Story
Taz is a 1-year-old Rat Terrier/Chihuahua mix. He's a very thin 8-pounds, but he's already filling out with good food and lots of love. Taz was terrified at animal control, and with his foster for the first couple of days. He needs to figure out you're not trying to hurt him, and then he will come BEGGING for the love and belly rubs. He still gets a little overstimulated at times. So, you just have to follow his signals. He will crawl into your lap and lick your face until you're sure you have no face left. Ha! No young children in the home please. This poor guy has suffered enough in his short life. All he needs is a loving home with pawrents who can continue to help his trust of people grow every day. Taz gets along well with other small dogs, is pretty quiet so far, and rides fine in a car. He does well on a leash also. Taz has really come out of his shell. He loves playing with other small dogs, and has filled out nicely. He is now a healthy 10-pounds. This young cutie is going to make someone very happy! Apply today Please apply here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DBSR/Dog His minimum adoption donation amount is $325. Story
We can't have a Bonnie without a Clyde! Clyde was terrified at animal control, and he showed teeth to just about everyone. He LOVES other dogs, and quickly started to trust his foster mom. Sometimes, they just need patience and love. This is why foster families are SO important! Clyde was at risk of euthanasia due to his fear-based aggression. This poor little guy was just misunderstood. He is only a year old, and he is a little plump at 12-pounds. We think he's likely a Chihuahua/JRT mix. Clyde must have another friendly dog in his forever home. He would be best in a family without young children. Someone who can continue to help him to trust strangers would be ideal. Clyde is good on a leash, in the car, likes to cuddle, and he likes to play. He is fine in a crate, but you have to let him come out on his own time. He is terrified if you try to pull him out manually. Can you help bring joy to a little lad like Clyde? If so, he promises to return that love in spades. Please apply here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DBSR/Dog His minimum adoption donation amount is $325. He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, heart worm checked, and on flea/tick and heart worm preventatives. Story
Behind those sweet little eyes, miss Molly has had quite the past before being rescued. Molly is a 5-year-old, 7-pound Chihuahua. She was recovered from a hoarding home that had caught on fire. When officials pulled Molly from the home she was not breathing, and her gums were blue from lack of oxygen and smoke inhalation! She was rushed to our vet clinic where she was hospitalized to save her life. While there they discovered she was pregnant. She recovered well with vet care but unfortunately, she lost her puppies as they were born premature due to the stress of the fire and her rescue. Molly is still shy and prefers to watch the action from a safe and comfy blanket. But, she is opening up a little more each day. Molly will come snuggle next to you for some pets and attention (especially if treats are involved). She would be best in a home with another dog who is confondent and friendly. Molly does well with dogs her size but has not been around large dogs, cats, or small children due to her nervousness. She can be crated, doesn’t mind car rides, and likes time out of doors. Please apply here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DBSR/Dog Her minimum adoption donation amount is $325. She is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, heart worm checked, and on flea and heart worm preventatives. Story
Oh Honey—She was shy when she arrived, and now we know why. Her back end is full of bb-Pellets She had an Infected uterus. Sadly, she was also heart worm positive. But good news! Honey has completed her 3-month long grueling heart worm treatment. She has been such a trooper through it all. Now she deserves the home of her dreams. Just as one of you deserve the dog of your dreams. Wink wink! Honey should only have low impact exercise for a few more months. But, that is just fine with her. She’s a laid back cutie anyway. Sho who wants a sweetheart who is okay with other dogs, crate trained, fine on car rides, good on a leash, and is cute as a button? We think she’d prefer no small children, but the tweens to adults are a-okay with her! Honey is 5-years-old and just 7-pounds Please apply here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DBSR/Dog Her minimum adoption donation amount is $345 She is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, heart worm checked, and on flea/tick and heart worm preventatives. Story
BBQ is a 5-year-old Chiweenie who weighs 10.8 pounds. Like her siblings, she has a timid side, but her gentle sweetness shines through once she feels secure. She’s a quiet and easygoing girl who simply wants a safe, loving place to call home. With patience and kindness, BBQ will warm up and become a loyal little companion. She is part of a group of 29 dogs who were found living in very sad conditions after their owner passed away.  They can be shy at first, but once they feel safe, their sweet and cuddly sides shine through. With patience and love, they’re ready to begin a whole new chapter. Her minimum adoption fee is $300 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives. 💕 Meet BayBay & Poco — The Dynamic Duo of Cuddles! Double the love, double the sweetness! BayBay and Poco are a devoted Chihuahua mother-and-son pair who come as a perfectly matched set. BayBay (5 years old, 9 lbs) is the gentle, bobtail beauty of the pair — nurturing, calm, and always keeping an eye on her boy. Poco (3 years old, 8 lbs) is her sweet little shadow with the world’s most irresistible pouty “boo-boo lip.” One look, and you’ll be wrapped around his tiny paw! These two are pure love wrapped in fur. They’re: 🐶 Great in the car — polite passengers who settle right in 🛏️ Crate-trained and potty pad trained (but happy to go outside, too!) 🦮 Lovely on leashes 🐾 Friendly with dogs, cats, and respectful kiddos 🧸 Quiet and calm — Poco’s the strong, silent type, while BayBay may let out a happy bark when excited When they’re not following you from room to room, you’ll find them snuggled under a blanket together (even on the hottest day). They don’t need much exercise, just soft places to nap and people to love. BayBay and Poco share an unshakable bond — where one goes, the other follows. They’re looking for a forever home that will keep them together and shower them with the love they so freely give. If you’ve got space in your heart (and on your couch) for two tiny lovebugs, BayBay and Poco are ready to fill it. 💞 Please apply here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DBSR/Dog The minimum adoption donation amount for both together is $550. They are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, heart worm checked, and on flea/tick and heart worm preventatives.
