, and snuggle he has to offer. His minimum adoption fee is $200 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
