Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet  Mowie , a charming Chihuahua/Terrier mix with a survival story as cool as the storm he escaped!   Born around  August 4, 2024 , and weighing in at a sturdy  15.9 pounds , Mowie is the definition of a "tough guy with a heart of gold." He was discovered hanging around the guard shack at  Randolph AFB  just as a major ice storm was rolling in. The kind-hearted guards had been sharing their lunches with him to keep him going, but they knew he needed a warm hearth to survive the freeze.   Mowie is a truly great boy who is ready to trade base security for home security. He does have one quirky "occupational hazard": he’s a bit of a serial humper when it comes to other dogs, which hasn't always won him friends at the park. However, he was  recently neutered , and we are optimistic that this will help him keep his "enthusiasm" in check as his hormones settle down.   Mowie’s Stats: Birthday:  ~08/04/2024 (approx. 1.5 years old) Weight:  15.9 lbs Background:  Air Force Base veteran & lunch-sharing expert Personality:  Resilient, social, and brave If you’re looking for a loyal companion who has been "cleared for duty," Mowie is your man! You can apply for him at www.adoggie4you.org.  His adoption fee is $300.   This dog is currently in Texas; however, it can be transported to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Des Moines, Omaha, Cincinnati, Lexington KY or all along the East Coast. If transported, there is an additional transport fee of $225. We do not transport to Rhode Island or Massachusetts due to their regulations.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 7, 2026, 1:30 pm

She just needs to know she’s okay and be calm. She thinks she runs everything! -Not potty trained (enough) -Barks a lot -Likes walks -Loves attention -Loves her bed and blanket -Doesn’t like toys

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Cassidy — A Sweet Mama Ready for Her Own Happily Ever After Cassidy is a 2½-year-old Chihuahua mix with a loving heart and a gentle soul. This sweet girl has already done the most important job of all — being a wonderful mama to her four puppies. She took such good care of her babies, and now that they are growing up, it’s finally Cassidy’s turn to be the one who is loved, spoiled, and cherished in a home of her own. Cassidy is affectionate, playful, and full of personality. She loves toys, gets excited for treats, and absolutely adores being around people. Her favorite place might just be a warm lap where she can relax and soak up all the love she’s been giving to others. She has so much joy and sweetness to share, and she’s ready to start the next chapter of her life with a family who will treasure her as much as she deserves. Cassidy would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a loyal, loving little dog who will happily be your shadow and your cuddle buddy. After raising her puppies, Cassidy is ready for her own happy ending — a home where she can play, relax, and finally just be someone’s beloved girl. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Rose was saved from the streets of Laredo.  She was being fostered by a good Samaritan who tried to socialize her, but had trouble getting her out of the closet.  She has acclimated really well to our program, loves being outside during the day with the other dogs.  Comes in at night and goes to her kennel to sleep.  She appears to be housebroken. She wants to be people friendly, but she had to warm up to you first.  I suspect she has been traumatized while she was on the streets.  The good sam said the neighbors were chasing her away and throwing rocks at her.  She is starting to realize not all humans are mean.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 7, 2026, 1:30 pm

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Meet Linus! At just 8 pounds, 12-year-old Linus is basically a tiny, fluffy gentleman with the soul of a sweet little grandpa. 🥹 This precious Pomeranian mix was adopted from a shelter four years ago and recently found himself back in rescue through absolutely no fault of his own when his owner had to move into a nursing home. Now Linus is looking for a soft place to land for the rest of his golden years — and it doesn’t take even a moment to realize he deserves nothing less than the very best. Linus does have some typical senior-dog changes, including reduced hearing and some age-related cloudiness in his eyes, but none of that slows down his sweetness one bit. He’s wonderful with other dogs, politely ignores cats, and absolutely adores kids. He’s potty trained on a frequent routine and does great when kept on schedule. Because he’s an older little guy, he can’t hold it for super long stretches anymore, but he’s very good about using potty pads during long work days. Linus’ favorite things include: - Wet food! - Shotgun car rides - Napping in his giant cozy bed - Sitting in your lap - Thinking about sitting in your lap - Returning immediately to your lap Linus is gentle, easygoing, loving, and so incredibly deserving of a calm, cozy home where he’ll be cherished forever. If you’ve ever thought about giving a senior dog a chance, this little guy will show you just how special they are. Linus is fostered in the Cincinnati area. His adoption fee is $175.00. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Gypsy is a 4.5-year-old, 40 lb Pomsky (Pomeranian/Husky mix) who is looking for her emotional support human. She is a nervous girl who needs someone to show her what love truly is. Gypsy is still quite skittish and learning to adjust to the everyday noises and activity of life outside the puppy mill, but each day she grows a little braver. She’s just beginning to discover the comfort of human affection and will need structure, consistency, and kind guidance. Gypsy will need a patient, loving home that’s ready to celebrate her small victories and help her continue building confidence. Because she feels safest when she can follow the lead of another dog, Gypsy will need a confident, well-adjusted canine companion in her forever home to help her continue gaining confidence. She will also require a physically fenced yard to provide a secure environment where she can safely explore and build trust at her own pace. Gypsy is currently being fostered in the Cincinnati, OH area. Her adoption fee is $275.00.
