Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet  Mowie , a charming Chihuahua/Terrier mix with a survival story as cool as the storm he escaped!   Born around  August 4, 2024 , and weighing in at a sturdy  15.9 pounds , Mowie is the definition of a "tough guy with a heart of gold." He was discovered hanging around the guard shack at  Randolph AFB  just as a major ice storm was rolling in. The kind-hearted guards had been sharing their lunches with him to keep him going, but they knew he needed a warm hearth to survive the freeze.   Mowie is a truly great boy who is ready to trade base security for home security. He does have one quirky "occupational hazard": he’s a bit of a serial humper when it comes to other dogs, which hasn't always won him friends at the park. However, he was  recently neutered , and we are optimistic that this will help him keep his "enthusiasm" in check as his hormones settle down.   Mowie’s Stats: Birthday:  ~08/04/2024 (approx. 1.5 years old) Weight:  15.9 lbs Background:  Air Force Base veteran & lunch-sharing expert Personality:  Resilient, social, and brave If you’re looking for a loyal companion who has been "cleared for duty," Mowie is your man! You can apply for him at www.adoggie4you.org.  His adoption fee is $300.   This dog is currently in Texas; however, it can be transported to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Des Moines, Omaha, Cincinnati, Lexington KY or all along the East Coast. If transported, there is an additional transport fee of $250. We do not transport to Rhode Island or Massachusetts due to their regulations.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 18, 2026, 4:17 pm

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Coral! She is the princess that she thinks she is! Coral is a spirited and sassy Chihuahua with a personality as vibrant as her name. This spicy little girl has a history of being sassy and likes to make sure everyone knows that she is in charge! She is confident, opinionated, and definitely has some character. Treats are the way to her heart, and she has been known to give a worker or two a bit of a hard time. Coral does best with larger dogs. Because of her history of initiating conflicts with dogs her own size, she should not be placed with small or similarly sized dogs. Her new family should be prepared to give her appropriate introductions, structure, and guidance so she can be successful. But here’s the secret about Coral: once she knows you, she is the spunkiest, most loving, and happiest little girl! Once you’ve earned her trust, her whole personality shines. She loves her people, adores attention, and will happily show you just how excited she is to see you with her adorable happy dances! Coral also walks well on leash and is always ready to be by her person’s side. Coral is looking for someone who will appreciate her big personality, respect her boundaries, and give her the time she needs to build trust. She may take a little time to warm up, but once you’re part of her inner circle, you’ll discover a joyful, affectionate companion with so much love to give. Her adoption fee is $250. If you’re ready to give this special girl the patience, structure, and love she deserves, apply to adopt her today at www.adoggie4you.org. Story
Sweetie is an adult Chihuahua/Terrier mix who came into my care after her previous owner unexpectedly passed away. She is currently working through the grief and transition of losing her primary adopter, but she is a deeply affectionate, loyal dog who wants nothing more than to be by your side.Sweetie is:• A devoted, sweet-natured girl who forms intense bonds with her people• Housetrained and good with other dogs• Up to date on her rabies vaccination• Enthusiastic and thrives on companionshipSweetie lives up to her name—she greets you with pure joy. Because her whole world was recently turned upside down, she is currently experiencing separation anxiety and needs a gentle, patient adopter who can help her feel safe and secure again. I don't know much about Sweetie's history aside from her rabies vaccination, so a vet visit is highly recommended.💰 Rehoming fee: $125

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Angel is as sweet as her name. She was found as a stray during a storm, and sadly, no one ever came looking for her. Now, after everything she has been through, this beautiful girl is ready to find the forever family she deserves. Angel is a quiet, gentle girl with a calm, submissive personality, but we're happy to say that she's really starting to show her playful side! She loves attention and is happiest when she's getting love from her people. She is incredibly sweet and affectionate and has so much love to give. Angel gets along well with other dogs. She has done a wonderful job coming out of her shell at the rescue, and we know she'll continue to blossom in a loving home where she can feel safe, cherished, and spoiled. When Angel arrived at the rescue, she had a mammary tumor. We had it sent out to pathology, and thankfully, the results came back clear! She has received the care she needed and is now healthy and ready to start the next chapter of her life. We don't yet know how Angel does with cats or whether she's fully potty trained, but based on her gentle, loving nature, we think she'll make a wonderful companion. Angel is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccines, heartworm negative, and protected with ProHeart 12 and Bravecto. Her adoption fee is $300. Angel is currently in Texas but can be transported to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Des Moines, Omaha, Cincinnati, Lexington, Kentucky, and locations along the East Coast for an additional $250 transport fee. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi, I’m Rosette, and I’m looking for my very own special person. I’m an older girl, and life has changed a lot for me. I came to rescue with my brother after our beloved owner passed away. Losing the person I loved was very hard, so I’ll admit that I can be a little unsure when meeting new people. I need some time to trust you and feel safe. Please don’t rush me — let me get to know you at my own pace. But once I trust you, I’m your girl. That’s when you’ll get to see the sweet, loving girl I really am. I absolutely love attention and would happily spend my days curled up on your lap, soaking up affection. And if you want to dress me up and make me feel pretty, even better! I’m a girl who knows how to enjoy the finer things in life. I’m also good with other dogs and have a calm, easygoing personality. I’m not a hyper girl looking for nonstop action. I’d much rather relax with my favorite person and enjoy the comfort of a peaceful home. My future family will need to understand that earning my trust is a process, but I promise it is so worth it. Once I know you’re my person, I have so much love to give. My bloodwork has been done and everything came back normal. I’m spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, and current on ProHeart 12 and Bravecto. I may not be the girl who runs up and greets you like we’ve known each other forever, but give me a little time, a little patience, and a lot of love, and I’ll give you something even better — a devoted little girl who knows you are her safe place. Adoption Fee: $200 Apply today at www.adoggie4you.org. If adopted with Milky Way, adoption fee as bonded pair $350.  