Born around August 4, 2024 , and weighing in at a sturdy 15.9 pounds , Mowie is the definition of a "tough guy with a heart of gold." He was discovered hanging around the guard shack at Randolph AFB just as a major ice storm was rolling in. The kind-hearted guards had been sharing their lunches with him to keep him going, but they knew he needed a warm hearth to survive the freeze. Mowie is a truly great boy who is ready to trade base security for home security. He does have one quirky "occupational hazard": he’s a bit of a serial humper when it comes to other dogs, which hasn't always won him friends at the park. However, he was recently neutered , and we are optimistic that this will help him keep his "enthusiasm" in check as his hormones settle down. Hendricks is an 8-year-old Chihuahua/Terrier mix with a big personality wrapped in a perfectly portable 15-ish pound frame. Once upon a time he may have been a certified little gremlin, but these days he’s embraced his distinguished gentleman era. He’s incredibly people-friendly and happiest when he’s part of the action. She was being fostered by a good Samaritan who tried to socialize her, but had trouble getting her out of the closet. She has acclimated really well to our program, loves being outside during the day with the other dogs. Comes in at night and goes to her kennel to sleep. She appears to be housebroken. She wants to be people friendly, but she had to warm up to you first. I suspect she has been traumatized while she was on the streets. The good sam said the neighbors were chasing her away and throwing rocks at her. She is starting to realize not all humans are mean. He also loves his job: protecting his people from potential threats such as delivery persons, mail carriers, meter readers, etc, with his warning barks.
