Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet  Mowie , a charming Chihuahua/Terrier mix with a survival story as cool as the storm he escaped!   Born around  August 4, 2024 , and weighing in at a sturdy  15.9 pounds , Mowie is the definition of a "tough guy with a heart of gold." He was discovered hanging around the guard shack at  Randolph AFB  just as a major ice storm was rolling in. The kind-hearted guards had been sharing their lunches with him to keep him going, but they knew he needed a warm hearth to survive the freeze.   Mowie is a truly great boy who is ready to trade base security for home security. He does have one quirky "occupational hazard": he’s a bit of a serial humper when it comes to other dogs, which hasn't always won him friends at the park. However, he was  recently neutered , and we are optimistic that this will help him keep his "enthusiasm" in check as his hormones settle down.   Mowie’s Stats: Birthday:  ~08/04/2024 (approx. 1.5 years old) Weight:  15.9 lbs Background:  Air Force Base veteran & lunch-sharing expert Personality:  Resilient, social, and brave If you’re looking for a loyal companion who has been "cleared for duty," Mowie is your man! You can apply for him at www.adoggie4you.org.  His adoption fee is $300.   This dog is currently in Texas; however, it can be transported to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Des Moines, Omaha, Cincinnati, Lexington KY or all along the East Coast. If transported, there is an additional transport fee of $225. We do not transport to Rhode Island or Massachusetts due to their regulations.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 7, 2026, 1:30 pm

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Cassidy — A Sweet Mama Ready for Her Own Happily Ever After Cassidy is a 2½-year-old Chihuahua mix with a loving heart and a gentle soul. This sweet girl has already done the most important job of all — being a wonderful mama to her four puppies. She took such good care of her babies, and now that they are growing up, it’s finally Cassidy’s turn to be the one who is loved, spoiled, and cherished in a home of her own. Cassidy is affectionate, playful, and full of personality. She loves toys, gets excited for treats, and absolutely adores being around people. Her favorite place might just be a warm lap where she can relax and soak up all the love she’s been giving to others. She has so much joy and sweetness to share, and she’s ready to start the next chapter of her life with a family who will treasure her as much as she deserves. Cassidy would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a loyal, loving little dog who will happily be your shadow and your cuddle buddy. After raising her puppies, Cassidy is ready for her own happy ending — a home where she can play, relax, and finally just be someone’s beloved girl. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi, I’m Rosette, and I’m looking for my very own special person. I’m an older girl, and life has changed a lot for me. I came to rescue with my brother after our beloved owner passed away. Losing the person I loved was very hard, so I’ll admit that I can be a little unsure when meeting new people. I need some time to trust you and feel safe. Please don’t rush me — let me get to know you at my own pace. But once I trust you, I’m your girl. That’s when you’ll get to see the sweet, loving girl I really am. I absolutely love attention and would happily spend my days curled up on your lap, soaking up affection. And if you want to dress me up and make me feel pretty, even better! I’m a girl who knows how to enjoy the finer things in life. I’m also good with other dogs and have a calm, easygoing personality. I’m not a hyper girl looking for nonstop action. I’d much rather relax with my favorite person and enjoy the comfort of a peaceful home. My future family will need to understand that earning my trust is a process, but I promise it is so worth it. Once I know you’re my person, I have so much love to give. My bloodwork has been done and everything came back normal. I’m spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, and current on ProHeart 12 and Bravecto. I may not be the girl who runs up and greets you like we’ve known each other forever, but give me a little time, a little patience, and a lot of love, and I’ll give you something even better — a devoted little girl who knows you are her safe place. Adoption Fee: $200 Apply today at www.adoggie4you.org. If adopted with Milky Way, adoption fee as bonded pair $350.  Rosette is currently located in Texas but can be transported to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Des Moines, Omaha, Cincinnati, Lexington, Kentucky, and locations along the East Coast for an additional $250 transport fee. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Maggie! Maggie came to us with three of her canine friends after they were seized from a neglect situation by local animal control. The condition they arrived in was heartbreaking. Maggie was suffering from a severe flea infestation, hair loss, overgrown nails, and poor nutrition. While she has come a long way since then, she is still carrying a significant amount of excess weight and is currently at an unhealthy obese weight which will need to be worked on.  Despite everything she has been through, Maggie is a sweet and gentle girl who is more on the shy side. Maggie is not a very active dog and would much rather spend her day relaxing in a cozy spot than running around. Maggie's future family will need to be committed to helping her continue her weight-loss journey through proper nutrition and exercise. She deserves a home that will give her the care and support she needs to live her healthiest and happiest life. Maggie is spayed, 4DX negative, vaccinated, microchipped, and current on ProHeart 12 and Bravecto. Her adoption fee is $400. To apply to adopt Maggie, visit www.adoggie4you.org. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Rose was saved from the streets of Laredo.  She was being fostered by a good Samaritan who tried to socialize her, but had trouble getting her out of the closet.  She has acclimated really well to our program, loves being outside during the day with the other dogs.  Comes in at night and goes to her kennel to sleep.  She appears to be housebroken. She wants to be people friendly, but she had to warm up to you first.  I suspect she has been traumatized while she was on the streets.  The good sam said the neighbors were chasing her away and throwing rocks at her.  She is starting to realize not all humans are mean.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 7, 2026, 1:30 pm

