Story
🐾 BOLT was one of a group of small dogs recently surrendered because his owner could no longer care for them. Bolt is reported to be 3 years old and we got him fully vetted when he came to us. His foster reports he's a sweet little guy who loves to give kisses and come so far in the few weeks since he's come to us - he's maybe a chihuahua Boston type mix? He loves people and is good with her other dogs. His foster used a belly band with him before his neuter and he does fine with it. He's only lifted his leg maybe once or twice in the weeks since neutered, but she still uses it because he's good with it and to give him a little more time to get out of the habit. He's leash trained, crate-trained with no fuss, and housetrained, too. He's a chill little guy who will make you smile. 👉 Adoption fee INCLUDES: all vetting to age (including deworming, flea & tick etc), spay/neuter and microchip (if the dog is under 6 months, alter and chip will occur after they're 6 months, covered in full at our clinic or reimbursed partially at a vet of your choosing). If the dog is older than 6 months and not yet altered, we will schedule ASAP (normally within 30 days) at our clinic . We also provide as an incentive a $60 rebate for completion of positive-based training classes. Adoption also includes lifetime support of the rescue. 💜 Please click PURPLE BUTTON above to apply or go to www.secondhanddogrescue.com/apply ! ✍ APPLICATION PROCESSING: We do most application processing virtually and dog meets will be individually by appointment with ONLY APPROVED APPLICANTS. We are not a shelter and are completely volunteer foster-based, so there is no central place to come see all of the dogs available. 📌IMPORTANT NOTES: ** Housetraining with rescues is sometimes a work in progress and even if a dog is 100% in a foster's home, it should be expected there will be an adjustment period as a dog adapts to a new environment. This is even more true if the dog has not by chance had their altering appointment at time of adoption. ** Also, we highly recommend some form of 2-week shutdown and decompression for dogs going to a new home for best results. --> Lastly, breed guesses in rescue are just that (GUESSES!!) 99.9% of the time. We do not do DNA testing and our breed guesses are based on appearance and sometimes other traits, but we know the dog breed guessing game is a fool's errand even for those with LOTS of experience. 🗺 ADOPTION AREA: several hour radius of Rochester, NY (Canada within 3 hours IS allowed, except that young puppies need to be old enough to have gotten their rabies vaccination to cross the border - usually around 16 weeks)

Story
🐾 Pretty FOXY is a recent owner surrender who is 2 years old and about 10 lbs - she looks to be some kind of Pomeranian Chihuahua type mix. She was reported and so far seems to be sweet, friendly, and okay with other dogs and cats. She's very much a people person and lap dog who loves to be near her person. Her foster has been taking her to work with her and she's very non-reactive to noises, other dogs, loud noises, and new people. She's on our schedule to get spayed and microchipped, which is included in her adoption fee, but we got her caught back up on the rest of her vetting. Her foster reports no accidents with frequent outs so housetraining seems like it will go fine in her new home with some attention and rewards. We'll share more pics and info as her foster shares with us, but so far she seems like a sweet little pup! Story
Bella is a senior female chihuahua/mix. She is 14 year’s old and weigh’s 9.3 lbs. She is housebroken and kennel trained. Does get along with other dog’s, but rather eat alone. She is a shy girl and take’s her time getting to know you but once she does is a BIG lover baby. After breakfast her favorite thing to do is sleep under the cover’s. Once she is out she is out. She does have one eye that has cataract’s so she will pull away. Just come at her on the other side. She does need help on and off the bed. She is still playful and full of life. Excellent lover baby. Her adoption fee $150 covers her medical care up to adoption, microchip, spay, foster care and transportation to NY where she is now in foster care.  If you would like Bella to join your family please fill out an adoption application. ##2358040##

Adoption Application: https://www.cognitoforms.com/New2URescues/AdoptionApplication ********If dog/pup is showing as available it is available. Please do not email asking if it is. Submit application to meet dog if interested - yes an application is required******** Meet Rita – Your Future Best Friend 🐾 Rita is a sweet and soulful 3-year-old Chihuahua mix weighing approximately 12 lbs. She’s looking for a calm, low-traffic home where she can truly shine as the center of attention. A fenced yard would be ideal for her to safely explore and enjoy the outdoors. This little lady is fully vetted, potty trained, and highly food motivated—she’ll even dance for treats! Rita adores ear scratches and belly rubs, and once she feels safe, she’ll be your loyal companion for life. She thrives in the company of women and is selective with some men, so a patient and understanding adopter is key. Rita would do best as the only pet in the home, where she can soak up all the love and affection she deserves. If you’re ready to open your heart and home to a devoted little friend, Rita is ready to meet you. If you would like to meet this adorable dog an application must be filled out https://www.cognitoforms.com/New2URescues/AdoptionApplication We are in Rochester, NY, we adopt to people who live in the Rochester area. We do not ship our dogs and require home visits. Must live in area to adopt, will not respond to out of area/country requests. Additionally we require physically fenced yard for dog/pup to play in safely. Exceptions are sometimes made to this requirement but is up to the foster and more often done for the small breed dogs. All our dogs have been treated with de-wormer; heartworm tested (if age appropriate -7 months or older); treated for fleas/ticks; microchipped; and examined by veterinarian plus given age appropriate vaccinations. We take every effort to ensure the health of the animal and you will receive a copy of all vet work performed at time of adoption. Dogs will be spayed/neutered thru us prior to finalizing any adoption. We provide information on dogs age and breed based on what we are told by person surrendering dog or vet's best guess. While we try our best we cannot guarantee that this information is 100% accurate and can often be best guess in case of our lovable mutts. Submit application to meet dog if interested - yes an application is required******** Meet Cherry, a 5 yr old chihuahua-Beagle mix weighing approximately 18 pounds. Despite her rough beginning in a hoarding situation, and her fearful nature, Cherry has proven to be a loving and affectionate companion who enjoys snuggles, pets and attention from her human. She’s dog and cat friendly and would do well in a quiet home with a low key canine companion. In addition, she’s potty trained, non destructive and enjoys sleeping in her dog bed, on your lap or beside you, or snuggled up in bed with her human at night. Cherry’s best match would be in a home with a fenced in secure yard. Cherry requires an adopter that is able and willing to give her the time and patience she will need to overcome her fear of new humans, trust her adopter and adjust to new surroundings. Once you’ve gained her trust, she will reward you as a loving, protective and loyal companion. She will shower her adopter with affection. Please note she is leash and crate resistant. An experienced adopter with fearful, but non aggressive behavior will take preference. Additionally, Cherry is extremely fearful of men, so it's preferred her adopter is female and home for most of the day.
