Story
Sweetie was vetted for my elderly mother-in-law who, shortly after was put into special living. He would have been perfect. He is a typical Chihuahua: protective, sweet natured and a lap dog and noisy if not in someone’s lap! We got him from Nashville Humane. He was in poor shape: severely malnourished, bad teeth and liver issues. They did surgery on his mouth. His shots and care have been ongoing and up to date. His baseline for his liver has always been slightly elevated but it has been determined that it’s his baseline. We give him liver support chews (non RX) and multivitamins and the best food. Very nutritious food. He is now a perfect weight and teeth all good. He has been with us for a few years. We are very attached and this is breaking our hearts. Only, we had three rescues already and now I’ve had to retire for health reasons. He will be a wonderful dog for most any home.

Story
Say hello to Dizzy, another incredibly brave and resilient senior pup who, like her friend Coquette, was recently rescued from a challenging hoarding situation. Dizzy's past has been tough, marked by a lack of proper care, socialization, and training, but don't let that fool you – underneath it all is a tiny, tender heart just waiting to blossom! Dizzy is one of the "old gals" who might have missed out on the typical joys of puppyhood and a stable home, but she's making up for lost time with her gentle spirit. She is a small, sweet, and friendly dog, eager to discover what it means to be truly loved and safe. While she's still learning about the good life, Dizzy has already shown great promise and a sweet disposition. She has done well with other dogs, cats, and children. She's looking for a very special adopter who understands that patience and gentle guidance are key. If you can offer Dizzy: A quiet, stable home where she can decompress and feel secure. Patience and understanding as she learns about house rules and human affection. A soft place to land (preferably a cozy lap or a warm bed!). Dizzy is ready to give all her love in return. These senior survivors just need a chance to experience the comfort and care they've always deserved. Give this darling "ol gal" a couch to crash on, and you'll gain a loyal companion who will be forever thankful! Is your home the perfect sanctuary for Dizzy? Story
PIPPA UPDATE: Pippa loves toys and loves to play. Content to play by herself or with other small dogs. She is scared of large dogs. House broken and crate trained. She table surfs, will steal your schrunchie in a minute, so she is crated when we are out of the house. We have established a routine for being picked up that is working which causes less stress for her. She rides well in her car seat but has to be buckled in to prevent her from roaming the car. —————————————————————— Pippa came into rescue as a stray. She has been traumatized at some point and takes a bit to warm up but once she does, she is such a sweet cuddle bug. Her main issue is when you try to pick her up, she rolls on her back, screams and pees. She is going to need a very quiet home with a lot of patience to help her be her best self. If you have time and patience then she will come around and be the best pup ever. She is very treat motivated! Her adoption fee is $300.00 (plus 6% KY sales tax)

Story
Meet Peanut 🐶🥜❤️Peanut is a 4-year-old Chihuahua mix with a big personality packed into his tiny 8-pound body. He came to us as an owner release, and while change can be tough, this little guy has shown us just how sweet and loving he can be.Peanut adores people and loves being the center of attention. He’s affectionate, friendly, and enjoys spending time with the humans he trusts. However, he does not do well with kids and will need an adults-only home where he can feel safe and comfortable.Because of his history, Peanut can also be food aggressive, so he will do best as the only dog in the home. We don’t know how he does with cats or other dogs in general, and we’re also unsure about his house or crate training, so a patient adopter willing to give him guidance and structure will help him succeed. The good news? Peanut is heartworm negative, up to date on vaccinations, and ready to begin his next chapter. If you’re looking for a loyal, sweet companion who thrives on one-on-one attention, Peanut could be the perfect match. He has so much love to give—he just needs the right home to help him shine. 💛🐾Peanut's Adoption Fee is $115.50 plus taxDogs are $115 and puppies are $110 unless otherwise noted. All cats and kittens are $75.00 unless otherwise noted. Our system automatically updates adoptable websites every two hours. Feel free to email or call us with any questions you may have. Our contact number is 270-887-4175. The shelter is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:30-4 and is closed daily for lunch from 12:30-1. Adoptions are done on a first come first serve basis for owner releases. Strays have a wait list.
