Meet Nero – The Sweet Old Man Who Knows How to Enjoy Life Nero has reached the stage of life where he knows exactly what makes him happy. Hanging out in the yard. Going for car rides. Taking leisurely strolls. Finding something interesting to sniff. And, of course, getting comfortable for a really good nap. Nero is a gentle, affectionate senior with low energy and an easygoing personality. He's friendly with people, enjoys companionship without demanding constant attention, and would be an excellent match for someone looking for a quieter dog to simply enjoy life with. Meet Velma – The Quiet Little Soul Who Marches to Her Own Beat Velma isn't looking to be someone's traditional lap dog. She's looking for something much simpler: a safe home, a predictable routine, a sunny place to nap, and someone willing to love her exactly as she is. Velma is a quiet, independent girl with some wonderfully quirky habits. She doesn't demand attention and is perfectly content entertaining herself, usually by trotting little laps around whatever space she's in. She has hydrocephalus and some associated cognitive and vision challenges, but right now, Velma is doing well and enjoying life in her own unique way. At this time, Velma is as healthy as she can be and has no immediate medical concerns related to her condition. Her long-term prognosis is unknown. Hydrocephalus can affect dogs differently, and it is possible that Velma's lifespan may be shortened because of her diagnosis. He loves other dogs, enjoys exploring, and is always ready for toys, zoomies, or a good chew bone. And sometimes the best toy isn't even a toy. Just ask Wile about ice cubes. The Great Ice Cube Discovery In Wile's foster home, the resident dog has a little tradition. Whenever someone gets ice from the ice maker, he gets a cube slid across the floor to chase. Then Wile discovered the game. His foster says Wile thought it was the greatest thing ever and looked completely ridiculous trying to catch the slippery ice cube as it shot around the floor. That's Wile. Give him something simple, and he'll find a way to turn it into entertainment. Still Learning the House Rules Wile is crate trained and does exceptionally well in his crate. House training, however, is still a work in progress. Wile is not currently house trained, so his adopter should be prepared to establish a consistent potty routine and continue teaching him. He knows "Come," although selective hearing occasionally makes an appearance. His leash skills also need continued practice. Wile is food motivated and eager to engage, which should be helpful as his family continues working on his manners and training. A Playful Guy Still Learning Self-Control Wile can get excited. Meet Valor – The Cuddly Puppy Who Thinks Big Dogs Make Great Pillows Valor has already figured out one of life's important lessons: Why sleep beside a big dog when you can sleep directly on top of one? This affectionate, playful puppy loves other dogs so much that his foster frequently finds him crawling right onto their big dog and settling in for a nap. Valor is social, energetic, cuddly, and wonderfully goofy. He's still very much a baby, but he's already showing all the makings of a fun family companion. And with those beautiful colors and markings on his face, he's pretty hard to resist.