Story
Hi! My name is Bella and I need a new home! I'm just a tiny girl so I don't take up much room and fit nicely in most people's laps. I am half Chihuahua and half Dachshund so they call me a Chiweenie. Well I may be half this and half that, but I am full-blooded affection! I just need a friend or family of my own to share my love with. I adore humans, especially when they take me on walks because i can go, go, go! I like other dogs and would not have a problem living in a home full of fur babies. I am well -mannered and will gently take treats from your hand. Won't you please consider me? I will be forever grateful for a forever home with you!

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Meet Kuma! Kuma is a 7-year-old, 16 lb Pomeranian with a story that's been anything but ordinary. Rescued after spending her life as an Amish puppy mill mom, Kuma has traveled a long, strange road to get here. And if we've learned one thing about her, it's this: **Kuma is the toughest puff to ever be a puff.** She's tiny. She's fluffy. She's incredibly opinionated. Kuma is also...well...a little weird. She's an independent little lady who is still learning that people can be kind. Cuddles? Those are suspicious. Being picked up? Absolutely unnecessary. While her foster mom insists on loving her anyway, Kuma usually responds with the most dramatic side-eye you've ever seen, as if to say, *"This level of affection seems excessive."* But don't let her fool you. While Kuma may act like she doesn't need anyone, she absolutely needs to know where her people are. Her favorite place to supervise life is sprawled dramatically in the hallway, where she can monitor the entire household. And if someone has the audacity to close the bathroom door? Expect to hear her signature protest. Which brings us to another one of Kuma's...unique qualities. Kuma doesn't really bark. She yells **"A!"** Not "woof." Not "ruff." Just...loud, passionate, determined **A's** that echo through the house like she's trying to make an important announcement that only she understands. We don't know why. We've stopped asking questions. It's simply part of the Kuma experience. Walks? Harnesses? Leashes? Kuma would rather not, thank you very much. Those are all very strange inventions, and she has no interest in participating. A securely fenced yard where she can safely patrol, sniff, and conduct her mysterious little missions is much more her style. Now, while people are still somewhat confusing, dogs? Dogs are the best. Kuma absolutely adores her foster siblings and happily lives with dogs of all sizes. Her favorites are the big dogs, and she'd love a confident canine companion to follow around the yard like the tiny, fluffy shadow creature she was clearly destined to be. Sometimes she'll play. Sometimes she'll simply trail behind them as though she's on an important assignment that only she knows about. Kuma may never become the cuddly lap dog people expect when they hear "Pomeranian," and that's perfectly okay. What she needs is a family that will celebrate her for exactly who she is—a resilient little survivor with a hilarious personality, endless sass, and a heart that's learning, one day at a time, that life can be safe. The greatest gift you can give Kuma isn't forcing affection. It's giving her the freedom to be wonderfully, unapologetically herself. And if you're lucky, one day she'll reward you with a hallway nap, a tiny shadow following you through the yard, and a very enthusiastic chorus of "A!" every time you disappear behind a closed bathroom door. Kuma is fostered in the Cincinnati area. Her adoption fee is $300.00. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
