Story
Fry was found and determined to be an unclaimed stray. He has since been neutered and fully vetted, and is estimated to be approximately 4 years of age. He is crate trained, house trained and learning to walk on a leash, doing much better with a harness. Fry is shy at first, likely related to the rough start he had in life. He warms up to most people quickly. He is working on social skills with other dogs. Fry lacks awareness of boundaries, though with tolerant dogs, is doing much better with play. He is not interested in cats. In his current home, he is living with young children, and does well, however he does play chew and can get overly excited easily.

Story
***The first step in the adoption process is to go to www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org to complete the adoption application*** This sweet little girl is Raya. Raya started life on the Rez. She had a litter of puppies and a run in with a porcupine that left her needing help. Here is what she has to say.... Hi my name is Raya (Ray-uh)! The humans tell me I’m ready to find my furever home! I would love to find a home with a dog friend. I like to rough house and zoom around with toys. I do have a strong prey drive so I can’t live with cats or other small animals. I also love to snuggle the humans and take naps. I get to sleep in bed some nights and I love that but I also sleep in my kennel some nights and don’t mind! I need to find a home that understands dogs with separation anxiety or at least a home willing to learn how to work with that. I would love to have a dog friend that can kennel beside me so I know I can relax. I prefer my plastic kennel over the wire ones. Once I got settled in to my foster home for a few days I relaxed in my kennel and like to chew on my bones when I don’t feel like sleeping. If I could find a home where the humans are around a lot that might also make me more comfortable! If you have a job working from home I won’t complain. I’m kennel trained and house trained, though we were told in a previous home that I did break out of a wire kennel. We were also told that I’d get out of the house and run away. My fosters don’t have trouble with me getting out of the fence or the house but it’s something to know about me. I promise to bring entertainment and love to my furever home. I’m around 3 years old and around 45 lbs so I’m a great size for many people. I have not been kid tested but I can be if my home may have kids! Raya loves deeply and would love to find a home that loves her back just the same. She is guaranteed to add some laughter and love to the right home! Raya is about two and a half and adoption fee is $250.00 She is up to date on vaccinations, spayed and micro-chipped November 4, 2024, 8:52 pm

Story
Name: Jack Age: 13 years  Gender: male Breed: Chihuahua / Cairn Terrier mix Weight: 11 lbs Dog friendly: yes  Cat friendly: testing available upon request Child friendly: yes, older  (t eenage) calm and respectful children , please House trained: yes Crate trained: yes Energy level: low Temperament: Sassy , sweet, quirky, curious, loving Adoption Fee: $7 5+tax To adopt, go to: www.mendingspirits.org/apply-to-adopt.html   About Me – From My Foster Family: Jack was lovingly surrendered along with his two housemates due to a change in his owner’s housing situation. It was a very difficult decision, and it’s clear he was well cared for. He recently had a dental and is feeling much more comfortable — though he does have very few teeth remaining, which just adds to his adorable little smile. Jack has shown that he adapts nicely with time, patience, and reassurance. Like many Chihuahuas, he can be a bit sensitive and easily startled. He isn’t comfortable with people running nearby or leaning over him, and he will let you know if he feels unsure by growling. If truly frightened, he may attempt to lunge to ask for space, so he needs a home that will respect his space and understand his cues. Because of this, he is best suited for a calm, predictable household. Jack is crate trained and settles nicely in his crate at night, where he sleeps quietly. He is potty trained on a schedule, and while he did mark a few times when he first arrived — which is not uncommon during transitions — he does well with consistency, routine, and gentle guidance. At heart, Jack is a devoted, low-energy companion. His very favorite thing to do is keep your lap warm. Once he feels safe, he loves to snuggle close, soak up affection, and simply be near his person. He has a sweet, quirky personality and will thrive in a peaceful home where he can relax and be someone’s cherished little shadow. About Me – From Jack: Hi, I’m Jack. I may seem a little serious at first, but I’m really just a small guy who feels safest in a calm home. Once I know you, I’m all about cuddles. My favorite place in the whole world? Your lap. I take my job of keeping it warm very seriously. I love gentle pets — especially behind my ears — and I have plenty of sweet kisses to share once I feel safe.      February 16, 2026, 5:29 pm
