Born around August 4, 2024 , and weighing in at a sturdy 15.9 pounds , Mowie is the definition of a "tough guy with a heart of gold." He was discovered hanging around the guard shack at Randolph AFB just as a major ice storm was rolling in. The kind-hearted guards had been sharing their lunches with him to keep him going, but they knew he needed a warm hearth to survive the freeze. Mowie is a truly great boy who is ready to trade base security for home security. He does have one quirky "occupational hazard": he’s a bit of a serial humper when it comes to other dogs, which hasn't always won him friends at the park. However, he was recently neutered , and we are optimistic that this will help him keep his "enthusiasm" in check as his hormones settle down. She was being fostered by a good Samaritan who tried to socialize her, but had trouble getting her out of the closet. She has acclimated really well to our program, loves being outside during the day with the other dogs. Comes in at night and goes to her kennel to sleep. She appears to be housebroken. She wants to be people friendly, but she had to warm up to you first. I suspect she has been traumatized while she was on the streets. The good sam said the neighbors were chasing her away and throwing rocks at her. She is starting to realize not all humans are mean. At just 8 pounds, 12-year-old Linus is basically a tiny, fluffy gentleman with the soul of a sweet little grandpa. 🥹 This precious Pomeranian mix was adopted from a shelter four years ago and recently found himself back in rescue through absolutely no fault of his own when his owner had to move into a nursing home. Now Linus is looking for a soft place to land for the rest of his golden years — and it doesn’t take even a moment to realize he deserves nothing less than the very best. Linus does have some typical senior-dog changes, including reduced hearing and some age-related cloudiness in his eyes, but none of that slows down his sweetness one bit. He’s wonderful with other dogs, politely ignores cats, and absolutely adores kids. He’s potty trained on a frequent routine and does great when kept on schedule. Because he’s an older little guy, he can’t hold it for super long stretches anymore, but he’s very good about using potty pads during long work days.
