Dizzy is one of the "old gals" who might have missed out on the typical joys of puppyhood and a stable home, but she's making up for lost time with her gentle spirit. She is a small, sweet, and friendly dog, eager to discover what it means to be truly loved and safe. While she's still learning about the good life, Dizzy has already shown great promise and a sweet disposition. She has done well with other dogs, cats, and children. She's looking for a very special adopter who understands that patience and gentle guidance are key. Meet Maggie — an 8-year-old Chihuahua mix with a tender heart and a whole lot of love to give. 💕Maggie was owner released and is now hoping to find a patient, understanding forever family. This sweet girl does wonderfully with dogs, cats, and children over the age of 12. She is also house and crate trained, which makes her an easy addition to the right home.Maggie does have some barrier issues. When approached in her kennel, she may snarl — but this is simply her way of saying she feels nervous or overwhelmed in that setting. Outside of the kennel environment, she is a loving and gentle companion. She just needs a home that will give her the time and space to feel safe and build trust at her own pace.Weighing 18 pounds, Maggie is heartworm negative and up to date on vaccinations. She’s ready for a fresh start with someone who sees past her kennel behavior and understands that sometimes the sweetest dogs just need a little patience.If you’re willing to give Maggie the understanding and love she deserves, she’ll reward you with loyal companionship and a heart full of affection. 🐾💖Maggie's Adoption Fee is a NO CHARGE FEE. She is partially sponsored by PAWS IN LYON COUNTYDogs are $115 and puppies are $110 unless otherwise noted. All cats and kittens are $75.00 unless otherwise noted. The shelter is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:30-4 and is closed daily for lunch from 12:30-1. Adoptions are done on a first come first serve basis for owner releases. PIPPA UPDATE: Pippa loves toys and loves to play. Content to play by herself or with other small dogs. She is scared of large dogs. House broken and crate trained. She table surfs, will steal your schrunchie in a minute, so she is crated when we are out of the house. We have established a routine for being picked up that is working which causes less stress for her. She rides well in her car seat but has to be buckled in to prevent her from roaming the car. —————————————————————— Pippa came into rescue as a stray. She has been traumatized at some point and takes a bit to warm up but once she does, she is such a sweet cuddle bug. Her main issue is when you try to pick her up, she rolls on her back, screams and pees. She is going to need a very quiet home with a lot of patience to help her be her best self. If you have time and patience then she will come around and be the best pup ever. She is very treat motivated! Her adoption fee is $300.00 (plus 6% KY sales tax)
