Story
Lalo is a Chihuahua, born August 2022.  This little guy is recommended for children 12 and up. He is leash trained and enjoys being active.   He will need a fenced yard with room to explore.   Lalo gets along with other dogs but prefers to be an only dog.  He gets along with his foster's cat but will chase at times.  He is full of personality and a great dog. His favorite thing is sitting on his person's lap.   Lalo's special requests are to be with a family who can provide him with the love, attention and care that he deserves.  Can you be the one for Lalo? **Lalo was recently diagnosed with petit mal seizure disorder and requires an inexpensive drug daily to regulate. The suggested adoption donation for Lalo is $300, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process:  All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note:  We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. To learn about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc.   If the dog or cat you adopt is older than 6 months of age and not spayed or neutered, you will receive a voucher to alter the pet at Val Verde Animal Hospital in Omaha, at no cost to you.  Or you can alter the pet at your own vet and be reimbursed $100 for dogs, and $50 for cats, of total cost.  If the dog or cat is younger than 6 months of age, adopter will be responsible for the cost of altering the pet at the vet of their choice.  If proof of alter is received by Muddy Paws prior to the pet turning 6 months of age, a reimbursement of $100 for dogs and $50 for cats, will be sent to you to help cover expenses.  [Muddy Paws can also suggest a vet with a reduced cost for alters.]  All puppies and kittens MUST be spayed or neutered by 6 months of age.  All dogs and cats MUST be spayed or neutered no later than one month after adoption is finalized.  Thank you in advance for your compliance. ##2486442##

Story
Honey is a 8 1/2 year old female Chihuahua. She is a tiny, nervous Queen with a big personality and even bigger boundaries.  She has a past that's left her deeply unsure of humans.  She isn’t ready for cuddles, pets, or even the occasional hand reach, not yet. She’ll need a home that understands love can be quiet, patient, and without physical contact for a long while (maybe forever).Honey Boo Boo would thrive best in a calm environment with no small children.  She currently coexists peacefully with the cats and dogs at her foster home and finds a sense of safety in animal companionship.  While she doesn’t want to be touched, she enjoys being around her trusted furry friends, they help her feel less alone in the world and she hopes her someday adopter might have a resident furry companion to continue showing her there are some really kind humans out there. She must have a fully fenced yard because she cannot be leashed or carried and has zero recall, catching her would be like trying to scoop up moonlight. We know she isn’t your average lap dog, but she doesn’t want to be. She just wants to exist peacefully in a home where she’s allowed to feel safe and accepted exactly as she is. She isn’t broken, she’s just not for everyone. But for someone, she might be everything.  If you're the rare unicorn of a human who doesn’t need affection or to give love, Honey Boo Boo is waiting for you. The adoption fee is $250 + tax and covers age-appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter.  We're open from 12-4 PM every day EXCEPT Wednesday! Did you know you don't need to have an appointment to visit our available cats and dogs***? Simply drop by and if you find a potential new furry friend, you can fill out an application on the day you visit. Go to townandcountryanimalrescue.org to fill out our digital application. Applications are typically processed in 3-5 business days.  Once you're approved, you can return on the date and time set up by your adoption counselor, with your family for a meet and greet. If it goes well, you can take your new best friend home on the meet and greet day!  If you have other dogs in your home, they must all meet the potential adoptee.  It may save you a trip to bring them with you when you visit, if you are certain you want to adopt a new family member.  ***Please note that animals in foster homes cannot be viewed at our rescue, and appointments are still required to meet them.  Please be sure to follow us on Facebook to learn more about Town and Country Animal Rescue and our mission.  ##2355812##

Story
Fat boy is a sweet kind dog that loves to play. He's been around kids, cats, and other dogs all of his life and will gladly cuddle with you under the blankets. He is one of three pups my dog had, his two siblings were born with cleft pallets, leaving him the only healthy dog out of the three of them. Because he didn't have a cleft pallet he got all of his mother's milk and grew way faster and bigger than his siblings. Hence his name Fatboy. He was originally going to be adopted by a friend who was gonna give him an actual name, but he was never actually renamed or adopted and fatboy stuck. Fat boy is very food motivated and I am currently working with him to learn basic commands. He was starting to get aggressive with his siblings at one point, but since being fixed, he has mellowed out alot and is considerably calmer. He still very much acts like a puppy and will gladly love to play with any dog toy or be the center of attention.