Rosette is currently located in Texas but can be transported to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Des Moines, Omaha, Cincinnati, Lexington, Kentucky, and locations along the East Coast for an additional $250 transport fee. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Maggie! Maggie came to us with three of her canine friends after they were seized from a neglect situation by local animal control. The condition they arrived in was heartbreaking. Maggie was suffering from a severe flea infestation, hair loss, overgrown nails, and poor nutrition. While she has come a long way since then, she is still carrying a significant amount of excess weight and is currently at an unhealthy obese weight which will need to be worked on.  Maggie is currently in a foster home, where her foster mom has given all details on Maggie's perfect ideal home.  Maggie isn’t a cuddly lap dog right now, and she may never want to be one. She prefers affection on her own terms, and when something frightens her, her instinct is to hide rather than confront it. And that’s okay. Maggie deserves a home where she can be exactly who she is. She does wonderfully with other dogs and is also good with cats. She would be happiest in an adult-only home without children, preferably with someone who appreciates a quiet, predictable environment. Loud noises and lots of change can be difficult for her, so a calm home where she can settle in at her own pace would be ideal. Maggie is potty-pad trained and perfectly content with life’s quieter pleasures. Give her her little pink couch and a warm sunbeam for an afternoon nap, and you’ll have one very happy little Chihuahua.  Maggie doesn’t need someone to change her. She needs someone willing to show her, patiently and consistently, that she is finally safe. She may take time to trust, but for the right person, earning that trust will be incredibly rewarding. Maggie is spayed, 4DX negative, vaccinated, microchipped, and current on ProHeart 12 and Bravecto. Her adoption fee is $350. To apply to adopt Maggie, visit www.adoggie4you.org. Story
Thanks to a generous grant from the Grey Muzzle Organization, my adoption fee is partially sponsored! My new family can take me home for $150! Meet Kuma! Kuma is a 7.5-year-old, 16 lb Pomeranian with a story that's been anything but ordinary. Rescued after spending her life as an Amish puppy mill mom, Kuma has traveled a long, strange road to get here. And if we've learned one thing about her, it's this: **Kuma is the toughest puff to ever be a puff.** She's tiny. She's fluffy. She's incredibly opinionated. Kuma is also...well...a little weird. She's an independent little lady who is still learning that people can be kind. Cuddles? Those are suspicious. Being picked up? Absolutely unnecessary. While her foster mom insists on loving her anyway, Kuma usually responds with the most dramatic side-eye you've ever seen, as if to say, *"This level of affection seems excessive."* But don't let her fool you. While Kuma may act like she doesn't need anyone, she absolutely needs to know where her people are. Her favorite place to supervise life is sprawled dramatically in the hallway, where she can monitor the entire household. And if someone has the audacity to close the bathroom door? Expect to hear her signature protest. Which brings us to another one of Kuma's...unique qualities. Kuma doesn't really bark. She yells **"A!"** Not "woof." Not "ruff." Just...loud, passionate, determined **A's** that echo through the house like she's trying to make an important announcement that only she understands. We don't know why. We've stopped asking questions. It's simply part of the Kuma experience. Walks? Harnesses? Leashes? Kuma would rather not, thank you very much. Those are all very strange inventions, and she has no interest in participating. A securely fenced yard where she can safely patrol, sniff, and conduct her mysterious little missions is much more her style. Now, while people are still somewhat confusing, dogs? Dogs are the best. Kuma absolutely adores her foster siblings and happily lives with dogs of all sizes. Her favorites are the big dogs, and she'd love a confident canine companion to follow around the yard like the tiny, fluffy shadow creature she was clearly destined to be. Sometimes she'll play. Sometimes she'll simply trail behind them as though she's on an important assignment that only she knows about. Kuma may never become the cuddly lap dog people expect when they hear "Pomeranian," and that's perfectly okay. What she needs is a family that will celebrate her for exactly who she is—a resilient little survivor with a hilarious personality, endless sass, and a heart that's learning, one day at a time, that life can be safe. The greatest gift you can give Kuma isn't forcing affection. It's giving her the freedom to be wonderfully, unapologetically herself. And if you're lucky, one day she'll reward you with a hallway nap, a tiny shadow following you through the yard, and a very enthusiastic chorus of "A!" every time you disappear behind a closed bathroom door. Kuma is fostered in the Cincinnati area. Her adoption fee is $300.00. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. He gets along great with other dogs, loves being near his people, and does the cutest little spin when he gets excited! Mouse spent his life as a puppy-mill stud, so he never got to experience the love and gentle touch every dog deserves. He can be nervous and unsure at first, but with patience and kindness, he is learning to trust. Mouse just needs someone willing to give him time. Once he feels safe, we know this little guy is going to absolutely blossom. ❤️ If you have a quiet home and a patient heart, Mouse is your guy — just waiting to blossom and fill your life with love. Mouse is currently being fostered in the Cincinnati, OH area. His adoption fee is $450.00.
