Story
Welcome back Woody (formerly known as Nelson) 💕 Born 5/19/23, Chihuahua/Heeler mix, 20lbs Woody was adopted as a young puppy and recently returned due to training issues. His wonderful foster mom has worked with him over the past few weeks, and we’ve learned he is a wonderful little dog. Woody will turn 1 in May and is looking for his forever home. Woody has an abundance of energy! He needs ALOT of exercise. He is learning manners and is doing well. He needs to be reminded not to jump on people for attention, especially in the morning when he is soooo excited to see you after sleeping in his crate. He is house trained, but still very much puppy and will chew on things other than his toys if left on his own. For now, he is confined to a specific area when his foster mom is not home. He had some issues in the past with older dogs, but plays well with younger dogs. Woody would need to be fed separately because he doesn’t always respect his foster siblings’ space when they are eating. He really enjoys playing ball and with stuffed squeaky toys. His purpose in life is to extract the squeaky from the toy. Woody is very focused on his human and will want to be in the same room as you. Woody is a high energy and smart dog who needs a home where he will get plenty of exercise and consistent structure. He knows basic commands, walks great on leash, house trained, and crate trained. Woody is current on vaccines, microchipped, and neutered. We are accepting applications at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/SHPA/Dog

M **PLEASE READ ENTIRE BIO! Any additional questions, not answered in the bio may be asked via email at: pawprintsnky@gmail.com. This is to ensure a prompt response, as inquiries anywhere else may be missed. ****   Bamm-Bamm Available:  Yes Gender: Male Age: Approx. 9 years Weight: 7 lbs Breed: Chihuahua mix Neutered: Yes Vaccinated: Yes Microchipped: Yes Adoption Fee: $250.00 (plus tax) Foster Location: N Ky.   Applicants must live within 100 miles of Florence, KY, no exceptions.   Home Recommendation: Single Family. Fenced yard.  He talks back like a teenager oozing attitude and tends to like to be vocal (he *is* a Chihuahua), so a home that has walls that are shared with a neighbor won't work.  He will scream and act like you're killing him if you try to leash him, so a fenced in yard is a must. Oh, and he doesn't like to be picked up either.   He loves to be near his people and be as close as he can.      Cats: Well, he lives with cats and hasn't injured any, but he can sometimes be a jerk to them.  He'll randomly "guard" water dishes and other items, and he'll chase the cats away, but no teeth are involved.   Kids: Due to his size, he's not recommended for a home with younger children or where children visit often.   Crate Trained: He is crate trained but his foster family usually just leaves him loose.   Potty Trained: He really needs to have puppy pads out for him to use because he won't try to hold it until the next trip outside.   Dogs: He's a bit bossy but is okay with small dogs.  He screams like he's been injured when he sees a large dog, so those are a no for him.   Leash Manners: Nope, not happening.  Unless you want to lose the tips of your fingers and listen to a dog screaming, it's a no. Bamm-Bamm thinks he's a Coon Hound whose job is to "tree" squirrels and is happy to do so for hours when the weather is nice.  He's a busy little guy who is always on the move and not one to spend time sitting on anyone's lap.     Adoption Process: Step 1:    Complete a "no obligation" application located on our website at pawprintsnky.com under the applications tab. Step 2:    PawPrints will review the application, verifying Vet and personal references as well as landlord requirements/restrictions (if applicable) Step 3:    IF your application is approved, we will call you to schedule a meet and greet for you to meet the pet. &#226&#128&#139Step 4:   If the meet and greet goes well, we will schedule the home visit. **Please read the profile in its entirety. The adoption process and their basic needs are addressed in the profile. We are an all volunteer organization and are busy caring for our foster animals so we cannot respond to emails that ask questions already addressed ** Adoption Process: Step 1:    Complete a "no obligation" application located on our website at pawprintsnky.com under Adopt.  . We’ve tried the more subtle approach and it’s not working, so blunt and brutal it is.   Paco needs a unicorn adopter.  He has some fear based issues so he’s horrible with new people.  His adopter will need to let Paco adjust at his own pace and ignore him for days, maybe longer, when he arrives in your home.  If you ignore our advice, he won’t hesitate to remind you that you’re moving too quickly and need to slow down, so no worries about wondering if you’re going at his speed or not.    He loves to sit on your lap and wants to be close to you all the time.  If you need a lap warmer, he’s your man.  That doesn’t in any way mean he likes to be picked up (again, he’ll remind you of his disdain if you try).   We don’t even try to bathe him because we would like to keep all of our fingers.     Don’t adopt him with the idea that he’ll someday be warm and fuzzy with visitors, it’s a nice thought but he’s probably never going to be that dog.     The good...once he trusts you he loves you and he needs your life to revolve around him.  He forms a strong attachment to one person and wants to be the love of your life   He becomes so attached that he is recommended for a single person home   More good...he likes big dogs.  He tolerates small dogs (although he can be a bit bossy) but appreciates the friendship of a bigger dog (especially if they let him run underneath them when he’s frightened).  He’s okay with dog-savvy cats but he’ll be bossy and chase (no biting) cats who won’t stand their ground. A dog experienced person who has as much of a dislike for other humans as Paco does would be a perfect match for him.  Because he doesn’t like people, walks aren’t his thing.  He does love running in a fenced in yard though, and he’ll alert you to every falling leaf, neighbors 5 houses down who has the audacity to be carrying their groceries inside and when the wind changes direction   You’ll never miss any of the neighborhood happenings with Paco around    Paco is a 6 year old Chihuahua/Dachshund who has spent entirely too much time in his foster home.   He adores his foster mom but it’s time for him to plant some permanent roots    He’s neutered, heartworm negative and up to date on vaccines. You can find an adoption application at www.pawprintsnky.com. Once the application is submitted, please expect someone to email you with questions and/or provide more information about the dog is we are unsure that the dog may be a good fit.   Most importantly, please be honest!  We have many people tell us what they think we want to read, not what's truthful.  If there are discrepancies, your application will be denied.  It's important for us to place dogs in a home that's suitable.  You may be a stellar owner but possibly not a good fit for the dog you were first interested in adopting.  We're not trying to offend anyone, we're trying to set everyone up for success.    We're a best fit rescue and will verify your vet and personal references. *Chihuahua/Dachshund *6 years old *11 lbs *Good with cats and dogs (including large dogs) *Not recommended for a home with children or one where children visit   * Best in a single person home but may adjust to a home with two people    * No homes that share walls with neighbors  * Needs a fenced in yard as he does not do well on walks *Adopters must live within 2 hours of Florence, KY *Adoption fee is $300.00    May 11, 2024, 12:14 pm
