Story
We can't have a Bonnie without a Clyde! Clyde was terrified at animal control, and he showed teeth to just about everyone. He LOVES other dogs, and quickly started to trust his foster mom. Sometimes, they just need patience and love. This is why foster families are SO important! Clyde was at risk of euthanasia due to his fear-based aggression. This poor little guy was just misunderstood. He is just 3-years-old, and he is a little plump at 12-pounds. We think he's likely a Chihuahua/JRT mix. Clyde must have another friendly dog in his forever home. He would be best in a family without young children. Someone who can continue to help him to trust strangers would be ideal. Clyde is good on a leash, in the car, likes to cuddle, and he likes to play. He is fine in a crate, but you have to let him come out on his own time. He is terrified if you try to pull him out manually. Can you help bring joy to a little lad like Clyde? If so, he promises to return that love in spades. Please apply here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DBSR/Dog His minimum adoption donation amount is $345. He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, heart worm checked, and on flea/tick and heart worm preventatives. We are located in Bloomington, IL We do not ship, you would need to travel to pick up your babies if you live out of state. Your current pets must be up-to-date on core vaccines, spayed/neutered, and on heart worm prevention year round. You must be at least 21-years-old to adopt. Please have your veterinarian and two non-family reference phone numbers ready. The app makes you start all over if you leave the page to look up numbers. Story
Behind those sweet little eyes, miss Molly has had quite the past before being rescued. Molly is an 8-year-old, 8-pound Chihuahua. She was recovered from a hoarding home that had caught on fire. When officials pulled Molly from the home she was not breathing, and her gums were blue from lack of oxygen and smoke inhalation! She was rushed to our vet clinic where she was hospitalized to save her life. While there they discovered she was pregnant. She recovered well with vet care but unfortunately, she lost her puppies as they were born premature due to the stress of the fire and her rescue. Molly is still shy and prefers to watch the action from a safe and comfy blanket. But, she is opening up a little more each day. Molly will come snuggle next to you for some pets and attention (especially if treats are involved). She would be best in a home with another dog who is confondent and friendly. Molly does well with dogs her size but has not been around large dogs, cats, or small children due to her nervousness. She can be crated, doesn’t mind car rides, and likes time out of doors. Please apply here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DBSR/Dog Her minimum adoption donation amount is $275. She is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, heart worm checked, and on flea and heart worm preventatives. Story
Soline is a sweet, sensitive girl with a gentle spirit and a heart full of love. She is a 3 year old Chihuahua Mix who weighs 13 lbs.  She may be a little timid when meeting new people, but once she feels safe, her affectionate side shines. Snuggles are her love language, and she’d happily spend her evenings curled up beside her favorite humans. She’s wonderfully social with other dogs and enjoys the company of pups of all sizes, making her a great fit for a home with a canine companion. Soline also has a quirky charm all her own — she prances more than she walks, and she’ll let you scoop her up even if she looks adorably unsure about it at first. When she first arrived in foster care, Soline needed help with crate and house training, but she’s made impressive progress and is well on her way to mastering both. Because she’s still building confidence on a leash, she would thrive in a home with a fenced yard where she can explore safely and comfortably. Soline is ready to blossom with someone who sees her sweetness, appreciates her quirks, and can offer the gentle reassurance she needs to feel at home. Her minimum adoption fee is sponsored. There is a $15 fee for rabies registration for McLean County residents. She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives. Story
Meet Wolfgang “Wolfie” Pup, an 8-year-old chihuahua with a heart as big as his name. This chocolate-colored gentleman may be mostly blind, but he doesn’t let that slow him down—he’s a master at navigating the world with his nose! Wolfie has a knack for finding his people, canine pals, and of course, the food bowl. At 13 pounds, he’s a little on the “fluffy” side and might appreciate someone to help him trim down with healthy meals and gentle activity. He lives up to his name by happily “wolfing” down his food, so portion control will be his best friend. Wolfie is a certified cuddle expert who rolls onto his back for belly rubs the moment he’s in your lap. He does great in his crate both day and night, and he’s reliably house trained. While leashes and unfamiliar areas make him a bit nervous, he does well when following the lead of another dog—or when given audible cues like finger snaps or whistles. This sweet boy thrives on companionship and loves knowing where his people are at all times. Wolfie is ready for a loving home where he can be doted on, guided safely around stairs or furniture, and given plenty of belly rubs. If you’re looking for a loyal snuggle buddy with a nose for adventure, Wolfie’s your guy! Please apply here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DBSR/Dog His minimum adoption donation amount is $275. Spayed or Neutered,
Story
🤎 Meet Lucy — Small, Soft, and Learning to Be Brave Lucy is a 6-year-old, 8-pound Chihuahua mix who came from the same difficult hoarding situation as Ethel and Molly. Life taught her early that being quiet and invisible was the safest way to exist, so she learned to move softly, stay small, and hide when the world feels too big. Lucy is not the kind of dog who rushes toward affection. She doesn’t follow you around or seek out attention right away. Instead, she watches you from a safe spot — taking everything in, thinking carefully, deciding slowly. Trust is something she gives in tiny, precious pieces. What makes Lucy special is not that she is ready — it is that she wants to be. She is most comfortable in: 🐾 A calm, quiet home 🐾 With a gentle, patient person 🐾 With another confident dog who can show her the way 🐾 No young children — she needs tenderness and slow movements 🐾 A securely fenced yard, as she’s not fully used to leashes 🐾 Predictable routines, soft voices, and time One of the sweetest things about Lucy is how deeply she notices kindness. She may not run to you, but she sees you. She sees your gentleness. She sees your patience. And slowly, she begins to believe it. Her bravery will not come in grand gestures — it will come in quiet milestones: The day she chooses to nap near you. The day she takes a treat from your hand. The day she decides she feels safe enough to stay instead of hide. Those are the moments that will stay with you forever. Lucy will never be the loudest, boldest, or most outgoing dog. But she will be one of the most meaningful loves you’ve ever earned. If your heart opens for the shy ones — the gentle ones — the ones who bloom slowly… Lucy is waiting for you. 🤎✨ Please apply here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DBSR/Dog Her minimum adoption donation amount is $275 She is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, heart worm checked, and on flea/tick and heart worm preventatives.
